Men have gone to work, and women are in the kitchen thinking of their next move.  They do not want to go for jogging.

Dev and Ashta, discuss the jogging, but then Ashta decides that her birthday comes a day later, and they think of getting everyone together for a party.

When the men come back from work, Ashta calls them all together, and asks them what is the importance of the following day.    They do not seem to know, then Manjula's eyes shine, and Ashta tells them that it is her birthday.   She wants to have a party.

She goes to her Vrinda Ma, and asks her to help.   After some persuasion, she agrees.   Mohan is upset, and goes to his room. Manjula follows him, and they speak to each other, about the death of Bhakti, the day Ashta was born.  He does not want to celebrate, and tells Manjula that he will give some excuse and go away, and asks them to give all good gifts to Ashta and make her happy.   Ashta is listening to them from outside t6he door, and she is very sad.

When the women are together in the kitchen, Ashta and Dev come to the kitchen, and Ashta tells them that she will not have the party, as her father will be going out, because he is sad about the death of her mother.     When Ashta goes away, Manjula tells that it is a good opportunity to get rid of Vrinda, and tells the actress to play her part, and get Ashta angry.

On the next day, the party begins.   Women of the house gather, and Vrinda puts some music and starts dancing, bujt finds Ashta is lonely and not in a mood.   Manjula scolds Vrinda for putting music, and dancing, when Ashta is unhappy.    Vrinda does her act and says, "What is the point of remembering those who are dead?   It is better to celebrate the living and sing and dance."    Manjula asks her, if she has not noticed that Ashta is sad?    And Vrinda replies, "You all are the cause of her sadness..."  and the rest is to be continued in the next episode.

The argument between the women and Vrinda goes on in front of Dev and Ashta.   The aunts do not want to have the party and Vrinda says she should have it.   Vrinda says, that there is no point to mourn over those who have died.  The aunts tell that the happiness of Ashta is of prime importance, and when  she does not want the party why should Vrinda insist.  She says, that she is going to be her mother.   She blames all the problems of Ashta on the aunts.  She has something up her sleeves, which she does not let out.

Dev can not understand the behavior of the aunts.  Ashta cries and goes to her room.   The aunts are very proud that their plan has worked, and they have sowed enmity between Vrinda and Ashta, and slowly they march towards their destination.

Ashta is crying in her room, and behind the half opened door, Manjula gives the impression that she too is hurting.  She turns to the others and tells them that their baby is crying and they have to take care of her.

In the hall, the men and women discuss the 'natak' which they have been playing and the men are afraid this will leave a deep psychological scar on her mind.   The women have not been educated enough to know about the science of psychology.  They are well versed in the rituals and old traditions for their solutions.    When Mukesh says, that they will pay a high price for this drama, and Vrinda stands in front of them and tells them they do not have to worry, as she is resigning from this drama.    The women stand up, and take notice.    Vrinda starts her monologue:

"I know I am an actress, and drama is my profession and life.  But before being an actress, I am a human being.     For a human being, life is more important than any other consideration.    If it was only my life, I would not have any objection, but here it is the life of a simple child.   She is absolutely not aware that this is a drama.   I can not play with her emotions, just to earn money. "

Manjula as the leader of the aunts, goes to Vrinda and pleads and tells her that the idea was to take the thought of getting her father get married out of her mind.

Then comes Alpa with her hands swinging by her side, towards Vrinda, and starts her speech, saying the same thing in different words while their menfolk, quietly allow their wives to handle the situation.    One by one the women shake their heads, and give their opinions on what love means to them.  Actually they let of a lot of hot words, like hot air on a summer day.   They talk about step mothers, and the men say, that there should not be any ill effect on Ashta's mind.   They still want Vrinda to continue her act.

Manjula goes to Ashta and asks her to eat pav bhaji.   She starts her talk, trying to express her deep reasoning words to someone, whom they consider as a baby.   Does any one talk like this to a baby?    But these women have no idea of what they are doing.   she tries to get Vrinda out of the equation, and makes Ashta accept her change of plan.    Manjula then starts spoon feeding her baby, whom she expected to understand her high logic.   It is a pity the writers can not think of any other way of developing this story, and we just have to report what they have decided to show the viewers.

The women are shown as adamant in their plan, which is to create enmity between Vrinda and Ashta, till she comes to a point and asks her to leave.   This is the great scheme these women have made, to solve the problem.   One has to see, how their scheme works in front of the simple explanation of a young boy like Dev, who speaks from the heart.

Dev quietly open the door and comes  in the morning,  into Ashta's room where she is sleeping.   Dev shows her  a greeting card from Vrinda Ma, for her birthday, but she is telling him about what her Vrinda Ma did on the anniversary of her mother;s death and asks him if it was right.  He tells her that her nose is full of anger, and for a young girl like it that is not good.   When she see every thing as either black or white and refuses to forgive her Vrinda Ma, he tells her to take things in a positive sense.  He tells her that Vrinda Ma wanted to see her smile and be happy and so she arranged the party, and is it wrong to want to see her happy?   Why do you not ask her straight to her face, as to why is she doing like this?    Dev persuades her to say sorry to Vrinda Ma, and make up, and a smile lights up on her face, and she goes to her room.   Dev smiles a knowing smile, as he has already guessed the game plan of the aunts.

Ashta enters Vrinda's room and calls her name, but she is no where to be found.    She finds that her belongings are not in the room, and she is upset.    She goes down and calls her aunts and asks them.    She tells them that Vrinda Mas in not in her room, and then Parul asks her why did she go to her room.
Ashta tells them that she wanted to say sorry to her.   Manjula and the others squirm their faces, and look at Ashta, unable to understand her.  The Baby has made a somersault.   Manjula tells her that she may be in the garden, but Ashta tells her that her belongs too are not in the room, and Manjula asks in surprise, "Kya?"   In front of their "Baby" the women blurt out their suspicions, unaware that she is far more grown up, than they want to concede.

The women can not get Ashta's mind away from Vrinda, who has left the house with all her belongings, and her picture of Laddoo Gopal.   Ashta regrets she could not say sorry to her, and Dev is always taking her side, and tells her to be positive in her outlook.  As much as Dev puts efforts to take Ashta out her her morass, the women, are bent on keeping her in the time wrap of her under developed state of mind.   Manjula with her large green bindi on her forehead, is made to look like an evil old hag, even though deep in her heart, she does not realize that she is giving such impression from her behavior and the rest of the women in the Nanavati house, are so regressed in their thinking, that even the forward looking Rajeshwari also looks like someone risen to the 20th century from the anthills of the middle ages.

When Manjula finds her plans are floudering, and Ashta is leaning more and more towards Vrinda, and wants to know where she is, they go to the room where Vrinda was staying and find a letter on the bedside table, and Ashta picks it up, but the Monitor of the women, Manjula Nanavati, snatches it and says it is a shopping list, but Dev being a young man who has returned from the United States, and who must have seen the latest detective movies, senses a rat in their midst.

Manjula the versatile Shelock Homes from Nanavati House, devises her latest plan to foil Ashta.   She confuses the women, as Alpa discovers her jewelry is missing from her locked cupboard, and the women, atleast come to the sensible conclusion, that it is an insider job, but they do not suspect Manjula who has been spearheading all the scams in the house.   When the men decide to call the police, the evil genius of Manjula wakes up, and she wants 24 hours more, to find the culprit.,

She goes down in the night, and then her agent comes with the jewelry, and she makes a noise and all come down, and then he does his act, saying that he is not a thief, and has been sent by Vrinda, with whom he is engaged in such work.  He calls her a thief, and returns the jewelry.

Ashta watches them in silence.  Something is going on in her mind.   She must be asking herself, how can Vrinda be a thief, when she thrashed the real thieves, who robbed her and gave all the money back to her?    She knows something is fishy and Dev too is watching their game.

As usual the ladies of the house discuss on their plans, and how they manged to foil Ashta and her insistence to get her father married.

All except Manjula think, that the jewelry was taken by Vrinda, and even though I thought that Ashta might have known that it could not be Vrinda, she too is believing her Great Aunt Manjula, but complains to Laddoo Gopal, and asks him, why she allows such things.

Dev goes to the market and brings some bales of stuff for the work in their factory, and takes a coolie from there and they put the stuff in the taxi and come home.

The coolie, happens to be the same guy who brought back the jewelry, in the night.  When he sees Manjula, he is afraid, and even though he had to take some money from Dev, he hides and moves to another part of the house.   There Ashta spots him, and then she recollects that it was the same person she saw the previous night, but the man runs away.  Dev goes after him, and then catches him, and gives him a thrashing.   Just then, Manjula too rushes to the same spot, but no one questions Manjula, how she found him and came after him.  She too looks sternly at him and he is at a loss as to what he should do.

Manjula does not want him to say the deal he made with her.   She wants her reputation at home intact.

The Aunts try to convince Ashta that the person she saw was not the thief, as the one was caught and put in the prison by the police.  She is not convinced.   Dav gets a call from the merchant who tells him that the shop will be closed for the next two days, so he decides to take Ashta and go to the shop to get the merchandise.

In the shop, the coolie appears again, and Ashta spots him, and tells Dev, that he is the thief.   When Dev tries to confront him and ask him who told him to tell lies about Vrinda, he says, no one, but that he had stolen the jewels himself.  Ashta can not make head or tail of what he says.  She call her aunts, and they come rushing, as Manjula knows he is her man.   Before he can let the cat out of the bag, she puts a stop to him, by slapping him, and shoving some cash in his hand, and drives him away.

Ashta knows that Vrinda Ma was not at fault, and as she insists on finding her, Manjula promises her to do that.  Ashta is not satisfied, and when Dev finds her mobile number, he gets the address, and they go to meet her.   Vrinda has just given back the keys of her house, and is leaving town.   Ashta spots her in the rickshaw, and runs after her and meets with an accident, and Vrinda, and Dev take her to the hospital.    As usual with all the Hindi serials, they have bandaged the forehead, and there is a red splash on one side of the bandage, and the impression is given, that the accident is so serious, that her life is in danger.  The doctors huddle around and discuss on getting a second opinion, and she is taken for the CT scan.   Vrinda and Dev are sincerely waiting outside for a good outcome.

The then five ogres come rushing to the hospital, moaning and sobbing, and making all sorts of noises, to show that they are very  concerned aunts.  The whole display of their behavior appears like a big sham.  They make faces, and then lecture to Vrinda, and tell her to leave.   She is shown to be a pathetic woman, not knowing her way, in this jungle rulled by the tigresses of Nanavati house.

The Aunts are in the hospital, and they have driven Vrinda away, who is in front of the temple and praying.  The five guardians of Ashta, the aunts, bicker about Ashta, who is in intensive care.   The men too, are on one side, worried.   The doctor comes out and they want to know what the condition of Ashta is.  He asks who is Vrinda.   The aunts dodge the question, but do not get any answer.   The doctor wants Vrinda to go inside and meet the patient.

Two women are deputed to find Vrinda, whom they find near the temple, and impute wrong motives on Vrinda, and consider themselves having a greater interest for Ashta in their hearts, which the casual viewer will not be able to believe.   But they indeed do things as they think are fit for the welfare of their niece.   Vrinda finally comes and meets Ashta.   She has regained consciousness, and tells Vrinda to marry her father, and then her father is sent for, and Ashta puts the hands of Vrinda in the hands of Mohan, and extracts a promise, that hey will marry, and not ever, leave her alone.

The Aunts go home to prepare soup for Ashta, and then men are alone.  Mohan comes and tells them what Ashta has said, and they too come to the conclusion, that it is for the good of Ashta that he should marry Vrinda.  It is decided, and Mohan proposes to Vrinda, who obviously accepts.

In the preview, we are shown Manjula and her tantrums, and her copious tears, that Mohan has succumbed to Vrinda's tactics, and in spite of her age, and her love for Ashta, she does not know human nature, nor she knows to judge people.    It is a pity, money floods into the hands of people like this, and good human beings like Vrinda are left penniless.
