 Watching Historical movements in Bahrain!!!

TWO people were killed and at least 50 injured today as Bahrain's security forces moved in to clear anti-government protesters camped out in a central Manama square.

"Two people have been killed and at least 50 others injured, at least 10 of them seriously,'' said Matar Matar, spokesman for the Al-Wefaq movement, the main Shiite opposition group said.

Al Jazeera reported that police moved in on the Pearl Roundabout - the flashpoint of anti-government demonstrations since Monday - and used tear gas to disperse protesters in the early hours of today.

In the chaos an ABC News reporter was attacked, becoming the latest of several Western journalists to be assaulted while covering protests in the Middle East.

Miguel Marquez said he was beaten with clubs but was not badly injured, according to ABC.

"I just got beat rather badly by a gang of thugs. I'm now in a marketplace near our hotel where people are cowering in buildings,'' Marquez said.

I have never seen copper turning into gold even though I can confidently say that I have seen gold turning into copper after I bought it at a local pawn shop in Vegas to give it as a gift to my American friend marrying an Indian girl, in an expensive casino on the strip. I should have known that all that glitters is not gold, all that's big is not real, especially in Nevada. But since I paid the pawn shop guy with fake currency notes I guess you could call it even.

Now, I was in two minds whether to post the above in the a family issue, about my son thread because someone there seems to think that copper could turn into gold and I wanted to say "No ma'am, that ain't happening ma'am. I learned it the hard way ma'am. I am still staring at that piece of shizzle copper nugget that I "bought" and it still looks / smells / tastes (yes, tastes!) like copper ma'am".

Next I thought of posting it in the Indian vs. American Wedding? thread but, like I said, I was about to give this fake-gold-pure-copper nugget as a gift at an Indian-American wedding and not at an Indian vs. American wedding. Because of the fake currency that I successfully pawned off (hopefully, the owner's goons are not looking for me right now, as we speak; if they do, and if I don't post any more messages for 90 consecutive days starting from today, please feel free to replace the above-mentioned word - from successfully to unsuccessfully. That's all. You don't have to pen any big a$$ eulogies for me)

I don't know why I did this; I don't know if Rahat would do the same if he were in my position. May be, he would have gifted real USD to this couple, the ones that he was hawala-dar-ing out of the airport, while happily whistling "Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji".

I could have posted it in the Can corruption ever be tackled thread but since I myself am involved neck-deep in corruption, handing out fake currency and all, I figured I cannot assume a "high subjective moral ground" which will be looked at unsympathetically(!) by others on this board. As it is, my wife is angry at me and banned all valentine's days since time immemorial when I first gave her a cheap a$$ teddy bear and Hershey's candies as my Valentine's gift to her. How should I know that she was expecting a diamond necklace?! I told her to forget about it and let bygones be bygones but she asks me what she should she do with all those memories. I have no clue!

I suppose I could have created a new thread just a question to question where I need to post all my dukhda but looks like that topic is taken as well.

All of which means, I need to shut the hell up, eat my daily dose of junk food, and recite Gayatri mantra till Vijay agrees to my investment idea and I become somebody instead of  being a no good stay at home dad.  Thank God they made English compulsory at my school otherwise Vijay would have laughed at my intrepid boldness.

If anyone still has a question as to how much is too much this is it. After all one doesn't get angry for no good reason.

Crime no.1

Possession of fake currency

Crime no. 2

Duping a poor pawn shopkeeper

Crime no. 3

Being a miserly husband -

Gifting cheap teddies and candies inspite of possessing wads of fake currencies

Crime no. 4

Reciting the holy Gayatri Mantra with junk food in your belly. That's sacrilegious!

Crime no. 5

No good stay at home dad LOL

Assuming a high subjective moral ground, you ought to be put under trial. What sentence would be commensurate with the crime committed?

Should you be buried with the Pharoahs of Egypt? Well ,  that's  unfeasible at the moment,

thanks to the Middle East Unrest. Would sentencing you to solitary confinement in one of the amazing ghost cities of China do the trick? Or perhaps radio tagging till further investigation would be trendy and also more humane!

Just then an erstwhile denizen breaks in with  his outburst, "You fool, why did you have to sing when you couldn't sing memorable songs like Rahat. With money transfer options in India , you could have tried the home country. No one escapes by pawning fake currencies in Nevada. If the goons don't catch you the law would. That's what happens when underrated singers sing."

Now that's a bit unfair I agree! Lack of singing prowess could be attributed to parental discrimination …err but am I even getting the right meaning of the word 'sing'?

Hmm… a fair trial ought to  decide your fate.  But shouldn't someone  in search of Krishna be able to move on beyond the fusion of Gayatri mantra and  junk food before long? One could go on with mujhe bhi kuchh kehna hai in blah blah corner but with the ICC World Cup 2011 round the corner got to decide fast.

So, which path is better: To blow the whistle or not?

Thank goodness for small mercies! Not everyone neck deep in corruption can write confession letters and dukhdas  like  these. That would have made any task of whistleblowing  all the  more unpleasant and undoable . I'd be inclined  to overlook any indiscretions on his/her part !!! LOL
