'I criticize by creation, not by finding fault.'*
Devils r Critical Critters - We rarely go OMG! (EXCEPT SATURDAYSAngry)We prefer "Halla Bol"!  In simpler verbiage, criticism comes naturally to us.  My open challenge to all the next few Dens is to instead Deconstruct and Reconstruct the story that we watch!   Let's look at the story through DIFFERENT NAZARIYA, let's DISCUSS, but also REFLECT & IDEATE!

In keeping with that Next Weeks' Den Roster will be a MYSTERY!WinkIt Will be UnExpected - Shock or Surprise!Evil Smile That is for de Readers to Determine!  Each Den will have a theme - Someone/Something you can cream and stuff that will hopefully get u to howl n scream!  I will kick-off todayWink

Analyzers, before u chop chop next week read the opener's discussion topic (today's is THEME) and see if u can incorporate it.   Readers, If u don't read then do read the Analysis in the first 2-3 pages and discuss it.

THEME OF THE SHOW?
The title is "Geet:Hui Sabse Parayee" but, what is the theme of the show? Does anybody know? Is it "Justice"? Is it "Life"? Is it "Love"? Has the theme changed?  Has the scene changed?  Let's think about it!  And let's examine the evidence, haan!

This is one of the first promos of the show:

Shreya, my buttercup, gave me the link. It got me to THINK! The title maybe  Geet:HSP, but its about a girl living her life - zindagi - against all obstacles.  Its hopefully about her giving birth against all manacles.  Its about her finding love and happiness against all insurmountables.  Its about her finding Justice against all impossibles.  Its as simple and complex as that. Living life ain't that easy, so lets commend her for it.Clap

Let's stepback and celebrate her progress.  The story began with her fake marriage to a CONMAN who robbed her of her zest for life, but gave her the gift of "life".  That "life" gave her purpose - a reason to live.

All along there was another MAAN - a troubled soul sent to her by destiny. Someone for whom she is "life" not just "wife".

She has also battled those who wronged her. Learnt to stand up to the Sasha's of the world. Had her jungli bro jailed.  Got DevNt arrested though not "justice"! Lastly, she has boldly told the world her "truth" time & again and faced its condemnation with courage.  Now she is set to marry de "One".

So, the story's journey is complete, haan? NO! She learnt to live life, na? What else is there?  Plenty more should they wish to show theme wise...how does she "live" in high society? Life is not just romance, what about "education"? Moving forward surely means attaining "Justice"** - that loop remains open? (DevNt R out on bail, so they haven't got a free pass..let's not assume!) The practicalities of carriage ya miscarriage - how will Geet "live" it?  And lets not forget de impending marriage - Maan has SaMaan in is attic and remains a maan-o-mystery! "Live-in" with him, they will surely create new "history".ROFLROFL And her "tapkofying/jhatkofying" in-laws they sure won't make "living life" easy/peasy

**Some say "Justice delayed is Justice denied" and declare themselves pragmatic!  As a lawyer, i lauff at such "idealistic" naivety.  Justice is often *slooooooooooooooowwwwww*.  T.V. land's courtcase resolution rate and speed are actually better. Also, "Justice" is an ambiguous/amorphous term that varies from person to person.

Cute_Ash

Anj has challenged us to look at Geet HSP from different eyes the next few Dens.  To Deconstruct and Reconstruct the story that we watch!

So, today let's look at Daadimaa through new nazariya, let's DISCUSS, but also REFLECT & IDEATE!  What is her purpose in the story?  Is she the voice of "reason"?  A conveyor of past "information"?  An antagonist?  Maan's confidante? Or all of the above? How has she moved the story to date? What impact/purpose can she serve in the future?

Since I am the youngest member round here I have been given the oldest character to Justify Daadi..So I hope you don't sleep while reading thisLOL

Savitri Devi the oldest, mature and head of the Khurana Family. She has been a round character ever since the series started. She has been dynamic because her character changes according to the story. People have named her cupid sometimes stupid, a chameleon who changes colours, a pendulum who keeps on swinging from Maaneet's team to Devtara's team. So let's seehow and why does daadi keep on changing her mind? Why is she so confused about who is right Maaneet or Devtara?

Since she has entered we know that she has been trying hard to bring her whole family together because it has shattered into several pieces. Dev,Naintara,Pammi, kamya,Vicky, Anvesha and many more Khurana siblings which will keep popping out..In all this hunt she found geet working with Maan and realised they both are made for each other so she decided to become a cupid for them..She brought Geet to outhouse which gave sum amazing sensational Maaneet scenes but that is not the point. The point is if she did not bring Geet in outhouse they would have been fighting still. EVerytym they fought in outhouse she declared her palpitation problems which melted Maaneet and they were living with each other.. If she did not send Maan to Nizzamhudin we would have never seen a glimpse of that heavenly Teri deewani sequence in the dargah the spiritual side of their love..She appointed Geet to find a girl for Maan which made Geet realise she has feelings for Maan..She loves Maan..She pressurised Maan for a mangetar which made Maan bring Geet in front of her as her fake mangetar which continued Maaneet's Love Story..She did soo much for them and then one Fine day she herself kicked Geet out! WHY?

She Kicked Geet out after she ran away from the engagement when she realised Dev was Maan's brother. How could Daadi do that? Why didn't she give Geet a chance to speak up for herself? Becuse she was already poisoned by NT before Geet could say anything and moreover everything Daadissi never worried about herself. She always thinks about her Family's happiness and honour coz as the head of the family she needs to take care of it..In the hospital she adviced maan to remove the colourful glasses and try to see reality where it is colourless indicating that Geet  is not tht innocent she has several grey shades. Why did she say tht? She said what she was shown, NT had already poisoned her abt Geet's intentions towards Maan..

When Devtara were arrested NT was screaming her hoarses out how Khurana Family's honour pride everything is gone to the bins only cos of geet. When Media was spreading all kinds of rumors abt the family she was most affected..Even though she keeps on fainting now and then which makes us wonder whether she is pregnant..But unfortunately her days are gone she is old and her BP gets high everytym her grandson Maan is broken or her family's honour is at stake..She has made hasty decisions sumtyms by believing NT over Geet but at the end of the day she does realise that she is selfish. She ahs confessed several times to geet tht she has used her for selfish reasons becuase she knows tht only Geet can fix a broken Maan.

She has surely been a reason for a big misunderstanding between Maaneet when she was requesting Maan to bail Dev out.. She even ruthlessly advised Maan to forget everything that happened after the big misunderstanding between Maaneet. Why did she do tht when she knws Maan will never forget Geet? Why does she want to bail Dev out even when he was wrong? If she does tht this will encourage most spoilt sons tht go spend a night with a gal ditch her and if you go to jail by any chance your loving grandmom will get you out. BUT Daadi herself confessed during Diwali Party tht this is all her MAMTA the motherly love which made her helpless even when she knew dev was wrong and she begged geet to go and talk to Maan there. She has been indicating Sameera's existence mostly once in the outhouse after Maan behaved like an animal with geet and 2nd time diwali party so she understands her grandson's pain about Sameera very well.

She also been one of the cool Modern Grandmoms who many of us desire, I personally do because my grandmom is very strict hehe.. She is always upto mischief jus lyk the other day she bcame kabab mein haddi for maaneet and placed the 30 min clause for Maaneet..Her winks at docs to make her look more seirous when Maaneet were fighting in the outhouse sure makes all of us smile..She has been a reason to make us smile, cry, even make us angry bcoz of her silly demands. And at the same time she knows her limits when Maaneet were sleeping hand in hand after the pregnancy truth came out in Maan's room she had a problem bcoz tht is not how Indian traditions go..A girl and a boy cannot sleep like that..So she does follow all her traditions well too..She has great bonding with all her people Maan, dev, anvesha, nt and even meera..

Her Hope to see her whole family together is still incomplete because Vicky and other unknown siblings are yet to pop out..But right now she is too buzy preparing her dream come true Her favourite grandson's wedding Maan..She has always behaved according to the situation, she looks at every phase according to how the conseqences will affect her family members..Just bcoz of tht she decided to take off all the charges against NT which hasn;t taken place yet since it is in Geet's hands and not Daadi's. BUt my main Point is Daadi has played a huge role in Maanet's life whether it was good or bad..Whatever she has done she has a selfish reason for her Family's happiness and moreove her Grandson Maan's happiness..Her character has not developed it has always been consistent to see her loved ones happy..

For the future she will change colours again when she discovers Geet is pregnant! But we have to just watch it further on how she changes her colours according to the situation..So let's think how she will react to this truth and how did Maan accept Geet with such a huge responsibility or it may be a flaw in her eyes..

Hopefully I have tried to justify her character well..If you have any questions Feel free to ask me!
And at last a VM to support my justification

And I need personal Review from each one of you No acting Lajii HAANGeek

geet.a

Hey guys!

Let's continue the deconstruction and reconstruction today and discuss PLOT-lines..Potential story lines open for the show

What do you think would make the show more interesting..what creative tracks could be followed that would bring out the max potential in characters?Big smile

Here are some ideas by moi!

Mahabharata based plotlines:

Maan as Karna fighting for a private morality

standing by his asools even if they are against the societal norms and do what he thinks is right.

Geet is Draupadi who has also been wronged and doesn't bow down to societal pressures. She asks questions and answers boldly when she's asked.

Sure of herself, along with Karna faces challenges in the form of NT,Arjun, Daadi(as the Matriarch and upholding family honor even at the cost of personal right sometimes, Sasha-Tasha and Society as a whole)

Parallel tracks can be developed while showing the personal and private life of a married Maneet- along with their baby.

KArna was also v loyal to his wife and children. So..he was a family man..a caring and loving man.

After marriage- as story progresses

Maan may have to fight with his past- if Sammy is brought in and Geet will stand with him. They will be each others' strengths no matter whatever others say.

MAan's past could also have the angle of being an illegitimate child

how does he copes with that?

Questions of owning the Khurana property and being the rightful heir.

Dev(if he could be gray) OR Arjun being the cunning Duryodhan who questions his right to Khurana constructions and how Maan argues his way out- perhaps Dadi may be swayed again on the opposite side of Maneet.

We could then have a really bad situation due to which company incurs loads of losses but Maan is the one who saves the day-the hero, of course..LOL and is restored to his former glory.

Dev could also fight for the baby( as he was pretending to be positive but really was waiting for the right time to strike)- and also for Geet(not because of love or lust..but because Geet as Maan's wife would be 51 per cent share holder) Along with all this the focus would be simultaneously on Maan and Geet ka relationship and how it strains, changes, grows into further maturity and experience, along with highlighting the very important social issue of property

Pandavas combined in Maan, Arjun as Karna

As a private man- Maan can also represent all the good qualities of the Pandavas..united together because of Draupadi aka Geet.

Then, Mr Arjun has to be based on Karna as someone who knowing what he did was not right, stuck by it because he was loyal to his friend Duryodhan.

Arjun can be shown as a really good guy..or a little naughty too..because he has an agenda of using Annie and destroying MSK. But even after knowing the full truth- he still  stands loyal to NT.

NT has to be Duryodhan here'or Shakuni.

Khuranas and Khurana Constr are then Pandavas and unke allies.

We could have a development of Sasha's character here and how she changes from negative to positive and makes the decision to stay loyal to Maan.

Arjun as a man, who genuinely falls for annie and becomes friends with Geet and then realizing that he doesn't want to take any revenge.

Finding out the truth behind NT-Dev fiasco.

Going and actually talking to either Dev..and in the event..killing him

OR- he could suffer and yet stay loyal to NT

Some other options and thoughts based on literary plots

To portray Maneet love in a different way-

Geet bani Shakuntala with Maan as Duhsanta- Kalidasa's Abhijnanasakuntalam

We may see something like Shakuntala of Kalidas..where the romance bit between Duhsana and Sakuntala leads to not the birth of Bharat..but fruition of a unit that  has been destined and that faces all challenges thrown to them.

The Rasa theory can play a big part here as it can actually help in making a kind of packaged epi-which evokes the maximum pleasure ;)

King Duhsana also is a really arrogant, attitude wala stalker who falls in love with this  girl close to nature (kind of Big City versus Country)

Duhsanta, like Maan visits the village(country side).  He doesn't listen t o anyone but himself and becomes a really sad man after he realizes Sakuntala was his wife. The memory angle can be left out.LOL

Sakuntala raises her voice to him in front of  his own kingdom(well..Geet has done it too) etc etc he repents and finally destiny brings them together.

After that- where the Play ends- our MB can begin :)

Oh and we can have Adi as the friend

Duhsanta was created like the warrior king..he is like the modern MSK

This can be used if ever also there is the need to show a small MU after marriage when Sammy comes in

Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra- A love that requires a measure large enough

Maan can be portrayed as Antony. Of Antony and Cleopatra.Geet as Cleopatra

Cleopatra being very beautiful but Rome unable to see her as anyone except stereotypically Oriental.

MAan and Geet - 2 people of awesome personalities coming together in a love that goes beyond any measure.

Maan as this Hero- worshipped by all his people but when he becomes Geet's- seen as only a love-sick puppy..but even in his LOVE for Geet- his identity as Maan  is not sacrificed because she LOVES him because he is her Dusht Danav.

We have Arjun as Octavious. Sammy can be Octavia Whom Antony doesn't love but had to marry(no marriage here) for a political alliance.

If we have NT- Sammy as cousins or something'then she is also Arjun's cousin..so a match was arranged for MAan and he was cool with it cuz he had no other bright ideas..and wanted to make Dadi happy(who BTW can be ROME..ROFL)

We are taking character traits from the play..NOT the story!

This could explain why Maan wasn't attracted to Sammy- cuz she was dull and timid..and so he thought of as every woman but Geet was different J

The Iliad- Homer

The greatest Warrior-Hero Ever

Achilles- the greatest warrior in the world. The best fighter around..and the hawtest no doubt!  MSK is Achilles for the world'but HECTOR for his family. HECTOR who was equally a great warrior-but not a demi-God.

Hector who had a family. Who protected Helen..

Paris- can be Dev- his character is like Dev. Irresponsible..flitting from here to there.

But we would in a way have to bring back HP and show a family rivalry here'if they want Geet back.

Who of course is Helen-a completely independent and fiery woman who inspired a war. The most beautiful too.

A thought about Logic and linearity

Sometimes we can suspend disbelief and let our imaginations rule- Saturday's glitter reminded some of us about A Midsummer Night's Dream'

Logic is important- but thinking may not always be linear.

Geet as a Flaneur- Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf

Geet- can be seen as the character of MRS Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. Clarrisa Dalloway-even after marriage- retains her identity.

Makes all moments of happiness count..and transcend linear time. She doesn't let go of her identity just like Geet wouldn't when she's Geet Maan Singh Khurana.

She will be GEET and then Maan's wife. Her experiences and the intensity of feeling in those experiences might sometimes be shared with Maan..sometimes not expressible to him..so it becomes an experience with herself and her baby. Geet here can be shown sharing feelings and talking to the baby in her womb

Pride and Prejudice- Austen

Wickham Arjun and Lydia Annie, Darcy Maan

Arjun has to take revenge from Maan and so he pretends to like both Geet as well as Annie and Annie falls for him while Geet gets to know what's wrong.

We could have a sort of friendship between Geet and Arjun and have a jealous Maan back ;)

In conclusion- The Annie- Arjun track can be developed in myriad ways. Because let's face it- she's here to say.

And as per GEET admin- Vicky will come one day too..so he could be positive or negative. He could be MAan's ally or Dev's...

Arjun and Maan may have started as rivals, become amiable with each other, Arjun could diverse here(2 options available) and depending on that could be taken forward.

The conclusion of the tracks eventually

all of them will lead to Maneet winning against NT.

NT-DEv have to be brought to justice

Since we all love maneet chemistry- we need to have their own little Eden disrupted of course by the threat of Satan aka Dev (if he's not bumped off and is negative) and the art of storytelling combine to make the show retain its Uniqueness.

These plots will help the show build up strong characters and plots- both central and parallel. A directive of sorts and yet CV's have the freedom to create a pastige of stories that blend into one another.

I am not comparing really but like how it's done in for example The Vampire Diaries or Gossip Girl- diverse tracks developed and brought together.

By concentrating a bit on showing -humor, suspense and romance etc in each episode will make it less-monotonous for viewers so they won't get bored of things.

Pressure will be less too on the leads as other characters are developed and their storylines are fleshed out too.

We have good actors in Praneet(Adi), Tasha, Abhishek(Romeo), Sasha(flesh her character out!),Karishma is there, now Arjun, we have Dadi, perhaps HP family se Brij and Rajji can be brought back if there's potential.

There are many doors that would be opened which can widen the show's prospects if we have some frame of references for characters and creatively incorporate their characteristics in the show ppl

So these are just some plausible plot and reference points- from where the CV's could develop the plot in various directions, strengthen characters, develop further story lines and maintain interest :))

How can Meera's track be developed? or Dev's ended

Has he ever shown any kind of repentance? what exactly has he done except whine that he will do something?Ouch

What purpose would it serve?

Will Arjun change?

will annie change?

Who will annie be with?

Will Arjun and Geet be friends?

Will Arjun unite with Dev or will Maan and Dev unite against Arjun?

Bring on Original Ideas and adaptations of movies!!

Hola Party People.....Tis the season to be jolly and wanky...so what better way to start the season's celebrations than dissecting our favorite Craziest CharacterWinkLOL
So here we go!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (thats the sound u make on a  roller coasterLOLLOLLOL)

                                              Maan Singh Khurana

                                An Extensive Case Study

Maan Singh Khurana. He is a man of many qualities with different facets. He is handsome, rich and famous. He is a recluse, who is reserved but kind hearted as well. He is a perfect man, who is an ideal lover for women across the globe. He is smart, intelligent and every woman's dream. However, this seemingly perfect man also has many flaws. The flaws that becomes evident when you get closer and look deep enough. Maan Singh Khurana is a troubled man. A man who is suffering from a lot of issues in his past which occasionally manifest itself in his conduct. He is a man of many layers and every layer has secrets embedded in it. In short, Maan Singh Khurana has problems which need to be examined closely to understand his character.

Every Man is a Product of his experience, so is Maan. I believe Maan has lived a very distressed life so far that has made him the man that he is today. He is a man in need to be understood and dealt accordingly. In other words, Maan is in dire need of a therapist and psychiatric help'so here is my explanation why:

  1. Ambivalent and Avoidant Attachment Issues:  Attachment issues are an essential part of human beings mental make up. John Bowlby, a renowned psychologist has done extensive research on Attachment issues. According to him, Attachment is "lasting psychological connectedness between human beings" (Bowlby, 1969, p. 194). Marie Ainsworth, another psychologist created a strange situation paradigm to analyze the attachment between children and their parents. According to her paradigm, research in this area indicates that patterns established in childhood have an important impact on later relationships. Keeping this Paradigm in mind, Maan seem to be suffering from Ambivalent and avoidant attachment issues.

The criterion of Ambivalent Attachment has three distinct characteristics:

a)      Reluctant to become close to others; Maan always refuses to get close to people; he is always curt with Dadima, the most important person in his life. He was extremely wary and distant from his brother Dev. In fact, he doesn't even have friends; he has an office staff instead who he is working for a considerable period of time with but still has to struggle to be cordial with. For example, the whole series.

b)      Worry that their partner does not love them; Maan is very insecure in forming a bond. He was so anxious that Geet didn't love him before he even himself admitted to having any feelings for her. He went to lengths to prove to himself and get her to admit her love for him without ever expressing his own love for her. For example, testing Geet over and over again during Pari's cameo

c)      Become very distraught when a relationship ends; it is extremely evident that Maan was very distraught and bears deep scars from his previous break up. For example, break up with Sameera.

The Criteria for Avoidant Attachment are stated below:

a)      May have problems with Intimacy: we have witnessed it many times. Maan does not like to become emotionally intimate with anyone. In fact he hides important things from his Dadima, the most important person in his life. He also doesn't confide everything in Geet either, even though he is madly in love with her. For example, Geet still doesn't know that Maan has a brother named Vicky, or He was in a relationship with a woman named Sameera previously.

b)      Invest little emotions in social and romantic relationships: this is one is very tricky, it took Maan a long time to come to terms with his feelings for Geet and to accept them. However, he still remains a social recluse. He doesn't have friends and he doesn't interact with anyone but his family and Geet.

c)      Unable and Unwilling to share thoughts and feelings with others: Maan is always unable to share his most private feelings with anyone. He can never confess to dadima how much he was in love with Geet. Similarly, he can't even properly confess to Geet how much he loves her. For example, I m still waiting for an EXPLICIT I LOVE YOU!!!!! And He hasn't also confessed about Sameera to Geet.

2)  Defense Mechanisms: Defense mechanisms are one way of looking at how people distance themselves from a full awareness of unpleasant thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Maan have used them through out the series so far, I am only going to mention the two most commonly used by Maan:

Denial: Denial is the refusal to accept reality or fact, acting as if a painful event, thought or feeling did not exist. It is considered one of the most primitive of the defense mechanisms because it is characteristic of early childhood development. Many people use denial in their everyday lives to avoid dealing with painful feelings or areas of their life they don't wish to admit. For instance, Maan used denial to convince himself that he didn't have feelings for Geet.
    • Projection: Projection is the misattribution of a person's undesired thoughts, feelings or impulses onto another person who does not have those thoughts, feelings or impulses. Projection is used especially when the thoughts are considered unacceptable for the person to express, or they feel completely ill at ease with having them. For example, him being continuously angry at Geet in the Indian Paints office, where Geet should have been mad at him for following her like a creep.

3)      Narcissism or Narcissistic Personality Disorder

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

a.       Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements). For example, Maan Singh Khurana does not need anyone.

b.       Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love. For example, Maan Singh Khurana's Fiance demands.

c.       Believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions). For example, The Dhabba incident.

4) Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder:

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, OCD, is an anxiety disorder and is characterized by recurrent, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviors (compulsions). People with OCD may be plagued by persistent, unwelcome thoughts or images, or by the urgent need to engage in certain rituals. For Example, being Obsessed with the girl you are in love with. Stalking the object of your desire consistently, even when you tell yourself that you hate her.

5) Intermittent explosive disorder:

Intermittent explosive disorder is characterized by repeated episodes of aggressive, violent behavior in which you react grossly out of proportion to the situation. Road rage, domestic abuse, and angry outbursts or temper tantrums that involve throwing or breaking objects may be signs of intermittent explosive disorder (IED).

Multiple incidents in which the person failed to resist aggressive impulses that resulted in deliberate destruction of property or assault of another person. How many times have we seen Maan pushing and Pulling Geet? Was twisting her arm during Shimla trip called for??
The degree of aggressiveness expressed during the incidents is completely out of proportion with the precipitating event. Remember how Maan pushed Geet against the elevator wall when she was just trying to speak to him?? and there are countless other incidences where Maan has been unusually aggressive.

The aggressive episodes aren't accounted for by another mental disorder and are not due to the effects of a drug or a general medical condition. That I cant be sure of'.however, he hasn't shown any drug problems or any other mental condition which would explain his sudden outburst of anger and aggression.

6)  Hubris Syndrome:

Hubris Syndrome is a very curious condition. It is commonly known as the "God Complex". According to Clinical medicine, "Hubris syndrome is associated with power, more likely to manifest itself the longer the person exercises power and the greater the power they exercise. Usually symptoms abate when the person no longer exercises power. It is less likely to develop in people who retain a personal modesty, remain open to criticism, have a degree of cynicism or well developed sense of humour." Reminds of Maan, doesn't it?

the diagnosis of hubris syndrome typically grow in strength with time and exercising Power. At least three or four symptoms from the following tentative list should be present before any such diagnosis be contemplated:

* a narcissistic propensity to see the world primarily as an arena in which they can exercise power and seek glory rather than as a place with problems that need approaching in a pragmatic and non-self-referential manner: Remember Maan takes decisions for people, whether it be saving them or telling them that they have to come with him to Amritsar.

a predisposition to take actions which seem likely to cast them in a good light, taken in part in order to enhance their image : this symptom was indirect, he cared a lot what the people in that conference room heard when Geet rejected him. he is also pretty careful about Khurana khandan ki izzat.

* a disproportionate concern with image and presentation same as above. He exalted in knowing that he was the most coveted bachelor in town.

* a messianic manner of talking about what they are doing and a tendency to exaltation in speech and mannerQuoting Maan " Geet You Need Me", that little sentence explains a lot.

* a tendency to talk of themselves in the third person or use of the royal 'we';constantly reffering to himself as Maan Singh Khurana

excessive confidence in their own judgement and contempt for the advice or criticism of others;  how dare Geet save the presentation in front of Mr Chopra? Without seeking consent from Maangod ?

* exaggerated self-belief, bordering on a sense of omnipotence, in what they personally can achieve ; Maan Singh Khurana Sub Kuch karsakta hai'..

* a belief that rather than being accountable to the mundane court of colleagues or public opinion, the real court to which they answer is much greater: have we ever seen him give proper explaination for his behavior to his own beloved Geet?? Did he ever told her why he let Dev out of jail? He thinks he is not accountable to her.

* restlessness, recklessness and impulsivenessKurban Hua moment, Announcing wedding in front of the press without asking Geet first and Khoon Bhari Maang

* loss of contact with reality, often associated with progressive isolation; resorting to tai-chi, Maan-chi, wood-chi and recently Hoo Haa, rather then talking to people, making friends.

7) Passive Aggressive Personality Disorder:

A pervasive pattern of negativistic attitudes and passive resistance to demands for adequate performance, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicted by four (or more) of the following:

a)      passively resists fulfilling routine social and occupational tasks: How many times have we seen Maan actually working in the office??

b)      complains of being misunderstood and unappreciated by others : How many times he complains about being misunderstood by dadi and Geet??

c)      is sullen and argumentative: LOL do I even have to say anything??

d)      unreasonably criticizes and scorns authority : Outhouse fiasco, Complaining about Dadima annoying him.

e)      expresses envy and resentment toward those apparently more fortunate: okay maybe not this one !!

f)       voices exaggerated and persistent complaints of personal misfortune: Dadima ki Complain ki dukaan is always open for Maan.

g)      alternates between hostile defiance and contrition: Defy affections for Geet by manhandling her and then feeling contrite after doing it. Watch Dargah episode before and after.

In Conclusion, all I want to say is that, Maan is a very troubled man. He might be very "dreamy" and all but he really has some issues that need to be resolved. So CVs and Devils I implore you to look closely at your favorite character and try to explore how some of these conditions arose in the first place. Many of these conditions are stemming from childhood and having unresolved issues with parents, caregivers and siblings. So please explore this faade of Maans character and send him for Therapy because in reality he is in need of help.

so if you guys thought that i was done with just this much.........u are sorely mistaken my people....aisa mauqa mujhey pir kahan mileyga??WinkLOLEvil Smile

Aisa Bhi Hota Hai Part 2

Since I like Maan so much (rolling eyes) and I m Oh So Curious about some of his extremely weird behavior here are some more conditions that I have diagnosed him off. Well, I am being extremely serious here; in fact if I was anymore serious I would be named Sirius Black!!! Hehehe just kidding....'couldn't help my self.......'so yea this is all PHUN with very little sense ;) ENJOY!!

 Melancholia:

Melancholia, also know as Major depressive disorder, is a mental disorder characterized by an all-encompassing low mood accompanied by low self-esteem, and by loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities. Maan has always been depressed, always doing tai-chi or wood-chi and never showing interest in normal pleasures of life. Like, having friends, reading, traveling and in any other activity. He is always trying to avoid situation which involve having fun and loosening up. He doesn't like to do it himself and he doesn't even like it when others do it. For example, He was such a Grinch during the Chopra launch party where everyone's doing Bhangra'.he just has to blow everyone's bubble'and he only likes his Coke can'the one he was carrying with him in HP days.

 Compulsive Hoarding:

In 1996 Randy O Frost and Tamara L Hartl defined compulsive hoarding with the following:

The acquisition of, and failure to discard, possessions that appear to be of useless or of limited value. b) Living spaces so cluttered that using the room as intended is impossible c) Significant distress or impairment to function. Two Words "SPOOKY ROOM".  Do I need to say anymore?? Why would a normal person hoard things which have hurt him from his past?? It is clear that Maan is suffering from Compulsive Hoarding.

Anorexia Nervosa:    is an eating disorder characterized by refusal to maintain a healthy body weight and an obsessive fear of gaining weight, often coupled with a distorted self image which may be maintained by various cognitive biases that alter how the affected individual evaluates and thinks about her or his body, food and eating. For example, Maan is obsessed with his body image. Compulsive excercising, and when have we ever seen Maan eat anything but that Papaya episode?? Before that he kept avoided eating and after that he is still avoiding it.

Fetishism:

Fetishism is the use of an inanimate object or a specific part of the body for physical or mental sexual stimulation. This sexual behavior is widespread and takes many forms, from benign (a preference for the partner's wearing of lingerie before sex) to vicious (a rapist cutting a lock of hair from the victim for use in masturbation). The disorder characteristics are:

Repeatedly for at least 6 months the patient has intense sexual desires, fantasies or behavior concerning the use of inanimate objects (such as shoes, underwear). In Maan's Case it's the Duppatta, Geet's duppatta to be specific. He is always playing with it.

This results in clinically important distress or impairs work, social or personal functioning. With the fear of sounding redundant, how many times have we actually seen Maan working? Or behaving normally?

Mild form of Exhibitionism:

He is stripping all the time'.maybe he is not exposing the real thing Exhibitionist show'but he has the tendency to not wear clothes'even in front of Dadima'.I mean what the hell?

Mildly Voyeuristic' "A Peeping Tom":

Isnt he watching Geet all the time? Even when she is changing? I mean dude get a life' he has so far watched her change three times as I recollect. Once, during Roop Tera Mastana sequence, next, during the engagement preparations and the third time was when he walked in on her in Indian Paints. It seemed really romantic, but in real life it's just plain creepy. I mean why he can't give the girl some privacy. He is just smothering her with all his stalking and his voyeuristic tendencies.

Well, I had thought of adding Learning disabilities in Maan here as well since he never learns from his Past'.I mean he had a girlfriend/wife/romantic interest before rt? So y doesn't he do anything'well whatever and he also doesn't learn anything from his own mistakes'keeps pissing Gith off'.Cheapskate Looser!!! But since I m feeling very generous I m going to leave him alone now.

Mucho Love

Since I m suppose to play the role of a defence lawyer for Maan Singh KhuranaLOL..so here I m with my short but mayb powerful defenceErmm..

To understand the character of MSK,first we need to understand the general mentality of a guy but since we all r girls or women out here,do we really understand the complex emotions or mood swings that a opposite gender goes throughErmm...

We r forming a particular opinion about MSK from a typical female POV...our research work too is somewhere from a female's POV...but its not necessary that a guy with a painful past will have same complexities and emotions like a girl with a similar past..

Girls use their emotions and tears as a strong defence mechanism to garner sympathy from the opposite sex...but here the guys falter since their emotions or tears r actually their weakest point..While girls get courage from their emotional or traumatic moments ,guys normally go into a shellOuch..Reason is simple..its God's creation...Women r emotionally more stronger and determined than men..reason they hv the biggest power to give birth to a new life...whereas Men's strongest point is their physical strength and ability to protect their women from the odds of the society..so when we r judging a guy..we need to remember these points and then judge his basic natureSmile

I hv prepared my defence for MSK based on these above points

Let me divide MSK into three parts hereTongue

Dusht Danav Ajnabee Guy of Hoshiyarpur:I hv often noticed that many hv judged the basic characteristics of MSK from what they hv seen in HP and r still continuing to do so;But my question is was that the Real MSK we have seen in HPErmm; If I m not wrong then we viewers were not even aware of his name in the first few episodes; He just came across as a savior for Geet who was a loner with a typical angry young man image searching for someone mysterious and came out as a women hater but that doesn't mean its his basic nature..thats where we as viewers have a big misconception that MSK was a women hater then how come he is now all fine with so many women in his familyLOL;We r here judging MSK from his HP avataar where he was just an unknown stranger who just showed a part of his personality but do we hv any idea about his past life ?;We still dunno why he was in HP or who he was searching for ?;We have seen a smiling image of MSK in the attic room which clearly suggested that his HP avataar was not the real MSKTongue; In short he was just wearing a mask of hatred in HP but that doesn't portray MSK's real natureSmile...

Dusht Danav Business Tycoon of Delhi Before falling for Geet:Here we saw another shade of MSK's personality ;He was still the angry young man of HP but here MSK sort of contradicted his HP image and showed that he is not really a loner nor does he really hate women ..why ?because a loner cannot handle such a big business empire like Khurana ConstructionsWink and a woman hater cannot appoint a women that is Sasha as their chief company ArchitectEvil Smile; So this means what we saw in HP was not really the MSK but someone whose life had gone into a shell because of his past happenings and what we saw in HP was just a part of his dejected self and not his real selfSmile; So does that mean this Delhi MSK is the real MSK we know ??Ermm..Not really because even now he kept suffering from various mood swings once Geet made an entry in his company and its not because its his basic nature ..its because till now he was successful in putting a mask on his real self but Geet was slowly taking that mask away from his face and he was scared of the fact that the Attic room wala MSK will b soon exposed to the world which is his real self..so even in the initial days of Delhi what we saw was not really the real MSKSmile...

Dusht Danav  Business Tycoon of Delhi after falling for Geet:Here we finally got the real MSK ..the one which was introduced to the viewers in Attic roomSmile,...Its the smiling and happy Maan who has a heart which he can show it to the world...Who wants to enjoy his life like normal humans..who wants to dance bhangra on his engagement day...who wants to go for shopping with his GithTongue...who wants to shower gifts and happiness on his family and submit him fully to his ladyloveEmbarrassed..thats the real MSK...and not the one which we saw in HP or early Delhi days..that was just an illusion created of the dusht danav who is now converted into a normal human that he was prior to HP daysEmbarrassed ...now the question is why did he ever turn into a dusht danav that we witnessed in HPErmm..Thats a mystry of MSK's past which is yet to b revealed and before knowing that mystry we simply cannot pass judgement on MSK's character consistencyTongue...

Common Issues about MSK's character from a General Viewer's POV...

MSK talks about truth and honesty and expects Geet to b honest with him but himself is hiding his own past from Geet..why ?:
When MSK talked about truth and honesty with Geet for the first time before confession..it doesn't necessarily mean truth+honesty=Geet's pastBig smile ;He just wanted Geet to b loyal and honest in their relationship but was never interested knowing his past which was evident in hum tum episode when he himself told Geet to stop if she is not comfortable discussing her pastEmbarrassed; He always knew Geet has a past but still he went ahead with his feelings in pee loon sequence and wanted to hear ILU from her mouth ;So in short MSK never wanted Geet to disclose her past to him ;Geet herself decided to do so because she was carrying her past baggage in the present which will cast a shadow on their future; But thats not the case with MSK;His past is closed and locked in that attic room/...so for him truth and honesty is equal to the present and their future ...He doesn't consider past =truth+honestry in his as well as Geet's case..reason why he never diclosed it to Geet ;Also men never like to show their past weaknesses to their future wife irrespective of how much honest u r....reason is simple..I already stated in my above description ..thats how God has created men and womenLOL...but yes if his past casts a shadow on thier future..he will not keep quiet..he will live upto his words of truth and honestyApprove

MSK was more passionate and agressive before ..now what happened to the passion or the aggression..why its not fully there 24/7:ROFL
When MSK was fighting hard with his own real self in HP and early Delhi days because Geet's presence was changing him,he displayed wild and raw passion mixed with agression to make sure he doesn't let any Gith to break those strong walls of his heart  that he has built around in his life to keep happiness away because that time for him happiness was equal to pain..I m not saying it....Its Attic room wala MSK's confessionBig smile..remember this very important episode everytime we think about MSK's characterTongue; When he admits that he has already fallen for Geet and now he wants to accept the change in his life and return back to his real self and become the attic wala MSK again, his raw+wild passion was converted into soft passionate desire to win over the girl of his dreams who has exposed him to his own real selfEmbarrassed;Once the confession happens and he knows that Geet is his forever, his passionate desire gets converted into pure and divine love and respect for his lady which is also another subtle form of passion onlyEmbarrassed; When they go through the separation phase ,we saw the return of that HP wala dusht danav again with raw passion and agression because he was revisiting a similar trauma that he has already witnessed in his past and we saw the real wild side of MSK in the pool party fiascoTongue; This is the time we see the confession coming from MSK that this is not him..he is not like this...and right after that we see the return of the real MSK who is passionate but not wild...who is possesive but not obsessive...who has bedroom eyes for his ladylove but not lusty eyesWink..who believes in divine love and not physical pleasure.,.So MSK is still passionate but not in a wild but subtle mannerSmile

Why MSK is not giving justice to Geet by sending Dev-NT to jail:
I m not a lawyer so my defence might not b strong in this caseLOL;But what do we mean by justice exactly ??Din't MSK do justice with Geet by breaking all ties with Dev and NT and is not ready to call any sort of ceasefire despite Dadi's requestTongue;and Justice takes time if we see the real world where such cases r pending in court since 10-15yrs and still people r waiting for justice..whether u r MSK or SRK,....u cannot expect justice in few days time...and did MSK ever said he will take the case back  ??Ermm ..So why jump to conclusions ??Tongue...

Why MSK is so over-confident about himself and expects his word to b the final word:LOL;Because thats how God has created Male SpeciesROFL...MSK is no differentBig smile

MSK is a human or Angel or a Greek God or a dream or a Illusion..do such characters exist in real life ?:
MSK is a human with flaws that even typical men hv in them but in reel life, viewers want to create a illusion of a greek God in their mind who should b a pavitra virgin with picture perfect qualities..not to forget should ooze passion with his eyes 24/7 only for his ladylove and no other womenLOLLOL...when CVs broke this myth ,people said MSK changed...but MSK never changed ...only the illusion that was created in the minds of the viewers was brokenBig smile;MSK like any normal human is going through different phases of his life and is reacting as per different situations in which he is put in..The negativity that was residing in him in HP or early Delhi days has been wiped off from his life once Geet enteredTongue; So now whatever gestures MSK  does is that of a normal human; He is still the angry young man with attitude for the corporate world where he is a business tycoon but in front of his family and his ladylove,he enjoys being the normal human going for shopping..learning choreography for his sangeet ceremany..cribbing with his fiance while selecting cards..pampering his little sister and making sure Dadi is happy Embarrassed....Coming to whether MSK like men exist in real life or not..well MSK:The real human exists in real life but MSK:The God doesn'tSmile

Why MSK is so slow when it comes to Action:ROFL;
Its because he is trying to match upto the level of his Gith who is even more slower and took almost light years to reach to Maan from her Maan SirROFLROFLROFLROFL;If Munda doesn't take it sloww...then his Gith will not glow..because she will feel awkward of his extreme passionflow..and this will make their already complex relationship even more complex and slowLOLLOL...

Why MSK still hides many issues from Geet:
He doesn't hide..we saw it in today's episodeWink..its just that he takes it slow when it comes to Geet since she has a childhood habbit of running away from himLOL whenever she feels that she is the root cause of MSK's problemsOuch; So every time MSK needs to find a good shubhmahurat to give her the non-existent brother-sister type jhatkasROFLROFLROFLROFL

Will MSK go bankrupt ?Shocked..Is he that dumb ?Shocked..how can he blindly believe anyone ...no this is not our MSKAngry
Those who still hv these questions can go and watch today's episode for the answersROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFL

The Forgotten: The Original Villain of GHSP

"[A story] is only as good as its villain. Since the heroes and the gimmicks tend to repeat from [story] to [story], only a great villain can transform a good try into a triumph." ~ Roger Ebert

Dev the Villain

The villain, the antagonist, the bad guy: Every story, not matter how big or small, needs one and every story is incomplete without one. Without a villain to oppose the hero, the story is lackluster and the hero is left without a job. Yes, the hero may romance the heroine in various locations and settings, steal a few kisses, but that is not exactly being heroic, now is it?  Villains simply make the story interesting. You might find their actions despicable and morally repugnant; you may very well hate them with every fiber of your being, yet, they engage you. They are complex and well rounded characters that have much depth than their exteriors care to reflect. They are often associated with dark and troubled pasts or an injustice of some sort. A realistic villain is one whose motivations and extremism are described by their experiences.

Dev Khurana was built to be the perfect the villain. When Dev made his entrance as a suitable groom for Geet, the audience was instantly drawn to him. There was something appealing about him. At face value, he was the prince charming and every girl's dream. He was "rich", stylish, and yes good looking. His smirk could make your heart skip beat and leave an eerie feeling at the pit of your stomach simultaneously. He was believable as the hero. However, underneath it all was a man with a dark soul; he is a master charmer, a womanizer, a pathological liar and an opportunist. He is a man who gambled away his wealth and tricked a young girl into a fraudulent marriage for money.  He schemed, he calculated and exploited a girl's innocence for his advantage and he never repented, not even for a second. Dev Khurana was the devil in disguise.

A man is a product of both nature and nurture. When Dev is considered, both nature and nurture has blessed him with the worst of their qualities. He is truly a product of his father, the elusive Papa Khurana. He is a womanizer and his promiscuity knows no bounds. He cheated on his wife with Geet and then he turns around and does to same with Meera.  His upbringing clearly didn't make up for the disastrous genes in his bloodline. He is the Khurana that never belonged, the black sheep, and a pariah of sorts to his own family. He was not Dadi's favorite and most certainly not his father's. He didn't have the control over the family wealth or as a matter of fact neither did he have any say in it. His upbringing made him resentful and selfish. Nonetheless, Dev is a chameleon in many ways. His true nature is concealed.

When Maan cut off his funds and made him a true pariah, his true colors surfaced. Dev is innately an exploiter. He used everyone in his life to his advantage. He used Maan for his money. For Dev, Maan had the equivalence value of an ATM with unlimited funds. He used his wife Naintara; he used her to come up with a plan of a fraudulent marriage. He used Daadi, by taking advantage of the fact that she loved him. Finally, he used Meera. Meera was his saving grace when he once again became a pariah. He used her and manipulated her into helping him. Not only that, Dev is an opportunist. Dev will take advantage of any opportunity to achieve whatever he can get out of it, with no regard for principles or consequences. Being intimate with Geet was an opportunity that presented itself to Dev, an opportunity from which he simply couldn't walk away.  Intimacy was not part of the plan, but it didn't matter to Dev. Naintara might have been the mastermind behind the plan, but she didn't ask him to be intimate with Geet. He is selfish and it is intrinsically true to his character. Dev Khurana was intricately sketched to be the perfect villain.

Villain vs. Saint

Dev as a villain makes sense. His foundation was all perfectly laid out to be the villain; the ultimate villain who will give Maan a run for his money, a true evil genius. A story is that much more engaging when the hero and the villain are siblings, much like Cain and Abel. The Good vs. Evil, Light vs. Dark. It is the conflicts and variations among characters that captivate the audience, not homogeneity. Dev as the Devil had and still has so much potential. However, potential is nothing without execution. The execution of the villain Dev fell flat. On the flip side, Dev as a saint makes no sense.  He has no foundation to make a convincing positive character. It's an absurdity to even remotely consider Dev in such light. He was the man who plotted and exploited a young girl's innocence for his advantage, and that makes him irredeemable. Forcefully trying to make Dev a positive character has made him a limbo character. He is neither good nor evil. Dev today is a coward who can't stand up to his wife or own up to his mistakes as his own doing. Dev Khurana, the suave, sophisticated and the original bad guy of GHSP, is lost in a world of creative confusion, lack of vision and lack of dedication to a character that is very much vital to the story. Dev Khurana is in oblivion. Does the same fate await to his actions? Are his actions also, forgiven and forgotten?

Other villains may come and go, but Dev Khurana will always be the villain of GHSP. Dev is the one who made Geet everyone's Parayi; it is her story, for that reason he is the ultimate villain. Dev's character might have lost its sophistication, but his actions must not be forgotten. Every story has a villain for a reason; the villain is the driving force behind the story. The story continues till the hero defeats the villain, may it be a dragon or a highly intelligent psychopath with a sadistic sense of humor. Whoever it may be, the villain always gets the short end of the stick. Good must defeat the evil. Dev Khurana must endure the same fate, he must be defeated. No matter which way one tries to spin it, basic nature of people does not change, Dev Khurana is a chameleon; his repentant act is simply another shade.

The continuation of Dev Khurana: Rebirth of the Villian/Defeat at the hands of the hero

1)    Dev Khurana the villain must be reborn. He needs to be out of this current state of confusion and stake his claim as the villain of GHSP.

2)    Dev must fight back; he is not a loser who accepts defeat just like that. He is not selfless and no one is buying what he is selling. The Maan has to work hard to defeat Dev. What's so heroic about defeating a villain who already surrendered? Where was the battle between the brothers? We need to see that.

3)    We need to see a proper trial, not a rushed version of it. Bring back the old cast as witnesses. Give the Dev track a proper closing.

4)    Dev must receive apt punishment. He needs to be tried for fraud, rape, polygamy and any other offenses.

5)    Dev and NT join forces to fight Maan and Geet in this trial. It was always the four of them and it should remain that way. Outsiders should not be brought into this battle because it's not theirs to fight. Others may choose sides, but it's not their battle .

Replacing actor 8 months into a serial can be a daunting task, but certainly not impossible. Here are some options to explore until the replacement is found.

1)    Dev successfully jumps bail and is in hiding MINUS Meera. He is a fugitive; he doesn't need a consolation prize in Meera. And if he "loves" Meera he wouldn't jeopardize her safety. But the police keep looking for his whereabouts and Maan hires a PI.

2)    Dev quits his repentant acts and realizes that he doesn't want to go down alone, and kidnaps NT and runs away with her (She is his consolation prize). But the police keep looking for their whereabouts and Maan hires a PI.

3)    Dev jumps bail, and police catches him and puts him in jail.

4)    Put Dev back in jail for violating a restraining order taken by Naintara.

5)    Dev hires a top notch defense attorney and he is shown working on the case while speaking to Dev over the phone.

6)    Dev moves away from Meera, but he keeps tabs with her over the phone.

7)    Arjun beats the living day lights out of him and it puts Dev in a coma.

Dev Khurana, the story needs you, can't wait for you to be reborn.

**************************************************************************************************************

During my extensive study of Dev Khurana, it came to my understanding that he suffers from a mild/moderate case of Anti-social Personality Disorder. Sociopathy is severe form of this disorder. In other words, Dev Khurana is a sociopath in the making.

Characteristics of people with antisocial personality disorder may include:

  • Persistent lying or stealing
  • Apparent lack of remorse or empathy for others
  • Poor behavioral controls- expressions of irritability, annoyance, impatience, threats, aggression, and verbal abuse; inadequate control of anger and temper
  • Promiscuity
  • Tendency to violate the boundaries and rights of others
  • Aggressive, often violent behavior; prone to getting involved in fights
  • Inability to tolerate boredom
  • Poor or abusive relationships
  • Irresponsible work behavior
  • Disregard for safety

Other common characteristics of those with Antisocial Personality Disorder include superficial charm, shallowed emotions, a distorted sense of self, a constant search for new sensations a tendency to physically or verbally abuse peers or relatives, and manipulation of others without remorse or empathy for the victim. Egocentrism, megalomania, lack of responsibility, extroversion, excessive hedonism, high impulsivity, and the desire to experience sensations of control and power can also be present. A Sociopath in the making
