No Hope- Part 3
Alka placed the laptop on the bedside table, and pulled the blanket over her, snuggling as deep into it as possible. The lamp stayed on, turning it off would increase the risk of having nightmares. She closed her eyes, hoping that when she opened them, it won't be in the middle of the night, her face wouldn't be covered in sweat, her breath wouldn't hitch, she shouldn't be panting; harsh, ragged breaths. Each and every night following the accident, Alka would have dreams -- there was no avoiding that-- but whether they were scary, sweet, tearful, that depended on the day, the circumstances, and of course her luck. Mostly they were memories: of Alka as a child, with her parents, Chander, Abhishek; the hostel; her life in New York, university, Ralph, and her other friends; but usually of her stay in India, Chander, Indu, Ramesh, the whole lot. She turned over to her side, clutching the pillow tightly...
The day before the accident
His eyes were half-closed, it took every ounce of his effort to stay awake; he had petitions to sign, protests to run, and above all that, he had to be Abhishek's 'friend'. Alka had told him many times to forget whatever Ralph said to him, but it was hard. All thoughts flew out of his mind, like pigeons whose cages had just been opened, when Alka stepped out of the bathroom. Wet hair clinging to her shoulders, a white towel was wrapped around her.
"You? Here? Now?" She blushed, embarrassed at being caught in such a situation.
"Yes, I am here right now"
"Why? I mean..."
"I know, and chill Alka" He placed his hand on her shoulder, and to her, the heat was so enormous that she thought all of the water on that spot he had touched, should have evaporated.
"I...How are you? How is everything going on? You are here so early? Anything special?" The questions sputtered out of her mouth, like when someone tried to kick-start an old bike, and after a few kicks, it ran like a babe. Clearly, she was still embarrassed.
"Alka, don't be embarrassed. And go put your clothes on, then we'll talk." They didn't have to be cautious, like other times, since there was no one at the house except them, and it was going to be like that for two more days.
She took her clothes from the cupboard and tiptoed into the bathroom. "Why are you walking like that?" he asked
"I don't know..." She closed the door.
When she came back outside, she was wearing a half-sleeved pink shirt with jeans, biting her bottom lip, refusing to look at him in the eye. "That's it! I can't take anymore!"
"Can't take anymore what?"
He smirked devilishly, sauntering closer to her, as she backed away, until she banged into the wall.
"Where will you go, daaarling"
"Da-da-darling?" she stammered.
"You don't like darling?" He tapped his chin with his index finger, being mock-serious, "What about Honey? Or maybe Jaanu?"
"Ah...Anything you like" She lowered her lashes, blinking furiously. He cupped her face with his hands, tilted her face upwards, so that he could look at her face. Curls dancing when she moved, blush creeping onto her cheeks, big, round eyes, full, lucious lips, and the thing that made him know that she was only his; her eyes, the way she looked at him, the whole world fading away. He leaned closer, his hands slid under her shirt, resting on her cold stomach. She moved her face closer to his, unable to bear his teasing, and kissed him. Her hands grabbed his hair, holding on so that she wouldn't lose herself in the pool of his passion. Urgency increased; the light kisses turned more harsh, but a good kind of harsh....
Grasping the frame closer to herself, Nandini leaned back in the comfort of her fiance's arms. "You are back!" She whispered, "I missed you"
"I missed you too...." Abhishek replied.
"There's been so much going on..."
"I know, but I am back, forget everything else"
"Well...the bad everythings" he chuckled, but it wasn't a full laugh.
"No more trips?"
"No more" he touched his forehead with hers, gently, smiling. She knew he was lying, only to protect her from the truth. She would just play along with it, as she had been doing for the past six months. It hurts when every one else assumes your husband is a murderer.

No Hope-Part 4
Sorry for the delay..

Nandini pressed her finger on the start button and watched the glass dish revolve in the microwave oven, the ducks painted on it going round and round, round and round.

"Darling, where is my towel?" Abhishek lumbered into the kitchen and drummed his fingers on the table.

"I will bring it, hold on!" She looked at him; his built, well-shaped body, his toned biceps, the stubble on his face, the turning corners of his lips into a wearied smile.

She raced up the stairs to their room. Their room. She felt the words on her tongue. Theirs, ours, together. She sighed and whispered, "Oh how alone I felt without you, Abhishek"

"NANDINI!" He yelled, harshly. She startled, "Ruko!" she yelled back. Nandini couldn't help but wonder at the tone of his voice, he had never spoken to her like this before. Each step down each stair felt like it had left a heavy mark. She rubbed her palm on the towel, sensing his smell, his aura, still lingering on it, even though she had washed it.

"Here, take it" She placed it on one shoulder, and tried to massage the other one, but he moved away.

"Thanks", he said gruffly.

"Anything wrong?"

How was Abhishek meant to explain those calls? How could he explain his misery to her?

Alka woke up feeling relaxed. She smiled to herself at the memory of the previous night's dream "I wish you would wake up. I wish we could create more of such memories" she murmured.

"Di! Someone is at the door" Indu appeared just outside the door of her bedroom, "You come, I think it is something important, with the way they are knocking" she half-chuckled, still having her arms wrapped around her stomach.

"Indu, you rest. I will see. And have you taken your meds?" Alka caught the shadow that passed over Indu's face as quickly as it had come, "Aha! You didn't, did you?"

"Didi! I don't like it, it is so bitter!"

"Have it immediately!" she ordered, "What will I say to Ramesh?"

Indu stuck her tongue out, but got noticed by Alka, and looked down sheepishly, "Jee didi". She padded away to her room.

Alka shook her head, "Pregnancy has emptied this girl's brain"

She sat on the sofa with a solemn expression, on which unsettled Alka.

"What is wrong, Dr. Julie?" Alka asked, afraid to hear the answer. Dr. Julie Williams, a specialist doctor from England, was currently the doctor who took care of Chander. She had become a close friend of Alka, but that didn't make it any easier for her to face the bad news she sometime brought with her from London.

"I think I can do something'"

"Yes. Alka, maybe we can get Chander back" Dr. Julie's words were rolled with her British accent.

Alka supressed a shriek, but couldn't stop a whimper from escaping from her lips. She sank down to her knees, letting the tears glide down her cheeks, creating black streaks of mascara on them.

A very well described FF....emotions and expressions are packed in it. It is like seeing those scenes while reading....I loved reading this! No doubt, you are a great writer!

Chandar in a comaOuch..... Suvi, believe me...the way you have described everything had such an affect...it was like seeing the particular scene while reading it. Shall I call you Expresso?Wink

Alka trying to full-fill Chandar's dream...and how strong you have portrayed her character, hats off to you!Clap I love how you have build up the characters in sequence with that of the show!

Finally, there is a ray of hope given by doctor....No hope is turning to be hopefulTongue

Abhini scene was cute, and is Abhishek suffering from a false accusation? I know it's too early to ask this question, but just my curiosityLOL

As you have asked for suggestions, these are some I would love to read in the upcoming parts.
- How Alka and doctor working together to bring back Chandar...also in between include some silly, yet cute moments.
-Abhini's journey too....what made Abhishek to be accused as a murder (I know you will write about this sooner or later)

All the best and do pm me in case I may forget to read and comment.
