So what you're asking is why Shivji unleashed Veerbhadra, right?

Well, Daksha was a paapi and his ego was crossing the boundaries and in order to slay him and subsequently replace his head with a goat's in order to remove his pride, Shivji had to unleash Veerbhadra. Indeed, he was frightening, but Daksha merely received the fruits of his karma.

That's what you were asking, right? Or did I totally mess it up? LOL LOL

got this one...Embarrassed

This legend is associated with the destruction of Daksha's sacrifice and the origin of the Shakti Peethas of India. This is one of the eight legends portraying Shiva as the destroyer of evil.

Sati, the consort of Shiva was the daughter of Daksha Prajaapati a descendant of Bhrama.. Sati had married Shiva against the wishes of her father. The vain Daksha performed a great yagna (with the sole aim of insulting Shiva), to which he invited all of the gods and goddesses except his son in law Shiva. Against Shiva's wishes, Sati attended this sacrifice and was insulted by her father. Unable to bear this insult, Sati immolated herself.

Enraged at the insult and the injury, Shiva through Veerabhadra, destroyed Daksha's sacrifice, cut off Daksha's head and replaced it with that of a goat, as he restored him to life. Still crazed with grief, he picked up the remains of Sati's body, and danced the dance of destruction throughout the Universe. The other gods intervened to stop this dance, and the disk of Vishnu cut through the corpse of Sati, whose various parts of the body fell at several spots all through the Indian subcontinent and formed the sites of what are known as Shakti Peethas today.

An image of Dakshaaari Murthy, the slayer of Daksha is enshrined at Tiruppariyalur near Thanjavur. The Veeratteswarar temple here is one of the 8 Veerata stalas celebrating Shiva as the destroyer of evil forces.

Nah you didn't messs up hun, you couldn't have since there was no specific question LOL Just wanted to be able to take some of the nice dialogues from those scenes and clear up the mistaken bad image Shivji gets sometimes as getting angry all the time just cuz that's how he is - as the epi and you just said, Daksh had big time pride issues and whatever Shivji did was for his own good - not only did he mistakenly think his sacrifices made him great, he also misidentified Shiv Shankar and Shri Hari as separate entities - he thought he could be a devotee of one and insult the other, though both are the same - as Tulsidasji says in Ram Charit Manas, "Shiv drohi mam bhagat kahaava, so nar sapnehu mohi na paava! Shankar vimukh bhagati chahe mori, so naraki mudh mati thodi." That's the point Daksh needed to get in his head - that you can't say "This is my God, and he's greater than yours," and blah blah blah. Shivji wasn't so small-minded that he lashed out at not getting an invite to a party or he cared that this guy was insulting him. He just wanted him to become a more perfect devotee by not having that false sense of discrimination and disrespect that would keep him from having health ties with other devotees.

Well... now that that's out of my system LOL Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything else about Om Namah Shivay in terms of fav songs, scenes, characters, etc. unless it's a broad topic that others who haven't seen the show might wanna get in on too. Enjoy!!!

Yashodhan Rana, who played lord shiv was there in CID in an episode. He was so young, and may be that was his time of start.
