Maruti Suzuki The 10th Indian Television Academy Awards
The Indian Television Academy made TV feel taller on the 31st
November,'10 when the 10th ITA Awards was held at Bhavan's Cultural
Ground in Andheri. The Academy celebrated the 10th year of its crowing
glory, 'The ITA Awards' with rare razzle-dazzle. The Awards, today, are
regarded the most coveted stamp of merit in the medium as well as an
annul festival of joy for the entire TV-fraternity in which its who's
who participates along with other glitterati from the world of Films,
Corporate and Public-life.
This year, the entries from the Channels and Production-houses touched a
historic upwards of two and a half thousand. That proved, if ever one
was needed, the total trust of the industry in the Awards. Not only
this, the TV-watchers at large also hold the Awards in implicit trust as
was evident by the nearly 5,50,000 votes polled in the polling for the
'Popular' segment.
The teeming thousands that gathered at the evening were witness to a
splendorous event in which the TV's Bests of the year were conferred The
ITA Awards. The set was humongous and dazzling with 'Bling' as its
theme. It had blinding impact on the audience, while one distinguished
TV pro after another walked up to stage to receive his/her trophy at the
hands of celebrities from all walks of life.
The ITA Awards are also known for its 'Special Honours' every year,
besides those concerning TV. It earmarks signal achievements from the
general stream of the country and accords recognition to them. In that
vein, the Academy decided to honour a few of those who have done the
country proud this year in the Commonwealth Games. Hence, Gold-winners
like Manoj Kumar (Boxing), Omkar Singh, Harpreet, Vijay Kumar, Gurpreet
Singh, Anisa Sayeed, Gagan Narang (Shooting), Jwala Gutta & Ashwin
Ponappa (Badminton) were decorated with The ITA honours. Indeed, it was
such a sublime moment to watch those glorious achievers striding to the
stage for receiving their trophies, to a thunderous applause from the
audience!
Says Shashi Ranjan, Convenor, The ITA 'The Academy is proud of this
moment, today! The sterling achievements of these shorts persons have
brought glory to the Nation and they deserve to be honoured all across.
By honouring them, The ITA has added another feather to its own cap and
given a noteworthy account of the spectrum of The ITA Awards!'
The evening was also punctuated by scintillating performances by a host
of big time TV stars like Sushant Singh, Angad Hasija, Ankita Lokhande,
Hina Khan, Ragini Khanna, Pooja Gaur,
Pratyusha Bannerjee, Disha Vakani
and other such. There was also a stunning act by the Dance India Dance
champ, Dharmesh with stars like Sanjeeda and Akshat. Yet another
rollicking act was with TV's little darlings Sparsh, Ayush and
Vaishnavi.
And the fraternity present had the time of their life watching those
thudding performances and the entire ambience got turned into a Mela of
unbounded fun and frolic.
Says Anu Ranjan, President, The ITA 'That's special only to The ITA
Awards! The ceremony binds the TV fraternity as one whole. Here, more
than winning, it's the participation that is important. Today, The ITA
and its Awards have become synonymous with the industry and it humbles
us no end. All we can say is that we will continue to strive for holding
the flag of Indian Television aloft for all time to come!'
In sum, The ITA authenticated its mettle for the 10th time in succession
for creating a unique community event for the world of Television. It
was the biggest night of the Small Screen infused with heaps and loads
of pomp and panache!
