Since the flavor of the season is classical, thought of introducing a topic related to classical music. As for Ravi Shankar, nothing new to say about him as most of us already know much about him. You can check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravi_Shankar for facts about him.

I have tried to post those  videos only which hopefully will be of interest to even non-classical persons. The videos also gives us a glimpse of what actually Indian classical music is all about. In conclusion, if properly represented Indian classical music can be an extremely enriching and rewarding experience for the listener.

Excellent thread diamond ji, Pundit Ravi Shankar is one of the big names in Indian classical music who is known throughtout the world. Americans go crazy in his musical concerts. Thanks for appreciating this great artist.Smile

You know I would not say that because when he does not look or sound 75, 80 or 85 + while playing....I have been to his concert since 1986 and everytime I go he is better and better...Would give anything to see him...Same for most legends...
