I'm so sorry I made you guys wait again for such a long period of time.  I was extremely busy this weekend and I thought the time I had set aside to write would be enough but some things came up and interrupted my writing time.

Anyways thanks again to all my readers out there for the support you have given me 😃

Mission 22: Truth, Lies, and Deception

Heer sat in the interrogation room just waiting and wondering what was going to happen next.  After the surprise arrest at the teahouse she along with Prem and Ethan had been carted away in separate vehicles.  She didn't see Sanjana but there was so much commotion she assumed she had probably been arrested and was being transported in a separate car as well.  Heer sighed and gently lifted the styrofoam cup sitting on the table to take a drink of water.  They had been nice enough to give her that amenity and to switch her handcuffs around to the front.  The metal rattled against the surface of the table as she placed the cup down.  Her eyes shifted towards the door as she heard voices on the other side and watched with anticipation to who would be interrogating her.  To her astonishment two guards were escorting Prem into the room.  She could tell by the looks on the guards' faces and Prem's disheveled attire that he had been letting his mouth run again.

The guards tossed Prem into his chair and then turned to leave.  "Hey, what about these?" he asked as he lifted his hands that were still cuffed behind him.  They made no response and simply left the room.  "I'll be talking to your supervisor about this!"

"Prem..." Heer hissed as the door closed shut.

"What?  They don't have any etiquette," he replied turning around.

"Stop making trouble...you're going to make it worse for yourself," Heer warned.

Prem grumbled and then saw the cup sitting on the table.  "They gave you something to drink?"

"It's water."  She then looked at him, "You want some?"

"If you don't mind," Prem replied.  Heer took the cup from the table and gently tilted it towards his mouth allowing him to take a few sips.  "Thanks."  Heer didn't say anything and placed the cup back down.  "So, how long do you think they'll just let us sit here and watch us through the double-sided glass?" Prem inquired as his eyes shifted towards the large mirror hanging on the wall.

"I don't know," Heer answered.  Her eyes flexed as Prem made his way to the mirror.  "What are you doing?"

"Hey, how long are you going to be staring at us?" Prem asked.

"Prem, sit back down," she hissed.

"And have you guys forgotten the interrogation rules?  You don't put the two suspects in the same room together," Prem said starring into the mirror.  "By the way...we need a refill of water.  And it would be nice to get another cup."

Heer rolled her eyes in frustration that Prem was doing something so idiotic.  She was beginning to wonder if he always acted like this whenever he got caught.  Being an annoying smart aleck was one way to get on the nerves of your opponent.  It was one of those things that could work to your advantage or seriously get you into trouble.

Rishabh sighed as he looked from his side of the double sided mirror.  "He's one of ours and we actually let him go out into the field?"

"Well, based on his reports Agent Deshmukh has an impeccable field record," replied a lean medium build male.

"That may be so Agent Bourne but regardless he's acting like an immature 14 year old," Rishabh responded.  He then exhaled deeply, "Let's get this over with."  The young agent nodded his head and opened the door allowing his senior officer out the door first.

Meanwhile back in the interrogation room Prem eventually sat back down in his chair and groaned at the way his arms felt.  "Maybe if you weren't running around doing all these things your arms wouldn't hurt."  Prem turned his head and stared at his girlfriend amazed that she was saying this to him.  "I thought the last time you did this was because you were trying to confuse them but now...in front of our own people...this isn't a game you can play with them."

Prem's eyes darkened as his forehead creased, "I'm not going to let them take you."  He then lowered his voice and added.  "I don't understand what they are doing.  You and I shouldn't even be in the same room together."

Just as he finished saying those words they both turned their attention to the door as it opened.  Ethan was being escorted in by Rishabh and Agent Bourne.  He was made to sit in the chair across from them.  His hands were still behind his back in handcuffs.  Rishabh nodded his head signaling Agent Bourne to remove the handcuffs from Ethan.

"Thanks, those things were getting very uncomfortable," Ethan replied as he rubbed his wrists.

Prem was expecting the same courtesy and looked at Agent Bourne who simply stepped back and stood behind Ethan's chair.  His eyebrows flexed confused by what was going on.  His eyes automatically shifted towards Rishabh for some explanation.  What came next sent his blood to a boil.

"Thank you Agent Rhine.  The arrangements have been made...the burn notice has been lifted," Rishabh said looking at Ethan.  "You're free to leave."

Prem and Heer stared at Ethan in a shock trying to comprehend what had happened.  "You turned us in?" Prem angrily questioned when he had finally digested the words Rishabh had said.  "You were burned from The Agency and you didn't tell me?  You used us to get back into The Agency?  I trusted you and you did this to us?"

"Try to understand Prem...you're an agent too...you know what it's like.  It's something you just get use to doing...it's my life..." Ethan replied.

"So you just traded us in while the real criminal is still out there running around!" Prem yelled.  "This is insane has everyone here gone crazy?!"  Prem turned his attention to Rishabh and gave him a glaring stare.  "Are you happy now?  So what are you charging us with?  Conspiracy?  Murder?  Obstruction of justice?"

Rishabh narrowed his eyes and curtly replied, "Agent Deshmukh don't sit there and lecture me on my duties.  I know far more than you think."

"What evidence do you have?"

"Plenty to know what I'm doing," Rishabh said in a commanding voice.

"You're going to take the word of Jack Dupont?" Heer inquired.  "He's the one that turned on us and you're going to go with his evidence?"

"That is for me to decide not you," Rishabh replied.  He then looked at Ethan.  "Agent Rhine, you may leave."  Ethan nodded his head and casted a worried glance towards Prem and Heer's direction before getting up to leave the room.

Prem was extremely upset that a friend he had trusted could betray him like this.  He quickly stood up and barreled himself towards Ethan trying to knock him down.  There was a fury of commotion and words as Agent Bourne and Rishabh held Prem back.  Ethan held the side of the doorway trying to balance himself from the force of Prem's push.  Ethan looked at his friend and saw the anger in his eyes knowing it was justified.  He lowered his head unable to meet his gaze and left the interrogation room.

"Okay that's it," Rishabh said as two other CIA agents walked into the room.  "Agent Deshmukh needs to cool down.  Take him to another room."  The agents followed his orders and began to haul Prem away.

Heer stood there with her eyes focused on the doorway feeling helpless as the agents dragged Prem away.  She felt her stomach churn in anxiety at what was going to happen to him.  "Agent Maan?"  Heer turned her attention towards Rishabh who was holding a chair motioning for to sit back down.  She obediently sat down and started to mentally prepare herself for a long interrogation despite her worries over Prem.  She masked her face making sure they didn't get any hint that she had any sort of intimate relationship with him and just stared seriously at Rishabh and Agent Bourne.

*****************************************************************

Preet sat with his head titled back against the wall in a sleepy daze.  He sat forward and rubbed the back of his neck and checked his watch noting the hour.  He had been sitting in the hallway in the most uncomfortable plastic chair for over four hours.  He didn't know how much longer he could just sit there and wait.  Preet sighed and reached for the cup sitting in the chair next to him.  He grimaced at the taste of cold coffee in his mouth but swallowed the liquid anyway.

His eyes concentrated at the office door in the far corner of the hallway wondering how Jaywant and Rishabh's conversation was going.  It had only been a few minutes since Rishabh had returned from the interrogation section of the building and motioned for Jaywant to step into the office to speak privately.  While they had been waiting Jaywant had been busy making calls trying to get a hold of Balraaj, the Director of the National Clandestine Service to explain the dire situation.  Unfortunately, he was unable to make any contact.  Things were looking grim on the legal front.

Preet's body tightened as he saw the office door open.  Jaywant had a serious look on his face but he was extremely calm.  He signaled with his eyes for Preet to follow him.  Preet knew things were about to get dicey as plan A had failed.  Now it was onto plan B; the illegal route.

*****************************************************************

Heer tossed and turn on the little cot in the private jail cell she was being held in.  She laid on her back and started up at the gray ceiling wondering what was going to happen next.  After Prem had been taken away to another interrogation room, she had been grilled by Rishabh.  He wanted to hear her side of the story with Jack Dupont but she felt like no matter what she told him he had already made up his mind and was basically ignoring her words.  He was only asking the questions he asked because he was following protocol.  It was the most aggravating feeling in the world.

She sighed at her restless sleep and wondered if it was still night or early morning.  Her stomach gurgled indicating her body was finally willing to take in some food.  She had barely eaten anything when she was served dinner.  Her mind was too worked up and worried over everything that was going on that she didn't have any appetite.  Heer tenderly placed her hand on her stomach hoping to pacify the hunger and turned to her side.  She closed her eyes and imagined that Prem was there by her side holding her as she slept.  He nuzzled her cheek and softly whispered that he loved her and everything was going to be all right.  Heer clutched the rough blanket covering her and murmured, "I don't know what to do.  I don't want to lose you."

Suddenly the lights of the cell turned on and the sound of heavy shoes hitting the cement floor echoed down the hallway.  Heer wiped away the few tears that had formed at the edge of her eyes and sat up preparing to meet whoever it was that was coming her way.  It was one of the guards holding a tray in his hand.  "Breakfast," he announced.  "You have thirty minutes before transfer."  He opened a latch with his keys and placed the tray inside a box before locking the box up.  Heer nodded that she had understood and got up to fetch her food from the other side of the box.  She pulled the tray out and sat back down on her cot with her back resting against the side wall and placed the warm tray on her thighs.  Breakfast was rice, a fried egg, sausage, and several pieces of fruit.  It didn't take Heer very long to devour her food and placed the tray back into the food box for the guard to pick up.  She sat on her cot and waited for the transfer guards to come.

It wasn't long before she heard the sounds of several pairs of hard boots walking her way.  There were two guards.  They motioned for her get into position.  Heer walked to the center of the room with her hands to her side.  One of the guards cuffed her hands while the other one acted as a lookout.  She was then lead out of the jail cell and walked to the transfer station where a van was waiting for her.  When she entered the van her eyes lit at seeing Prem already sitting there with two guards.  He had his handcuffs in front of him and he was also wearing legcuffs.  The guards sat Heer on the other side of the van and then left closing the doors behind them.

The van rumbled to a start and began to make its journey to a small airfield where Prem and Heer would be transferred to a CIA plane to be flown back to Washington D.C.  Prem discreetly shifted his eyes towards Heer asking her if she was all right.  She blinked once lowering her head slightly in reply letting him know she was okay.  Heer then did the same questioning him and his condition.  Prem nodded trying to ease her worries.  He wanted to sit next to her but knew permission would never be granted.  It was too dangerous for the guards to allow that to happen, after all they were two very highly trained CIA agents.  It wouldn't take them long to find a way to disarm the guards and get out of their handcuffs.  Prem just sighed and began shifting his eyes around the van taking note of how the back of the van was designed.

Prem's senses filled with adrenaline when the van unexpectedly started to swerve and speed up.  The guards up front were shouting orders and communicating over the radio that there was a car to the side of them driving erratically and they suspected the driver was drunk.  The van suddenly skidded to the side as an impact was felt from the back side and the next thing Prem knew everything was going sideways as smoke started to surround everyone inside the van.  "Heer!" Prem yelled.  "Are you okay?  Heer?"

Muffled sounds and hazy visions were all Heer could hear and see.  She lifted her head to see that she had collided with one of the guards.  He was knocked unconscious from the hit the van received.  The other guard was awake and trying to make sure Prem and Heer didn't escape in the confusion that was going on inside the van.  Heer managed to crawl forward and throw herself onto the guard stopping him from getting up.  A few seconds later Prem was by her side trying to knock the guard out so they could get the key and get out of the van.  They knew they didn't have much time as the van had been accompanied by two unmarked law enforcement vehicles filled with CIA agents.

Prem managed to locate the keys to the handcuffs and uncuffed Heer's hands first.  They both turned their heads in alarm when the back of the van door opened.  "Prem?  Heer?"

"Sanjana?!" they shouted.

"Come on we don't have much time.  We got to go!" Sanjana ordered.

Prem and Heer quickly made their way out of the van and into the early morning light where another vehicle was waiting for them.  Without any questions they quickly hopped into a silver SUV.  "Preet?" Prem uttered in surprise as he finally noticed who was driving the vehicle.  "What are you doing?"

"Um, driving...a bit busy right now as we have two black SUV vehicles chasing us," Preet replied.

"Prem your feet," Heer ordered as she finished opening his handcuffs.

"Oh right...sorry," Prem answered.

"Preet, take a left at this corner...this corner right here!" Sanjana shouted.

Sanjana, Prem, and Heer fell to the left as the SUV swerved and made a sharp turn.  They were all squished up against each other in an uncomfortable fashion.  "Um, sorry," Prem replied as he tried grabbing a hold of the seat to pull him upright so he wasn't laying on top of Sanjana.  He was finding it difficult to move since Heer was laying on top of him.  "Preet!  Can you watch where you are driving?"

"What part of we are being chased by two SUVs...that happen to be filled with CIA agents do you not understand?!" Preet shouted as he suddenly turned right.  The motion sent everyone in the back to shift to the right.

Heer groaned as she was thrown up against the door.  Prem had his head resting on her shoulder while Sanjana was on his back.  "Sorry Prem," she said as she tried to sit up straight and hook herself into a seatbelt.   "Don't forget we're suppose to head for that private airfield," Sanjana reminded.

"Yeah I got it!" Preet yelled.  "You think Iron Face will make it in time?"

"I don't know...we'll see.  He told us if he's not there that we are to continue on without him," Sanjana replied.

"Jaywant?  He thought of this plan?" Prem inquired about his uncle.

"He was the pretend drunk driver giving the van so many problems," Sanjana answered.  "We fiddled with the street lights so we could separate the vehicles and then made sure there was a semi truck that blocked the back SUV.  That gave us just enough time to knock the van and rescue you guys."  She saw the concerned look in his eyes and she gently added.  "He's our superior officer...I'm sure he knows what he is doing."  Prem nodded taking in her words knowing she was right.

*****************************************************************

It wasn't long before Preet made it to the private airstrip.  The group quickly rushed out of the car and ran to the small plane waiting for them.  The pilot was waiting by the loading stairs and hurried them on before he climbed in closing the hatch and then entered the cockpit.  Everyone sat down in an empty seat and buckled up as the plane turned on and prepared to make its run down the runway and lift off.

As the plane ran to the end of the strip lifting off into the air folding in its wheels ascending into the sky, two black SUVs came barreling into the air field.  They halted where the silver SUV was parked knowing it was useless to do anything else.  Rishabh stepped out of one of the black SUVs and stared up at the sky shaking his head in disbelief.  He sighed heavily as the other agents in the vehicle got out to investigate the air field trying to figure out all they could about the plan that had just taken off.

Meanwhile up in the sky, the small craft had climbed to a comfortable height and was cruising its way to Singapore.  The gang readjusted their seating and spread out on the plane.  Preet sat in the front seat on the left while Sanjana sat behind in the seat on the right.  Preet gently smirked when he noticed Prem following Heer to the back of the plane to sit.  He had a feeling something must have blossomed between the two while they had been working on the assignment.  Preet turned around and sighed as his mind wondered to Meher hoping she was doing fine back home.  He knew the message he had left her was probably making her worry, but there was little he could do until his mission concluded.

Prem grabbed a blanket from one of the overhead compartments and then sat down in the window seat.  Heer pulled the armrest up so there wasn't a divider between them and then leaned her seat back.  Prem did the same and then spread the blanket over them both.  "Did you sleep any last night?" Prem whispered.

"Not really...you?" Heer softly replied back.  He shook his head and tenderly caressed her cheek as he tucked her hair back behind her ear.  Heer smiled and snuggled onto his chest not really caring what type of affection she was openly displaying in public.  "How long was your interrogation?"

"Probably two hours?  Not sure.  You?" Prem asked.

"Probably the same...no matter what I said it seemed like Rishabh had already made up his mind on the answer before I even answered him," Heer sighed.

"I know what you mean," Prem replied.  "I'm sorry...I made you worry," placing a kiss on her forehead, "...going off the handle like that with Ethan...I couldn't believe it..."

"Neither could I...to think he was doing things behind our backs like that.  You had ever right to be angry," Heer said.  "You trusted him.   He turned us in so he could get off the burn list of his own agency...I guess people do a lot of things when they get desperate."

"If only he told me...we could have figured something out for him...but what he did...and he knew that the CIA wouldn't give us a fair stand in all of this is what pisses me off the most," Prem replied.

Heer could detect the anger in his voice and gently placed her finger on his lips.  "Sshhh, let's not talk about this anymore."  Prem gazed into Heer's hazel eyes and obediently nodded his head.  He then inched downward to capture her lips.  Heer cupped Prem's cheek as they shared several sweet kisses; relishing in the feeling of being together after spending much of yesterday apart in worry.  Heer breathed deeply as she shifted her head down to curl back onto his chest.  Prem rubbed his nose up along the bridge of her nose to her forehead and tenderly puckered his lips to give her a soft kiss on her head before she rested her head comfortably on his chest.  "I love you," Heer whispered as she placed her left hand by her head and closed her eyes to sleep.

Prem grinned and held her closely to him, "Love you too."  His fingers curved around her lower waist and slowly but carefully moved her shirt upward so he could touch her skin.  Heer hummed into his chest at the feeling and slipped her hand back down underneath the blanket to glide her hand underneath Prem's shirt.  He smirked at the feeling of her soft skin touching the side of his body and he gave a pleasing sigh.  His eyelids then fell into a restful slumber as he delicately rested his chin on Heer's head.

*****************************************************************

Preet yawned sleepily as he awoke from his nap.  The captain had announced that they would be landing shortly in Singapore.  He could hear the rest of his companions moving about in their seats preparing for the landing.  Thirty minutes later the plane safely landed in a small private airfield.  Sanjana paid the pilot the second half of the installment and then got into the passenger side of the car that had been arranged for them.  "So, where to?" Preet asked as she closed the door.

"Let's go get something to eat.  I don't know about you guys but I could do with a snack," Sanjana said.  "We can then see about finding a place to rest."

"Sounds good to me," Prem replied.

"I could go for something to eat," Heer agreed.

"Okay something to eat," Preet repeated and started the car and drove his way out of the airfield heading towards the city.

"Hey Sanjana...you don't happen to have the discs do you?" Prem inquired.

"Yes, I do.  Somehow I made my way towards the front of the teahouse during all that mayhem that was going on.  I saw Rishabh and them coming and hide in one of the alleyways.  Jaywant and Preet then spotted me and told me it was a trap.  They told me to leave and they would get back in touch with me when things died down.  I ran back to Ethan's apartment and grabbed the real discs before the police showed up and raided the place," Sanjana explained.  "I'm really sorry Prem.  I had some doubts about Ethan...one morning I was doing my normal rounds at the warehouse and I found him hiding in the back of the woods talking to someone on the phone.  I sort of caught him off guard and he told me he was talking to one of his contacts.   I had no reason to really doubt him...I had no evidence either.  But I just suddenly got this gut feeling you know.  I'm sorry I didn't tell you.  I should have told you and maybe we could have worked together to catch him in the act."

"It's okay Sanjana.  I trusted him and he was really good at covering his tracks," Prem replied.

"Sometimes your closest friend becomes your worst enemy.  It happens a lot in our line of work," Preet said.  "You never know who you can really trust.  It's pretty messed up."  Everyone gave a collective sigh in agreement.  "Um, so where I do I go from here?"

Sanjana pulled out the iphone and did a search for places to eat in Singapore.  "You still have Belova's phone?" Heer asked.

"Yeah, I figured after the botched meeting he would want to meet again and do the exchange.  We still have his goods," Sanjana replied.  "Bought a charger and I've been keeping this thing charged waiting for his call."

"He hasn't called?"

"He probably figured we got arrested at the teahouse," Sanjana explained.

"Kind of need directions," Preet urged interrupting the conversation.

"Oh sorry...um, how about some seafood?  Let's see ah...voice turn by turn directions," Sanjana said.  A few seconds later the iphone was giving directions to Preet letting him know how to drive towards a local food hawker center.

*****************************************************************
The gang walked about the local market taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of Singapore.  They stood in a corner trying to decide which street vendor to go to as there was a long line of vendors lined up in a row next to each other; each offering some sort of delicious delicacy from Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indonesian.  Heer turned to her right as she caught a whiff of something sweet and savory smelling.  There was a lady making chicken satay.  She was surprised to see the cuisine here as she usually associated it with Thai cooking. (Click here to listen to Taeyang - I'll Be There...really recommend it as it will enhance the action sequence.  If you don't want to the words have been provided for your reading pleasure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isUF0KVoKX0&feature=related)

Heer's body suddenly stiffened when she felt someone grab her from behind and cover her mouth so she wouldn't make any noise.  But she had kicked her legs up knocking over a stack of trays causing her friends to turn in time to see her being hauled away.  Preet, Prem, and Sanjana eyes' widen in alarm and they started to give chase.  Unfortunately, they got caught up in a huge fight as whoever was trying to take Heer away had come prepared.

I'll be, I...I'll be, I'll be there girl

I'll be, I...I'll be, I'll be there girl

I'll be, I...I'll be, I'll be there girl

As they group fought their way around the market picking up trays and other items to help defend themselves, they distinctively knew these men were not CIA.  Prem stared at the face of his opponent trying to read his moves before he made them.  He ducked a kick but was promptly punched in the side sending him falling onto some tables.  He rolled away in time before the buff man could take a chair and slam him with it.  Prem got back up into his fighting stance and prepared to take him down.  His eyes briefly surveyed the far end of the market and saw that Heer had managed to get away from whoever had captured her and was busy fighting with them.  Prem blocked a punch and then kneed his opponent sending the fellow flying backwards.  He ran towards the end of the market so he could help Heer.  Just as he made it someone hit Heer on the back of her head knocking her unconscious.

We've been through ups and downs no doubt

So many times we've had it out

Some foolish things we've realized

Think back and have to laugh it out

But that's what makes us so strong

Lo-lo-loving so strong

We roll deep in every way

De-de-de-deeper baby, babe

"Heer!" he yelled in panic.  He rushed over and did a flying kick knocking one of the men down who was fighting with her.  Someone came up from behind and put him into a strong hold.  Prem struggled helplessly as he saw a hefty built man pick Heer and place her over his shoulder as he ran with someone else down the market roadway.  Prem wasn't about to let them take her away.  He swung his leg forward and then dropped it back hitting the person's shin.  He was immediately dropped and Prem turned around and gave a strong roundhouse kick knocking the man out.

After having successfully taken care of their group of hoodlums Sanjana and Preet came running over to help.  "Go man, go!" Preet shouted as he dodged a kick.  "We'll take of the rest.  We'll be right behind you!"

"Thanks!" Prem shouted as he started to give chase.

I got your back believe in me

You got my back it's either way

When good or bad comes along

Just keep your faith in me

You are so beautiful, beautiful

Wo-wo-wonderful, wonderful

See my dream of you and me

Began the day we met

Prem saw the men get into a little service truck.  Heer was placed on the truck bed with several guards while two people hopped into the front.  He knew he wouldn't be able to run after them and quickly spotted a motorcycle on the side of the road.  "Sorry official police business!  I'm taking the motorcycle!" he shouted as he grabbed the owner and forced him to get off as he took over the bike.  "I'll bring it back in one piece...if not you can bill the department!" Prem said as he revved the engine and drove off.

Some people give up what they have

They run, run, run

That ain't 'goin be our situation

You're the one, one, one

Girl you're my queen in my heart and soul

I'm never letting you go

I'll be...there!

Prem followed the truck despite having things being thrown at him.  He was dodging fruit and vegetables and swerving the motorcycle around avoiding things that would cause him to crash.  The truck took a left turn down a small alley and he sped up trying to see if he could somehow hop onto the back of the truck bed but he was having trouble balancing the motorcycle properly.  The guards in the truck also had long bamboo poles and were whacking the back of truck bed trying to keep him from climbing on.

You know that...

I'll be there...

Spring, summer, fall,

Winter's cold...

I'll be there...be there

To protect you my baby

I'll be there...

All here for you is where I wanna be

I'll be there...

Eventually the trunk cleared the alleyway and they were back on the main road.  The truck was honking its horn telling people to move out of the way as it barreled down the roadway.  Prem decided to switch tactics and drove to the side of the truck seeing if he could maybe grab a hold of the round railings on the side and climb in that way.  But when he drove to the side the truck started to push him towards the sidewalk.  The guards in the back truck bed also poked their poles out towards him trying to ram him off his motorcycle.  Prem had no choice but to dropped back and follow behind the truck again.

Some haters try to get us down

But they ain't got a clue about

Our love and how that we belong-long

So-so right it can't be wrong

They call me dangerous-dangerous

They're killing ki-killing us

We don't need their shady ways...

The negativity, yeah!

Prem turned his head when he heard a gentle honk behind him and saw another small service truck drive up beside him.  Sanjana was driving the truck and was yelling out the window.  "I mapped the road with Google...there's going to be some construction up ahead!  The road may get narrower!"

"You go to the left and I'll go to the right," Prem said acknowledging that they had little time left.  Sanjana sped the truck up and moved to the left while Prem moved back into position behind the main vehicle they were chasing.  Prem smiled as Preet gave a thumbs up signal as he stood in the back of the truck bed ready to help.

Some people give up what they have

They run, run, run

That ain't 'goin be our situation

You're the one, one, one

Girl you're my queen in my heart and soul

I'm never letting you go

I'll be...there!

The guards immediately turned their attention towards Preet when they saw Sanjana drive up beside them.  Prem was able to effectively grab a bamboo pole and wrestle it away from the owner and then use it to defend himself and defeat some of the guards.  Prem swerved his motorcycle to the right when he saw a couple of the guards in the back fall out of the truck.

Prem could see that the construction that Sanjana had mentioned was coming down the roadway.  His eyes brightened as he saw a large dirt mound and knew he could use it as a ramp.  He grinned and revved the engine of the motorcycle and sped forward timing it perfectly so when he jumped through the air the truck was right next to him.  He let go of his bike and leaped towards his left catching the guards all off guard as they were preoccupied with Preet and landed in the truck bed.  Prem rolled once before hopping to his feet preparing himself to fight the rest of the guards.

You know that...

I'll be there...

Spring, summer, fall,

Winter's cold...

I'll be there...be there

To protect you my baby

I'll be there...

All here for you is where I wanna be

I'll be there...

Heer was tucked in the corner of the truck bed oblivious to what was going around her.  She stirred uneasily as she finally came to from the knock on her head.  She winced and held the back of her head in pain.  Her eyes slowly focused and her eyes perked at the sounds of fighting around her.  She saw Prem standing a couple feet in front of her fighting with the mysterious men who had showed up at the food market.  He was defending himself with a bamboo pole and had been successful in knocking a few of the smaller guards off the truck bed.  Now he was left with a really muscular hefty one and a medium build one.

Heer steadied herself as she stood up knowing Prem could use some help.  She spied half of a broken bamboo pole laying by her feet and picked it up.  She took a couple of deep breaths before she joined Prem's side trying to defeat the last of the goons.  Prem's eyes flexed when he sensed the presence of someone standing by his side.  "Heer?" he questioned.

"Let's get rid of these guys," she simply stated.

Prem nodded and narrowed his eyes at his opponents.  Both sides lunged towards each other and began fighting their way around the truck bed.  The truck swerved around corners and drove erratically making it difficult for both parties to stand up right and fight.  The truck soon arrived at the docks and without warning it suddenly slammed on the breaks sending Prem and the big muscular guy out of the back of the truck.  They rolled onto the asphalt groaning in pain at the impact.

Sanjana had to slam on her brakes and swerve to the left making sure she didn't run them over.  She quickly got out of the truck and followed Preet to assist in the fight.  The hefty fellow was gaining the upper hand in the battle as Prem was being mercilessly kicked and punched about.  Prem lifted his head and saw that Heer had been captured again as she was rather weak from her concussion.  They had her at gun point and were running towards the far end of the docks where a boat was waiting.

Prem looked back up in time to roll to his left before a kick fall upon him.  He quickly got up as Preet and Sanjana distracted the man and started making a mad dash towards the end of the docks.  He ran as fast as he could despite the pain in his knees.  He pushed his body as far as it could go hoping by some miracle he could catch up to them.  The anxiety of losing Heer like this seemed to fuel him as he no longer could feel anything but the touch of his feet hitting the wooden planks of the docks as he sped forward.  His mind traveled back to that time when he was 14 years old and he had seen those black town cars parked out front of Heer's house.  He had lost her then due to circumstances beyond his control.  But if he lost her now it would be his fault.  He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he allowed that to happen.  She was the one person who always stood by him, who knew his fears, his dreams, and his secrets, and understood him sometimes even better than himself.  She was his best friend and the love of his life.

My life without you is no life

No one can replace all your sweetness inside

I'm so down for you

And you know it's true

You're my love

With panic in his eyes Prem saw Heer being forced into the boat at the end of the dock.  The water vehicle was slowly starting to pull away as he was within reaching distance.  He leaped into the air extending his body as much as he could praying that he had jumped far enough to land inside the back of the boat.  His right foot came down on the edge of the boat and he flung forward rolling onto his shoulder as he landed onto the back deck of the motor boat.  He rolled once and tired getting up only to be met with several handguns thrust into his face.  Prem had no choice but to stay still and hold his hands up in surrender.

I'll be there...

Spring , summer, fall,

Winter's cold...

I'll be there...be there

To protect you my baby

I'll be there...

All here for you is where I wanna be

(I'll be there...)

Heer looked on with extreme concern but was powerless to do anything as her hands had been shackled and a gun was pointed at head.  She watched as the men surrounding Prem slowly backed away when two men, one in a white suit and one in light gray suit came onto the deck.  Heer's eyes widened in recognition at the two men; they were Dimitri Belova and Sergei Nemov.

"So we met again..." Sergei smirked as he two guards hauled Prem up holding his arms so he couldn't move.  "I think it's only polite that you introduce yourself this time agent..."  Prem groaned and bent low as he felt the weight of Sergei's punch hit his stomach.  "What was that?  I couldn't hear you..."  Prem opened his mouth to reply but sputtered in pain as Sergei's fist collided with his chest.

"D-D-Desh-mukh," Prem hoarsely replied.

"So you thought you could just run away like that did you, Agent Deshmukh, huh?" Sergei asked as he lifted Prem's head by grabbing his hair and pulling it back.  "Tried to double cross us did you?  The teahouse arrest was very interesting to see..."

Heer winched as she saw Sergei deliver a hard blow against Prem's face.  She couldn't stand watching him getting treated like this.  Prem moved his mouthed up and down trying to control the pain he was feeling.  "What do you want?" he uttered.

"What do we want?" Sergei asked in disbelief.  "You know exactly what we want.  I didn't hit you that hard to make you forget.  Or do I have to hit you harder to make you remember?"  Sergei punched him several times in various places on his body making him curl downwards into a ball.  The guards eventually dropped him to the floor where Sergei started to kick him.  Prem withered in pain as he brought his arms and legs together in a fetal position trying to protect himself.

Just as Sergei was about to deliver another blow a hand gripped him hard on the shoulder making him stop.  "I think that's enough memory jogging.  We need him alive to bring our things back." Dimitri shifted his head and the guards picked Prem back up to his feet.  Dimitri grabbed his face so he could look at him.  "We have something of yours and you have something of ours.  You bring us the discs and I'll let your lady friend there go.  A very fair trade I think.  I'm giving you one hour...met me at warehouse 57 at pier 11.  Only you...nobody else.  This is simply enough, no?" Dimitri asked as he gently slapped Prem's right cheek making sure he was awake and had heard him properly despite the pain he was probably feeling.  "Repeat."

"One hour...warehouse 57 at pier 11," Prem replied in a slur.

"Good boy," Dimitri smiled and slapped his cheek again.  He motioned with his head and the guards walked him over to the side of the boat.  "It's time to go swimming.  Don't be late or..." Dimitri shifted his eyes towards Heer's direction and the men holding her squeezed her arm making her yelp in pain.  Prem awoke from his half dazed state and shot a dirty glance towards the men.  Dimitri laughed at the reaction.  "Do svidaniya  (Goodbye in Russian)"

Within that split second that Prem was being thrown overboard his eyes never left Heer's gaze.  He was silently telling her he would be back to get her and not to worry.  Cold water surrounded his body and soaked through his clothes as he was dunked downwards.  He swam to the surface and turned his body around to see the motorboat speeding away down the waterway of the harbor disappearing around a bend.  His face hardened at the thought of what they could do to Heer while he was away.  He needed to get the discs and head to the location they had specified fast.

Prem turned to his right and started to swim back towards the docks.  He had only swum a few feet when he heard a motorboat slowing down steering its way to him.  He lifted his head and saw Preet and Sanjana waving their arms at him.  Preet help pull Prem onto the boat and inspected his friend as he noticed the busted lip and bruised face.  "Sh*t man are you okay?"

"Those were Belova's men..." Prem explained as he wiped the water from his face.  "They have Heer...we have one hour to hand over the discs.  We're meeting at warehouse 57 at pier 11.  I'm to go alone."

"You're going to give them the real discs?  Not the fakes?" Sanjana inquired.

"Of course the real ones," Prem snapped.  "They're not playing around.  I'm not willing to play around...this is Heer's life on the line."

Preet placed his hand on his shoulder, "We know man...we know.  We should probably have backup that's all...some precaution.  Rishabh has probably sent out a BOLO for us to Interpol'they're surround us in a seconds once the police gets the tip.  There is probably a BOLO for Belova and his men.  You go do the exchange and once we have Heer safe and sound we'll call in the tip and Belova will get arrested, okay?"

Prem nodded his head.  "Okay, call when she's safe...not while I'm still in the process of the exchange."

"I promise you," Preet said looking him straight in the eyes.  "Don't worry...we'll get her back.  Nothing is going to happen."  He then helped his friend to his feet.  "Let's go back to shore and get you into some dry clothes." Prem made a small nod signaling his agreement.

Sanjana steered the boat around and sped off back towards the docking station they had taken the boat from.  Prem peeled off his shirt and wrung the water out off the side of the boat.  His eyes stared down the water way with a look of determination.  I'm coming Heer...just hold on...if they hurt you in any way I'll make them pay...I swear I will...I'm coming...I'll be there soon...Prem thought to himself.

You are so beautiful, beautiful

Wo-wo-wonderful, wonderful

(I'll be there...)

And it's killing me

You set me free

(I'll be there...)

You are so beautiful, beautiful

Wo-wo-wonderful, wonderful

(I'll be there...)

And it's killing me

I'll be there...
