Thanks a bunch for posting the schedule :)

It is going to be so weird watching La Liga without Raul, and Guti *cries all over again*.

P.S. What do you all think of Real Madrid's tactical red-rover plan to buy all possible midfielders (13 -- including the new signing of Ozeil -and counting)?

Have Raul and Guti retired  from the game or have they left for other clubs? I agree about the weird feeling of  not seeing Raul play for Real Madrid, you mention Real Madrid  and the first name to appear on the team sheet would always be Raul LOL. Great player.

With Mourinho's arrival at the Bernabeu the 'El Clasico' is only going to get fiercer. Just hope Mourinho doesnt park the bus in order to get an rsesult out of Barca!

I hope there is more competition this year for the top honours, dont want to see two horse race between Barca and Real again.

Thanks alot for posting the fixtures.

^ Oh no. They haven't retired, just moved to different clubs (Raul to Schalke 04 in Germany, Guti to Besiktas in Turkey) so they can get more playing time than RM could afford to give them. Hope when the time comes for these two to retire, RM does a proper sending off/tribute.

To be quite honest, I think RM is going to have a tough time giving Barca competition this year as once again after last season, the team has been revamped with new faces (VDV leaving was so sad) and everyone needs time to gel as they were towards the end of last season.

^ Thanks. I havent been following Spanish football lately, so had no clue Raul and Guti moved on. Fair play to them looking elsewhere, for more play. Im a great admirer of Raul the player and his loyalty to the club, a rarity these days.

I did catch the highlights of the RM game, it was boring to say the least, wasnt impressed, in comparison Barca looked a much better side. To be fair, a new manager and new additions it will take time for them to settle in, so Im looking forward to see how RM's season unfolds.

Regs RM ( and many other clubs) signing players they dont necessarily need, it annoys me to no end. I point to the Fabregas situation, currently at Arsenal he is guaranteed first team football in all competitions and also has been honoured with the Captains armband, but he still wants to go? For what, to warm up the bench at Barcaa Looking at Ineista and Xavi, it would be really difficult for him to break into their already worldclass setup. At Arsenal the team is built around him and whereas Barca he will be fighting for opportunities. Yet, I still see him crying for Barca everyday! If I were Wenger I would bench him all season!

Glad domestic football season is back and now with the Champions League draw out, we can look forward to some great games.

^ I totally agree with you about Raul. He has been a phenomenal striker from the cantera who adores the club. Guti, too, although his diva attitude sometimes overshadows his brilliance as a player. RM really do need more players like them (and put more faith in their cantera).

To be frank, I wasn't horrified by the draw against Mallorca because I was expecting a defeat with a drastic goal difference (new signings, defenders and midfielders dropping like flies due to injury, new manager, tactical changes etc). Plus, Mallorca typically are a strong opponent at home.

Completely agree with your POV on Cesc-Barca situation. I'd previously chalked his actions up to indecisiveness but Cesc really should leave it alone. I don't think he realizes that he'd be warming the bench at Barca, he's more emotionally charged about it but IMO, Arsenal fans don't deserve this treatment. I think Wenger would bench him if not for the numerous injuries at Arsenal this year. Shame Nasri is out for a while.

Ah, I'm looking forward to CL - especially Bayern vs. Roma, and the clash of AC Milan/Ajax/RMadrid. Inter v. Bremen and Chelsea v. Marseille might be interesting too.

^ LOL at Guti's Diva attitude, so true though. But no one can deny his phenomenal footballing abilities, he is right up there with some of the other RM Legends. But then not everyone can be the P. Scholes, R.Giggs and Raul etc.. These types of players rarely come by now. Just LOVE them for ALWAYS letting there football speak for them like it should be! C.Ronaldo takes the cake though when it comes to Diva attitude on the pitch, his theatrics are just on another level LOL! Again a brilliant player (his statistics speak for him), but he can be right asshole with his OTT histronics.

I agree with you on RM first game, it wasnt a disaster or anything, BUT just plain boring, I just couldnt see anyone scoring.

Regs the Cesc issue, I agree, his is more of an emotional decision (since he wants to pursue his childhood dream) to go to Barca than for footballing reasons. I still believe he can achieve so much more at Arsenal than he would eleswhere. Oh Wenger would NEVER bench Cesc, not only does he have injury worries, he doesnt have a wordclass midfield to replace Cesc even if wanted to you. So Cesc can pretty much get away with this whole mess if he decides to stay! Wenger will never invest or look for established stars.

CL- RM and Bayern have the toughest groups, some interesting matches to look forward to there.United and Chelsea have pretty safe draw, Arsenal managed to get ANOTHER really easy draw. New addition Spurs should be interesting, though I doubt they will go far!

I take your RM fan, whats your take on Jose Murinho's arrival? His Press Conferences are to die for LOL. One of his many famous verbal volleys " Please dont call me arrogant, but Im a European Champion, and I think im the special one"! His introduction to the english press as Chelsea coach.

^The thing with Guti was - he had a lot of talent (not just in the fashion sense, that is :P) but it was presented in flashes of brilliance. Raul, on the other hand, gave it his all every single game. I totally agree with you about players like Scholes/Giggs/Raul. LOL @ CRonaldo being a diva. He is one - complete with the need to bath in tub of hair gel and doritos, dramatize contact (which I like to think has lessened over the years)  and CR7 product line *cringes* but he has a crazy level of dedication to the team esp when recovering from injuries - I'd be lying if I said I didn't like that about him. LMAO. Yeah, he does have the ability to appear like a complete ass. Noticed that at the WC where he was acting like a collicky child (game against Spain, in particular).

I agree with you re: Cesc acheiving more at Arsenal than anywhere else. He's developed into such a phenomenal player there. Take Gourcuff who is around Cesc's age for example. Yoann is a good midfielder by all standards but Cesc is way more refined. In part, that has to do with the interference of Ancelotti at ACMilan but that just goes to highlight how much better Cesc has it with Wenger.

I think Bayern is going to have a tough time since Robben is out for a while. Yup, Utd + Chelsea (in particular) have it relatively safe. Barca have a bit of a rematch with Rubin but ah, they probably won't underestimate the advantage Rubin have at home this time around :P I'm looking forward to seeing the Spurs v. Twente (first time in the CL, I think) Should be interesting. RM might have a tough draw but I'm glad we didn't draw Schalke >.< That would have been really hard.

LMAO. His press confereces bring in the lulz ("I'm not Harry Potter")  but he's a good manager, one I hope stands up to Perez and Valdano and tells them to STFU. I'd rather Pellegrini had stayed for another season (seriously, that man is underappreciated: 31 wins in 38 games with a team that was haphazardly thrown together over the summer is frickin amazing) to provide some sense of stability since that is what the club really needs at the moment. Unlike Perez + Valdano, I'm not looking for instant results but long term impact. I really hope he stays for more than one season. I've been happy with his choices (Carvalho, Khedira) so far, though. Bringing in Carvalho was probably the best thing Mourinho forced Perez to do this season.

P.S. Did you catch Barca vs Hercules? I was stunned. It's not everyday you see Barca lose at Camp Nou.
