i think it was bcoz prats was sad and she had already faced a lot of humiliation and suffered a lot of pain
maybe kesar thought it was best not to inform her bout that at tym when she was almost broken

So that there is a big drama and high point in the serial when the Thakurs actually try to kill Pratigya.
