Since sometime we have been complaining about Bi-weekly and large cast. We get feelers that it's all SONY and FW has no say (hard to believe). So now we are going to look at things which we think are completely at the helms of FW. This is the first topic in this series.

THE FORENSIC LAB
First and foremost immediate attention needs to be paid to the FORENSIC LAB. Since the past few months the Forensic Lab has turned into one big mess and its high time FW gives it proper attention. These days Labs scenes have become what AD breaks are supposed to be. Just don't feel like watching them. One of the criteria to like a case has become if it has a Lab scene or not and if it does not it gets brownie points.
LAB - THE EGG BOILER
To begin with, every lab scene starts with a loud, constant boiling "gud gud bud bud" sound, so jarring to the ears. We have even renamed it and often refer to it as - EGG BOILER. That is exactly how it sounds, as if dozens and dozens of Eggs are being boiled for the entire team. THIS NEEDS TO STOP. So many of us are or have been science students and seen many labs but never seen a lab where multicolored chemicals are constantly boiling for no reason. So if FW is under the impression that by having a constant boiling sound in the background makes us feel we are in a lab then you are totally wrong. Sanjay (Wandrekar) Sir please look into this.
Initially we thought it's just the background score but we realize that the multicolored liquids are ACTUALLY boiling. There are vapors coming out of those test tubes and beakers. This so unnecessary, our heart goes out to the poor actors for what kind of air they are having to breath. God knows what is used to color those liquids and which kind of chemicals are actually getting released in the air. In Mumbai temperatures are as it is high, what the point in increasing it further. Last but not the least since this has no value addition at all why is so much LPG being wasted. Please FW - Save Energy Save Money.
LAB - AN UNHYGIENIC FILTHY PLACE
These days with each passing episode Lab is looking like one dirty, filthy, unhealthy and unhygienic place. The poor lighting in the forensic lab adds more to all this. So many of us would never want enter such a place if it was for real, gives an absolute 'yuck' feeling.
In the recent Kissa Aadhi Laash Ka (aired 23-Jul-2010) - There were two half-dead bodies, decaying since a week, kept in an open glass camber. It looked horrible to say the least. In 2005 cases we have seen them in closed glass chambers. What happened now?
Doctors never have their Aprons / Lab Coats on. Dr Salunkhe is seen cutting through bodies in his suits. This makes it look unprofessional and ridiculous at the same time. I personally can never forget that last scene from Manav Bomb (aired 18-Jun-2010) when a bloodstained bomb, just taken out of a living human body was placed in Daya Sir's naked hands. That was so yuck. Even though we know all this is unreal but isn't FW working towards making us believe that all this is for real.
Worse is even when there are decaying dead bodies kept in the open like this Doctors and Officers never wear their masks. There was a time when if Dr Salunkhe would be shown cutting a through a body in the Team's presence he would ask the officers to wear their masks and only after the slit was stitched, he would ask them to take it off. What happened now?
These may seem like small things but are of utmost importance. Go a few years back, check your own work and you will realize what the lab was and what it is now.
BODY CUTTING
These days Body Cutting scene is the only thing that has become more realistic than needed, too much in detail. There was a time we used to have food while watching CID but since Khoon Bandh Darwaze Ke Peeche (aired 30-Apr-2010) and Rahasyamai Darwaza (aired 21-May-2010) we ensure we have food at least 2 hours before telecast. In the former Dr Salunkhe took out the dead body's heart and showing it (again no one wearing masks), followed by some stupid Dil conversation and the later had one of the worst looking body cutting scenes (personally I did throw up seeing it).
You need to realize that a large chunk of your audience includes little kids and you have some responsibility towards them as well. When something like this is difficult for adults to watch, what it must be doing to the kids. Earlier during such scenes either the scene would turn Black & White, or a toned down color and the same scene would not look as bad. You need to go back to that, this one aspect we would like realism to stay away.
LAB - THE GOSSIP SPOT
Since the past two years, ever since the Abhijit-Taarika angle 🤢 started, Forensic Lab has become a place for the most cringe-worthy, immature and non-sense talk. Dr Salunkhe bickering all the time with ACP and Abhijit Sir. That bickering tone is so annoying. Abhijit Sir only busy doing "Taarika ji Taarika ji" like a Roadside Romeo, the "peechhe pad gaya" category while there is no response from Taarika. The worst part is that all this nonsensical lovely-dovey talk is being done amidst dead bodies. It made a lot of us Finch.
If that was not enough we have the very new Sonali Barwe, supposedly Dr Salunkhe's Classmate (difficult to believe unless Dr Salunkhe failed in the same class for 15 years). Now the scope for gossip talk has increased multifold, we now have Dr. Salunkhe of all people trying to flirt with Sonali, struggle for supremacy between the two and constant immature bickering between them. Even kindergarten kids can manage better, more meaningful conversations than these two.
Forensic Science is not a joke and Lab is supposed to be the place to find helpful clues to solve a case but it has been reduced to a gossip spot. Again please go back to 2002 cases, feel the lab then, you would realize the lows we have reached.
THE DOCTORS
Dr Salunkhe - Our senior most Doctor, has been around since the show started. He was our ACP Sir's friend and almost father like figure for Daya-Abhijit. This character has the worse character graph in CID. What he was when he started and what he has become is painful for fans who like him in the old avatar. Till Jun 2005, Salunkhe was a respected doctor, someone we wanted to hear, got to learn from and would command a strong position. By the way he was married then. Post his return in the Wigged Avatar, the character is hitting new lows with each passing case. He suddenly returned as a bachelor talking about girlfriends. He is mostly seen taking about affairs and chakkar. Frankly speaking when a senior person as old as Dr Salunkhe does not talk about anything else it does not reflect well on this character. It takes away the respect we have for him. A request to the Dialog Writers, please keep Dr Salunkhe's age in mind, such immature conversations make his character look bad. Please don't spoil his character, our original Dr. Salunkhe was never like this, you changed him and spoilt him. Do some magic and get the old Dr. Salunkhe back.
Dr Taarika - More than the character it's the actress who disappoints us most of the time. She has been around for 4 years now, yet she continues to sleepwalk through her scenes. The body language to is too laid back, dressing is like an airhostess more than a doctor, voice modulation and dialog delivery is a BIG problem. Even when there is just one line to say she manages to mess it up. That's not good. Sharaddha dear, please do something about it. Directors need to tell her she is faltering. Personally speaking I have only got used to her presence since there is no other way out; else I have not been able to warm-up to this character. In other words if this character has to depart I will not miss her much, I may be happy.
Dr Sonali Barwe - The brand new entry into the lab. Now we have 3 experts in the lab for what? Only FW knows because we have not been able to figure out. She has come and only added another negative, another low to the existing bad state of the Forensic Lab. Apart from the creative team giving her silly things to do, we are disappointed with Manini, the actress as well. We have seen her doing a working woman's serious role to the hilt in one of the stories of Siddhant (on Star One) but here she seems to continue her ManiBen.com act in CID. This is very disappointing. Of all the new entries she was the one we were most hopeful and feel let down. Both ladies add to the already long list of unimpressive women in CID.
Everything we have tried to Highlight needs FW's attention. Please take corrective measures. This would improve the standard of the show even in its current state and help creat the right ambiance .
