My long post! Embarrassed

A book I completely adore (adore is the right word)

  • The age of innocence by Edith Wharton

It is such a lovely piece of literature. Basically there is a gentleman from high society who has an idea of his perfect girl. He gets engaged to a lovely girl he adores. Because she is the product of the perfect proper society they live in. Then her cousin comes. She left her husband and she is bold Big smile. Something proper girls are not suppose to be. The family pleads her not to divorce her husband as it would ruin their name and honor. The guy really cares about honor and because his fiance's family is like his family he asks her not to go through with the divorce.............and she listens!!!Shocked

And of course it comes to haunt him as he falls in love with her. I will stop here in case someone finds it interesting and decides to read it.

A Book I ABSOLUTELY DESPISEEEEE

  • The awakening by Kate Chopin.

It's about a woman (also from proper society) she tries to break free. Finds a lover, leaves her husband and then meets tragedy. Hated it!Thumbs Down

A book I am in the process of reading

  • Anna Karenina by Leo tolstoy

Russian Literature. Embarrassed That is also about a woman who falls in love with another man while being married and tragedy strikes.Confused

Ermm I am starting to think I only read about women. I think I do actually!LOL I go through my college reading list that has hundreds of literary works on it and then pick things I could enjoy.

The last book I really really really loved

  • The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoyevsky

It's a Russian Literature. ( I love Russian lit) It's about a guy who is slightly crazy. He is not really crazy but he is so so so so so good at heart that he is basically considered an idiot. He comes to town to a very wealthy distant relative's house. The relative's youngest gorgeous daughter falls in love with him in a weird sort of way. And he likes her but he mainly worships this other woman who happens to be a wealthy mistress of some guy (former mistress). It is such a sad book!!!CryCryCry Just the thought of it makes me want to cry my eyes out. There is actually an indian movie on it. It had Nana patekar, Monisha Koirala and Jackie shroff.

READ THIS SUMMER:
a) The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma : It makes us realize, how we are trapped in the rut of life. It gives life an essence, why we are here, what do we expect out of it. The Sages of Sivana, divulge the secret of living a peaceful and meaningful life.

b) P.S. I Love you by Cecelia Ahern:

Read this one long time back, just re-read it this summer! A heart-warming love story which says "Love lives even after death".

c) The Time Traveler's wife:

A man with a disorder, finds himself at unknown places, in unknown eras. Every other day, he finds himself waking up in a different world! Its about how his wife copes with it and they try leading a normal love.I don't know why, I didn't fancy me much!

d) Gold by Issac Asimov:

Sci-fi, one of the last by the writer. I particularly liked the story about a "robot son" !

And yeah... I LOVE TWILIGHT BOOKS!  So, keep on reading them, every once in a while!Embarrassed (Edward's mine... forever!)

PLANNING TO READ:

1. Gone With The Wind.

2. The Kite Runner.

2. What did you read this summer ? I read a lot of books... I don't really remember all of them LOL But let's see... I read the following

Inkspell - Cornelia Funke
Three Weeks With My Brother - Nicholas Sparks
Boy: Tales of Childhood - Roald Dahl
Interview With the Vampire - Anne Rice
Vampire Academy series - Richelle Mead
Re-read the Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
The Lottie Project - Jacqueline Wilson
Miles To Go - Miley Cyrus
Bridge to Terabithia - Katherine Paterson
Desperation - Stephen King
Flowers in the Attic - VC Andrews
This Lullaby - Sarah Dessen
A Wrinkle in Time - Madeleine L'Engle
And lots of others that I can't remember right now :P

3. What do you plan to read in the near future? Well, I've started about seven books that I mean to finish sometime in the near future :P They are...

The Vampire Lestat - Anne Rice
Tales from Watership Down - Richard Adams
The Five People You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom
Inkdeath - Cornelia Funke
Gone With the Wind - Margaret Mitchell
Lord of the Flies - William Golding

Apart from these, there are some that I haven't started but want to read soon :)

It - Stephen King
The Shining - Stephen King
Only The Good Spy Young - Ally Carter
Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins (comes out this month.. eep! :P)
iBoy by Kevin Brooks
Chords of Strength - David Archuleta

I think that's all... for now :P

4. What was the last book you really loved? Ooh, that's hard... hmm.. probably Inkheart by Suzanne Collins... or Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson :)

5. All time favorite book? Without a doubt, the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling <3

7. Pick a book you absolutely like or absolutely dislike and give us a detailed analysis. (yes it can be 3-4 lines) Ooh, that's a toughie... I don't really dislike any books apart from the Twilight series... and I'd rather not say anything about that here because I don't want to offend any of the fans :) But there are way too many books that I really like to single one out so I guess I won't be able to do that... that probably didn't answer your question but anyway LOL

Oh question for Perfangel :) Have you read Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky? I've heard it's supposed to be really good and since you like Russian lit, I thought I'd ask :)
