Though it is a modern or educated world in most of the families it is applicable, either they drive daughter in law because they just find no importance in her without their son or are worried she will claim for the property.  But do there are exceptional families, who love their daughter in law as their own daughter.

Very good topic Deepa hats off to u highlighting this malady in our society, i guess this is atleast one good reason every girl shud be well educated n independent...Embarrassed...hope ppl dont say I am degrading them bcoz they r uneducated n unemployed....i read from else where tht Mai was horrible to Ichcha, i cud nt expect any thing more classy from the uncivilised illiterate mean minded Mai, Baldev n Co..bunch...

Thank you Shivani Smile. You are right education is the biggest strength and support of any person. But the  fact is at in laws house no other person can be lovable and trustworthy than husband. Even in the both cases of educated and uneducated girl it is very bad to see there is no love and support from other family members at husbands side.

Sadly thts true, but the chances of being treated like a door mat will be less i guess. Women  generally are treated like door mats bcoz they are vulnerable n dependant on their husbands for their daily living, its a different issue tht most indian women dont admit 2 it (just like Ichcha), coz they wudnt want the society 2 pity  them n take them for granted.

i totally agree with u..usually in our society a wife's relation depends on husband's..n if husband dies/or even get ill than all blame on wife..this was so ridiculous that they thrown ichcha out even b4 vansh's chautha   Cry   Cry Cry   Cry didnt they saw ichcha's pain..her grief...wat trauma she is having? Angry

It's not with Bundela parivaar Gals I read a news today Wherein "Mangalore crash Victim's widow has been sent back to parent's house" This happens in Kerala which is one of the most well-educated City in India Shocked

Maybe what the CVs show is true and happens in some part of India but they got to show it in the right way At least they could have reflected some positivity here....That those ppl stand by her and support her when Ichcha is highly let down

Not only in B toons, these kind of reaction are expected in real life as well, especially from the female above 50 years old.

this behaviour is not limited to uneducated families...so called modern educated families of the uplifted society also behave the same..my maasi got widowed quite young..and her in laws started their "kha gayi bete ko" crap almost a couple days later only..when in fact frankly they themselves were responsible..diabetic insaan ko sharbat pilayenge to aur kya hoga..and when my maasi used to protest they used to shut her up..my maasi was not even in the city when this happened, maybe things wud have been different tht ill fated night if she was..anyways they had full plans of kicking her out bt dint want to let her son go wid her..after all "son" hai..long legal hassles and all..finally all got better and they both moved back to my nanu's place..quite a lot of people have this mentality of getting a servant cum nurse cum incubating machine in the name of marriage..its sad..
