It is the MAJOR incentive as far as professional lives go.

I can already see doppelganger making big arguments over this one in the future when you worry about the low income job with measly pay and no benefits and doppelganger says she is most happy. LOL

Simple demand and supply.

thats not what you would see around..... given the economy recessing there are undeserved people who are being overestimated /upply /demand works more with forecast and some estimation.. so whereas it can pin the amounr someone can be paid to hook toyour org.. its veri difficult to assess that worth as being overestimated until its too late...

popularity carries its own price and that cant be disputed.. its absolute worth... All we are talking about professions which are over estimated and overpaid.. for no rhyme or reason.. in fact sometimes that is even causing a damage..For. eg.. Software professionals can be assessed by product development companies but not by companies where its not the core business. Such companies have tough time to hold back people without overpaying.. And most software professionals I have seen are not better than monkies (literal aping)..

the software service industry would rank next after the car salesmen and cellphone companies.. they are next to rip everyone off in their way..same holds true for finance industry...

You can not compare teachers with actors or softweare enginners with basketball players when you talk about income disparity.  You compare compensation packages with in the same industry for similar job type for different demographic areas, educational background, certifications, gender, ethnicity, years of experience etc.

After you come up with a benchmark - that's when you start looking at the outliers - that's when the specific individual qualities like personality, dedication, drive, inherent intellect etc. make a difference
Nah.. the topic is questioning absolute worth of certain professions vis-a-vis others.. its a nice topic... you cant do the comparisons you mentioned since it becomes subjective... people getting good salaries in most profession are obtained mostly by being a good psychophant....

In some countries the law enforcement personnel are underpaid too.
This results in them looking for "side" income and "undertable" deals.
