Without knocking,Arjun entered his room,only to see Karan kissing his current girlfriend.

"I didn't see a thing!!!"he shouted and quickly ran out.

"Just this morning he was with someone else...dunno why he's so hard up on commitments,"Arjun muttered to himself.Just then,his cellphone rang.

It was from his Dad.

"Yeah Dad,"he said impassively.

"Are your classes going well?you're comfortable?and living up to your name,aren't you?"his Abhimanyu Kapoor wnt on.

"Yeah Dad.I'm living upto my name.I'm as comfortable as any student should be here,"he said.

"You are not ANY student.will it take you a lifetime to accept that,Arjun Kapoor???"roared his father."you have already given us enough shame by deciding not to join the family business and taking up Law.what in the world am i going to answer when the media questions me???"

"Tell them your son has a mind and choice of his own,"snapped Arjun.

"Do NOT use that tone with me,young lad.you are no one yet.show me how great a lawyer you can be.we'll see then,"said his father.

"I'm sorry Dad,but i don't see any use of wasting my time in war with you,"said Arjun and hung up.

Seeing Karan's girlfriend go out of the room,he stormed in and slammed the door shut.

"Second girlfriend in a day?slow down a bit,"he told Karan.

"Love is trash,Arjun.the more babes a day,the better,"shrugged Karan.

"Trash?that's harsh.what makes you think that?"said Arjun.

"People in love are never happy.take a look at my parents for instance.they were madly in love in college.defied their families and got hitched.but what happened then?constant quarrels everyday....i don't remember one day i'd not sit on my bed,listening to their quarrels and wishing they'd stop.and then they divorced and i was tossed like a plaything from one parent to another as per custody laws.so whats the use of love then???i'm happy this way!!!"exclaimed Karan.

He turned around to see Arjun standing by the window,looking out.

"Wassup?"he asked understandingly.

"Does Dad even remember its Mum's deathday today?"said Arjun.

"I'm sorry,"said Karan."i still rembember that day,you know...it was all over the headlines.ABHIMANYU KAPOOR'S WIFE DIES DUE TO FATAL CAR ACCIDENT.."

"ACCIDENT.thats like the biggest joke i've ever heard,"said Arjun,lighting his cigarette and taking a puff."My mother gave her life for him,and he tells everyone its an accident."

"Easy,Arjun.."Karan said..

"He tells the whole world the car she was driving had a brake fail...when the truth is my mother actually paid people to do it....just so that Dad and his girlfriend could be together after she died,without society having to demean him!!!she died for him and HE..!!!"Arjun roared.

"its good your dad's girlfriend refused him after that,though,"said Karan.

"Where do i get back my mom from,though???!!!he killed her..."said Arjun,taking more and more puffs."and mom?she killed herself for him...and didn't think even ONCE for me..????

Karan got up and walked towards his best friend.

"I guess Life's just a bit too mean,mate,"he said keeping his hand on Arjun's shoulder.

"Why us,Bro?"said Arjun,looking at him and hugged him.

nice part.liked the bonding between karan-arjun.....he he ...beautifully written..i am liking tht u guys r developing the characters first and not jumping into any lovestory rite now...want more now.....do update soon,
