I like labels. You can put them in boxes, stick on the labels and neatly organize. Without these labels people are like an endless mob, everyone blended together, no differentiation, no organization. It is confusing. Like when you see a bunch of monkeys, you really have no clue who's who in the zoo. Chaos might work in nature. But as civilized humans we need to sort people in their boxes and organize. Makes good sense.

Sort people on what basis? Gandhi and Godse both were ardent Hindus, isn't it funny?!

Gandhi - Category: Hindu; Sub Category: Pacifist
Godse - Category: Hindu; Sub Category: NRA spokesperson

Personly I dont like a particuler labels...In real life or virtual life everybody try to label others different tag or names then they themselfs say labeling is wrong...WinkTongueReligious tags or lableing is a infinit process, we cant stop now......I think every label is a full stop.... And I don't like full stops, I don't like even semi-colons: Life is always ongoing...accept yourself...enjoy the freedom...Smile

Welcome to DM, Googly. :)

Religious labeling is needed. The same we have different cultures --- we have different religions. Imagine throwing the cultural label out and made it all into one big culture ---- we'd lose so many traditions along the way. Same way, religion is also associated with various rituals and traditions that'd be lost along the way. More than anything, religion is part of your identity, as previously pointed out by others above, so many things from your name, to the way you greet others, the way you choose to dress, your morals, your values ... and of course your beliefs all drag you back to your religion. If we lost the ability to state that we belonged to a certain religion, we'd, in turn, be losing a part of our identity.

The biggest problem is that people always try to hide the differences. They think that by covering up differences and showing off similarities, people will come to accept each other. That is not true. At the end of the day, even if our religion may ultimately be preaching the same thing, we hold a different set of beliefs, we have different colored skin, and we come from different cultures. Blending everything into one will not solve our problems, in the end, we all have to take the harder way out and accept that we are different. And that no matter how much we want, we can't change that. Embracing differences is very much different from erasing differences.

With a name like Sarina, who looks like an Hispanic even to the Hispanics, but dresses and acts like a country peasant - what labels would you give.

The hardest time is trying to box, label and organize myself.
