Girl, God sometimes gives your desires only partially and expects u to do the efforts to complete it ..... the other half might need u to fill in ....ok....Think... if a BAA or  a BADI MAA exists even partially in your future mother-in-law would u not accept her ?
Well, Simran .... then try the recipe of  making a complete MIL package by  adding some ingredients of  love, affection and dedication in your service towards her  and i am sure as a daughter- in -law u can def. make her  a complete BAA or BADI MAA.... Thumbs Up

I guess everyone has made their analysis and have included everything needed...so i am saying all this keeping me in my mind...

First of all I have been born and brought up in a nuclear family with only my mom and dad.....so my upbringing has been in such a way in a nuclear family that no matter how great family i get ,may be better than the kashyaps consisting of members like badi ma,etc....I can never adjust in a joint family....I am not saying JF is bad but the way I have been brought up...staying in a nuclear family has made me more personal, confined only to a 2 bhk flat....I have become so personal that I actually hate socialising with people much...so for  a person like me who has just seen 2 members in a house till now..he/she wud actually feel awkward living in a family of 13 pplConfusedso i guess its the same thing with Suhana tooCry

Second about the NF v/s JF thingy...I

I guess there is more privacy in a NF and u can actually do whatever u want without any limitations or restrictions from someone...and it also leads u to being quite selfish at times....And i guess in a JF there is a level of secuirity...u actually feel secure in a JF b'coz u know that someone is there to support u during ur bad timesUnhappywhich is missing in a NFCry

But I guess the family which is potrayed in this show is very rare to find these days...nowadays people have become so ambitious that they can go to any heights or stoop down to any level in order to achieve what they want ..even in a JF......However sweet family it may be..there is an amount of back stabbing, kitchen politics..etc etc.thing in a JF nowadays......nevertheless..living in a family like The kashyaps wud be a dream come trueDay Dreaming

So for me its a thumbs up for NF as of nowThumbs Up.......coz i am assured I will always be staying in a nuclear family..coz my dad is the only son and I will never have to go to a sasural after marriageLOLcoz i am a boyWink

@dewdrop-I just wanted to say..where were u during my board exams???CryI had the same topic for my english assignment for 50 marksLOLI almost struggled to jot down points for the topic...only if i had joined IF then and if SGP wud have aired at that time...i wud have surely copied ur points and wud have pasted it into my notebookLOLhmmm..let me see what is my nxt eng assignment...I will open a new thread for that topic..and as soon as u reply...fultoo copy and pasteLOLdont worry I wont give any credits to uLOLWink

Awesome discussion going on ........

@ red -  agree with this bit compltly cause really JF are no longer like they use to be cause their is lot of competition and ambition that comes in the way of love and fun ......

I have been raised in a NF and am getting married into a NF as well ...so much so that my fiance is the only child .....but seriously i wud have loved to be a part of a JF just for the sheer experience of being part of one ....Smile

And i am a firm believer of the more the merrier .......

i am born in a nuclear family...just my mom and dad...i dont even have siblings..

i have always felt lonely...my mom is a housewife,,,she has done her best to spend most of the time with me...but is that enough...

i dont think so...i have never had a fun time with my cousins also(7 of them..)...they live in different places...and live their own lives...even when i go for vacations it has been a very formal visit..this had made me thrive for a big joint family..

i dont know how a real joint family will be...if i consider it to be like SGP or Baa Bahu aur Baby...
then i will do anything for it...yes wen we live in  a nuclear family...privacy becomes a big issue wen going into a joint family...but wen we want to go into a JF cant we sacrifice our privacy??iam ready to do it...

next wat i want to put forward is the success of a JF..it solely lies with the brothers-sisters in the family...they should be united and trust others...they should consider others problems and hapinnes as their own and take part in it...hence when their children see that they too will have that bonding with their siblings...if they look their own brothers down then JF will never succeed..

Another factor is money in JF...i always liked BBB in that case...eveyone giving their share for the family...and then they see their personal expenses...this will not bring status into the family...

taking everthing into consideration..this is why SGP family is successful...

Dadaji and Dadiji has never made a difference between Alok and his brother...has treated Bahus as Daughters and thats the reason Badi maa is still in the house...alok treats badi maa as his elder sister and respects her a lot...seeing this their children..ishaan,inder and ilesh has the same bonding...rajni and disha(hopefully suhaana too...)are like sisters...thats the bonding we get in a JF...and money everyone gives it to Badi maa...that solves the problem...and also wen u have such a bonding family..no one thinks about money...

i always think JF is the best...we just have to leave our privacy and money...u will have a great life...

Even I have been brought up in a NF, and I can really relate to all that you have said regarding lonliness. Even though I have a sister who is more like a friend, once you grow up and start college and all that, you tend to have different lives with our own set of friends. And almost at that time we shifted to a bigger house with both of us having individual rooms with attached bathrooms even. So we used to mostly be confined to our rooms, doing our own stuff. Since both my parents are working, usually its just the 2 of us at home. Even though she is a great company and all that, still with few people staying in a house, every member faces lonliness at some point or the other. Sometimes I get too busy in life with studies, work, etc., she feels ignored, and vice versa. So at those times I used to envy when I see seriels like BBB and such seriels positively motivate us to wanting to stayin a JF. If I was given an understanding family like BBB or even SGP, as you said, maybe the need for privacy can be ignored as in case of a tradeoff between privacy and loneliness, the former is comparatively less important. And ya, you will also forget what 'boredom' used to mean LOL!

But unfortunately, things are not so nice in reality. Though I havent permanently stayed in any JF, I have had experiences of staying there temporarily, and trust me, its not all that great. If you would want to sacrifice so many aspects in your life for a JF, even the JF should be worth it na? If not, all that would happen is you would be draining yourself and others would be taking advantage of you.

So I just hope you get a JF like BBB or SGP, or even better, so that one of your long standing dreams since childhood would be fulfilled Embarrassed.

truely wen i see them i really want to be in a family like that...but i agree there are very rare families like them...and yes joint family is not an easy one...and going into a JF in future is not easy...as the number of JF is also very little...
for now iam very happy watching these shows...watching these shows always brings a smile to your face...and brings a positive attitude...

LOLMy future MIL is a sweetheart, how I love her. Come to think of it, she's just like Baa/badi maa; we use threats like if you say/do that I'm telling herLOL. However, sadly (for me) it is not a joint family. Hopefully, I'll remain the daughter that I am today for tomorrow and never let the "in-law" come between us jiSmile. Relationships are made when both sides give their equal, and you're right if I want my Baa/badi maa i need to be her Praveena/Rajni.

Very well said Simran..... Clap.......glad that u have got such a wonderful future mom-in- law..... u know mom-in-law are also mothers first...... u were so very correct......we just need to show our presence as daughter in their life to invoke the mother in them...... yesterday in shaunak's thread i made a posting for mother's day..... i wrote.... I could not ask god for more.... i have 2 mothers in my life...... with this attitude darling...... u can only do wonders in relation to your mother -in- law.... oops mother......Wink
