Anand's house. Father son duo nursing their bruises. Father is sitting in the front room in his Soorpanakai avatar relaxing. His daughter comes with the medicine , chides him for  seeking a proposal for brother with out making proper enquiries about the party. Father admits the mistake for under estimating a foreman's family. Shares his malarum ninaivugal with his daughter... His first nasal attack while in school  & after so many years  hit at the same spot....nondhufies his vidhi.

Anand lying in bed with multiple bandages grumbling in pain.His lips were puffed up & looked like [ in Sue chech's words] parrot's beak.. His mother feeds him soup , cursing all & sundry for his state. Assures to get him a better alliance. TA comes , shocked at Anand's condition, scolds for not calling him immediately , curses Vel , vows to see him one hand. Anand  ovuthu vitting his veera dheera puranam , says had he been in his uniform , he would have given back nicely , but unfortunately he was in his dhoti , so was more worried about it giving way , felt it is  better to bear the beatings to the avamanam .[ kuppara vizhundalam meesayila maNN ottala kadhai]. TA wants to know whether Anand still wants to go ahead with Tulasi. Anand says he is very firm in that &  from now on all the beatings will be jujube to him...kalyanamnu onnu nadandha that will be only with Tulasi. TA assures to unite them .Anand starts floating in dream land & TA starts thinking seriously.

Deepa's house. Varadarajan comes home dejectedly as shetji has refused to buy his vehicle  ,so as many others as all feel that Vel might create unnecessary obstacles while transfer of names as deepa was responsible for his jail vasam. No one wants to take any chance. Deepa feels all for the good. She says engineering is not the only option, all degree courses are good & will fetch her good job, has seen an advertisement for nursing course in the paper , wants to pursue that , hope to get immediate job once she completes the course not only in India also abroad, more over feels will get more job satisfaction  thru that profession.[ your service is needed madam for Anand & TA who are in for more trouble from Vel.]. Mother also supports her. Finally dad yields warning at the same time not to enter into any unwanted controversy . Deepa agrees.

Sudha riding her moped with flashback of MIL's alattal uruttal of the previous day when Charu family visited their house. Stops at a public booth ,calls Charu's father who was about  to join the family for the breakfast. Charu's father takes the call , hears a lady's voice  telling him that the boy selected by them for their daughter is not a good person. Charu's father quickly puts the phone on  recording mode & continues with the conversation. Sudha  paints a negative picture of TA...not a good person , unnecessarily pokes his nose in  others affairs, once had a tiff with a police inspector for helping his daughter to marry the boy of her choice , his name is in the police record, doesn't have a good name even in the back , not careful while handling finances  [ ayoda Murugesan matter idhai prove pannidume], has many girl friends etc etc & hungs up . Charu comes out to call father, finds him in contemplating mood asks for the reason. He narrates the phone call & plays the recorded message to Charu & asks her opinion about TA. Charu  feels that the anonymous caller  must be having some grudge  against TA.  Couple of occasions  she has spoken to him, seems to her to be a more genuine person. Can't accept the caller's statement about his weakness for girls. In fact she had called him couple of times , never once did he. Charu feels that the caller must be jealous of him & wants to tarnish his name.
