Kratika Sengar was all set to play the older Rani Laxmibai on Zee TV's Jhansi Ki Rani. She was to step in the shoes of Ulka Gupta, who is currently seen playing the title role but unfortunately her entry has been delayed not just once but twice. Reason – good ratings. Gupta is not only the face of the show but also a star in her own right. One doesn't know if they will accept Sengar with the same warmth. Apparently, tired of waiting in the wings, Sengar has taken up Aahat and will be seen in an upcoming episode of the show.
A source informs, "Kratika was to be introduced in the show after 30 episodes, around September, but Ulka's popularity delayed her entry. Again she was to enter in February this year but she has been made to wait yet again for obvious reasons. Now we are planning to bring her on the show in May but this again looks bleak as one is planning to reap the fruits of Ulka's popularity for some more time. If one decides to introduce her in May, she will have to start rehearsing by the second week of April. And it's not just Kratika who has been made to wait but also actresses like Malini Kapoor and Shalini Kapoor who will play pivotal roles in the show post the leap are awaiting their turn."
So did Kratika inform the producers before taking up Aahat ? "Yes, she had informed us."
Sengar on her part said, "I can't really comment on Jhansi ; the producers are the right people to talk about it." So did she take prior permission before doing Aahat ? "Everything happened according to protocol."
Well, we hope, Kratika doesn't have to crash her hopes like Angad Bedi who too was all set to play the older Prithviraj Chauhan in Star Plus' historical but had to wait endlessly, as Rajat Tokas, playing the younger Prithvi continued to woo the viewers.
