It's the season of comedies in Bollywood! First the blockbuster success of 'No Entry' followed by the smash hit 'Garam Masala', it seems like the audience are in the mood to laugh. Luckily Bollywood is ready to give them another fully fledged comedy in the form of the multi-starrer Deewane Huye Pagal.

Deewane Huye Paagal is the story of geeky Karan (Shahid Kapoor), who secretly lusts after Tanya (Rimi Sen). Whilst their love story is beginning, Tanya witnesses a murder and quickly migrates to Dubai to start life again with a new identity, leaving Karan clueless about her whereabouts. Three years later, Karan finds a clue about Tanya's new location and hires Rocky (Akshay Kumar) to trace the girl. Although Rocky wastes no time in finding Tanya, he happens to fall in love with the beautiful girl – coming between Karan and his true love. In fact, it seems Tanya is attracting every male in the vicinity – even a couple of disabled guys (Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal) are head over heels in love with her! With so many guys trying to win the heart of one girl… things get very complicated, very fast! Which one will Tanya choose? And what happens when the murderer she is avoiding lands in Dubai to finish her off?

After a couple of successful comedies recently, will Deewane Huye Paagal be ranked alongside No Entry and Garam Masala? Well, it's certainly worthy! Director Vikram Bhatt definitely shows his talent in this movie, making a fast-paced, entertaining movie, with plenty to offer the audience. Naturally this is escapism stuff – once again logic has taken a backseat, making way for over the top fun, so leave your brains behind. The story is heavily inspired by Hollywood smash 'There's Something About Mary' – some of the scenes are exact copies in fact (the plagiarism does not stop there either, even Kevin Lyttle song 'Turn Me On' is lifted in the movie, but that's another story!) – However on this occasion, the Bollywood makeover proves quite successful.

Once again Akshay Kumar steals the show – the actor has true screen presence in the movie and overshadows everyone else – he's truly becoming one of the most dependable names in Indian comedy. Rimi Sen lands one of the biggest roles of her career – the film revolves around her character – and the actress does it justice, especially towards the climax. Shahid Kapoor has a much smaller role in comparison to Akshay, but does a good job. His beginning scenes as a nerd are very successful and his dancing is top notch. Paresh Rawal is okay this time – not on par with his Garam Masala performance. Sunil Shetty is effective, providing one of his funnier performances. Johnny Level is good. Vivek Oberoi as narrator is effective at some stages, but annoying at others – especially when he sings and goes over the top with his expressions. Aftab Shivdasani in a special appearance is forgettable.

Deewane Huye Pagal offers a complete package – the comedy is there, the action scenes are great to watch – especially the motorbike stunts, the romance is overflowing, and everything moves very fast, keeping you entertained – from the very beginning introduction scenes to the crazy climax scenes. Go watch it!
