Choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan is all set to turn actor with J. D. Majethia's Khichdi EBLS. Directed by Aatish Kapadia, the film is based on the popular TV sitcom Khichdi. Says Farah, "I knew that Khichdi was a popular show and JD is a college friend. When he approached me, I saw no reason to be hoity-toity. I agreed to do the film because I knew it would be fun." Farah plays herself in the film and is supposed to direct a love story as the lead characters of the film Hansa and Himanshu pretend to make a movie to impress the latter's in-laws. The film is written by Hansa's husband Praful. Farah agrees to direct the film on the condition that she is not given any credit. "But Supriya Pathak and JD try to make so many changes in the film that in the end I run away," smiles Farah. Of course, the whole sequence is part of the film scripted by Aatish Kapadia. Being a director herself, didn't she feel like improvising or giving suggestions to Aatish? "Not at all," says the Om Shanti Om director. "Aatish was clear about what he wanted and I enjoyed shooting for it. What's more I was served good Gujarati food," she grins. Farah shot her scenes last week in Film City.
Says Majethia, "When I approached her for the cameo she agreed immediately. What's more she didn't charge a penny for the role. Even when I insisted on it, she joked that she only wanted good Gujarati food. She is genuinely a large-hearted person and I have named her queen Khan," smiles JD.
The cast of the film comprises Supriya Pathak, Anang Desai, Rajiv Mehta, Nimisha Vakharia and JD, who is making his film debut. Satish Shah, Deven Bhojani and Paresh Ganatra have special appearances. The film also has JD's daughter Kesar making her debut as Chakki.
The shooting of the film is complete except for two songs.
i think the movie will release soon, and it looks good too, this is the only movie i am waiting to see so far, because of the writers, who made bbb, khichdi, sarabhai, rc. other movies out right now aren't interesting, and cliched, same stuff again and again.
