Om Puri, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Kamal Haasan all have acted in foreign language films too(not Indian) and are famous among good film lovers around the globe.. Mohanlal's and Kamal's movies were nominated for oscars in foreign film category multiple times.. They are still main stream actors.(not bollywood though😆)

New generation bollywood actors are not very popular among serious film lovers in India..😊 You people still didint get the poll question.. The question is 'who is India's best actor?' and not who is India's popular bollywood star?' Arguments should be logical, otherwise it's just waste of thought n time..😊

Popularity has nothing to do with an actor being great or not..😊 Our generation just need dumb masala entertainment.. That's why bollywood actors are more popular..

But the fact is Akshay Kumar, Salman and all will be forgotten with the passage of time.. But the names of great actors will be inscribed in golden letters in the history of indian cinema and their picture will never fade in the hearts of 'sensible' film lovers!😊

So that's what makes a great actor according to you? Awards? Plus, it may have been rigged. Even Akshay Kumar and John Abraham acted in foreign movies and Anil Kapoor,so it's no big deal. You didn't quite phrase your questions correctly, the question is "Who is India's Best Actor in Lead Roles", not "Who's India's Best Actor in Supporting Roles?" or "Who has been India's Best Actor in Lead Roles?" And if you had to include old people, why not Dev Anand? He was also a very capable and exceptional actor. The problem is that he's not from your time. It's the same with the modern age. They are very popular now but maybe 30 years from now, our grandchildren will be asking us"Who is Aamir Khan?"(no offense to Aamir fans) And if your question is "Who is India'sbest actor",the answeri s we don't know yet. There are hundreds and hundreds of people who deserve a chance in mainstream movies. Some may be even better than the mainstream actors now, who knows. Even some theatrical Indian actors are better than Bollywood stars, so why not include their names? So, yes, pouplarity does matter. Yes, I agree that Salman etc.. will be forgotten with passage of time...just like Sanjeev Kapoor etc.. have been forgotten.
