You see in certain religons and communities like Muslims and Parsis , Mormons(and others that try and keep a pure blood line ) it is acceptable so there is not much of an issue .
But say in Hindus , Christians and Sikhs and most other communities it isn't for many reasons . First and foremost it is considered as incest as they are your siblings . Secondly for medical reasons. Thats why the debate !
let me quote a third reason...to prevent unscrouplous cousins from taking advantage to innocents under the pretense of love. everything that has been quoted in favour of such marraige , can equally be quoted for a marital relationship between siblings and even parents and kids(in fact this form of relationship was quite prevelant in societies with pure bloodline ideologies like ancient egypt or where it was hard to find a suitable mate like a few southamerican and african tribes).but soon it became a way of keeping property in the family and sexual corruption. father would eye his preetiest daughter from birth and attempt to marry her once she was eligible(in most societies the age was 13 years).certain queens in rome are believed to enter in such relationships with thier sons to keep the reins of kingdoms to themselves.the young girls/boys on the other hand were too innocent to be able to differentiate between love and parental love and were easily fooled with the surge of emotions the felt
