The definition of success differs from person to person and field to field. One could take economic success as a touchstone to label a person successful in life, ignoring his of her other failures, like divorce, health, inefficiency, etc. Others may look at a capacity for overcoming challenges, irrespective of what someone earns and the nature of their private life. So who is a successful person and who is a failure? Do school and college grades and examination results provide a way of predicting or ensuring future success? If that is true, then we should encourage as many young people as possible to go to university and work hard to gain formal qualifications. But is it true? Aren't some college drop-outs like Bill Gates and Richard Branson hugely successful icons of success? And should we automatically consider the millions of young people who have not had the opportunity to gain academic certificates to be failures in life?

I've noticed Whether one is proposing marriage, applying for a job or looking for a new business partner, the first thing people ask is, "what do you do?" In other words they judge you by your academic qualifications. No bio-data rsum or curriculum vitae is acceptable without the inclusion of education qualifications. Therefore it is an unannounced rule of both the corporate world and the social world that a man and women's acquisition of academic qualifications is a giant leap towards opportunities in every walk of life.

Academic qualification is an asset but can in no way ensure success. We have too many qualified idiots in the world !
Success is again financial, academic, social, physical, spiritual etc Real success is achieving contentment .

All in all, its just another brick in the wall.

All bricks together are collectively responsible in making the wall. It is ridiculous to count on one brick to make the wall.

Nothing can ensure success in life, but there are things that can help you get there. Education is definitely one of them. Work hard, give it your all, and in the end, be happy with what you get. That's success.

You need brains and balls to suceed. in life.
You need to have background, money and some backing by someone to attain academic qualification.
they are irrelevant to each other, but coincidentally some academically qualified people are very successful in life

one thing that we need to understand is academic success and being a straight a student doesn't ensure our success in the real world. sometimes these straight a students despite their success in their academic life are not able and do not have the ability to apply those theories to real life application. however, what is being ensured from these academic qualifications are even though we are not having economic success, it guarantees us that we will at least have a job or a decent job. people like bill gates or michael dell or richard branson who are college drop out and are able to make billions for themselves are past in our generations. actually they are gambling with themselves by dropping out of college and starting their own companies. but the main issue is supposed to be, how many people could follow the path of these great people who made billions by dropping out of college and starting their own business. and these people have to make their own businesses, if their business failed then it will be impossible for them to find a job with other people as nowadays people want to hire employees with at least a degree. the times have changed since the times of bill gates and when at those times it is possible, it is getting more and more difficult for the current generation to do as they have done in the past. and oprah once said that having a lot of money in life doesn't mean that you are a successful person. of course money is good and you can accomplish a lot of things with money, you can get a lot of things with money. however, according to her what people want is not only money, but also money and meaning. there are a lot of people in this world who have a lot of money in their lives but are unhappy with their lives. i think it goes back to the individual themselves of what is the definition with what is happy and successful. there are people who are rich but still think that they are not yet successful in the field that they are threading, but there are middle class people who are content with their lives, proud with their lives and feel that they have done a considerable amount of success in their lives.
