Often times in Hindi serials we see that girls—no matter whether they are modern or traditional—wear sarees and salwars (and other conservative clothing) after marriage.

Do you think that today's youth should do the same?

I personally don't. I think one should wear whatever they feel like it, and express themselves. I mean sure, some-day's I'd wear sarees and salwars—but just because I feel like it. Perhaps it is because I do not live in India, so I don't find many occasions to wear Indian clothing. I agree to an extent on the conservative clothing part. I mean I wouldn't wear a spaghetti straps and a mini-skirt, that's for sure.

What about you?

i was born in the states and i grew up here and i don't live with my in-laws ..even if i did i would dress how i did before i was married...they're cool & they don't care so i wear whatever i want as long as my hubby approves of it...but most of the time who listens to him lolLOL

i don't think girls should have to dress conservative after marriage!  but i do believe some things should change like the whole dress like a single or a teen thing should go away after marriage.  even though some girls are expected to wear saree's or salwaar kameez after marriage you can still express yourself in the traditional clothing! many girls in india, when i go for vaca, i have seen that there are lots of ways to incorporate your style with traditional clothing!
but all in all i beleive that you should never be forced to wear something just becuase you get married

I wouldnt wear traditional clothing...and i dont think its a big deal here in the US. If i got married, i'd wear what i usually wear! Except for maybe the first few days cause they have all those rituals and people coming over and what not Wacko

But i dont think i'll leave my jeans and sweats for sarees or suits LOL

I do like a lot of the styles they wear in the Hindi serials, but wouldn't necessarily wear them.   We also have seen actresses who wear quite untraditional clothing even post-marrriage, i.e. Malaika Arora Khan, Karisma Kapoor, etc.   I knew a friend who used to wear mini skirts and short tops who was also married, but they looked good on her.   I feel that it should be the choice of the person.   Times have changed, and women should not have to uphold a certain dress code just because their status has changed.   If they have the figure to carry it off, why not?

For that matter, I have seen clothing I think is kind of revealing for a ten year old to wear, but it's still seen in the shops.   It depends on the person and her parents in that case.  Embarrassed
