Uh, no.

I don't think racism is that simple. But I thought it was weird how in the Lion King everyone is supposed to accept that the Lion is king. There's no democracy or freedom!

The only Disney movie which was socially conscious I think was Bambi. They actually show the effect that humans have on ecological systems. For a Disney movie, Bambi was really sad and painful. Especially when you watch it as a kid.. it's depressing!

Yeah but there are other powerful animals too, that I'm sure could even combat a lion very successfully.

Lions also rely on other animals for prey. I mean, every ecosystem is complex. Nobody "naturally" deserves to be the king. In the olden days there was this idea that the king was divinely ordained, but that was just used to manipulate and rule over people. The French Revolution radically changed that notion.

Yeah, maybe the makers didn't think too much about monarchy, but sometimes we support particular values and beliefs without thinking about it because we have internalized those views. That's how racism works, and even sexism.

I mean, that's why psychoanalysts have a job, right? Wink

Hmm I don't remember scar being black, just a darker shade?
