Honestly, I think it has to be both. Love is a two way street. There has to be mutual love. If the other person does not care for you, the way you do for them - it will be emotionally difficult. Similarly if you do not care for the other person the way they care for you - its emotionally tough for them. And when one person is down, everyone is down.

Although if forced, out of pure selfish reasons I would choose the person who loves me. I want to feel loved.

But in a realistic note, sometimes this love shove can be too idealistic and mushy. On a practical sense the way to pick a partner is not the person you cannot live without, but someone you can actually live with and look forward to it.

Quite true ideally it should be bothways and mutual.

It is said that some men want the wives to listen and follow all their commands, so they need either a maid or a slave. If not a robot.
