we all do...but nobody takes a step to make a difference..

I know , I feel helpless for one reason, Iam here and I dont know how to help kids in India. One way is sposer children,but the way ppl are corrupt , I really doubt if they are used for the right cause. Last month, on my dad's death anniversary, I sent money thru my bro to one of the old age homes and u know they were claiming they have around 50 old ppl at their ashram but only three were there in that place. Ppl try to earn in every possible way Mehr. This is not the first time I saw this happening. How do I make sure the help I want to do reaches the right ppl?.  I want someone reliable to tell me that yes ur hard earned money is used for the right cause not for filling the pockets of some moeny-chusing-parasites.

Since I am a tax payer, I expect that my money is not used in building statues and filling the pockets of bureaucrats and politicians, and is utilized for the welfare of this country's citizens, especially children.

It's not cope out... it's feeling the pain of a human tragedy. Coping out for me when you standing there, have the resources to help, but still make an excuse and walk away.

As for aid organizations - there are watchdog organizations that keep an eye on such organizations.  The World Wide Web is amazing and if all you think you have to give is "money" not time then the web can give you loads of info on what organizations are up to the mark.

@An - governments sadly forget they should be about "we" and start to ponder "me" -its a trap that most governments fall into just like the rest of us mere mortals.
