Update for Thursday, Oct 22, 2009:
Kasthuri is being advised by Ganesh that her going out too much is not good as it may attract Soma's attention. Jothi comes in and adds her piece. Kasthuri asks if this is out of concern and Jothi says that there is no point in looking for the dead Thiru when Ram is very much alive. K says that Ram is Jothi's son, but Thiru is K's husband. Next, J asks Ganesh to arrange for her to see her beloved son, and asks K to accompany her. Then she does some emotional blackmailing and K gives in. J asks Ganesh to make K see reason, and he tells J that she sees K as her DIL, but she has to learn to think of her as her daughter. (This J is beyond my comprehension).
Thiru surveys himself, decides to wear the clothes gifted by the FO. Nandini (whose hair desperately needs some attention) takes food for him in a tiffin carrier, no plate, calls his name and then enters. She is shocked to see him in those clothes. He sits down to eat (off the floor? She didn't give him a plate!) and then he says that he wants to go out for some time and she says that her father has gone out, but he has left instructions that Suriya is not to go anywhere, so he can go after checking with her dad.
Nandini comes and lies down. Mom asks her to eat, she says she is not hungry and then asks why her dad had to give that shirt to Suriya. It was the only reminder she had (of what and whom? why is subha introducing yet another new story?) and she is upset.
Ram in jail - evidently they get very good food here, he looks very well fed, and his hair is also neatly combed down. He has visitors, Ganesh, Jothi and ... Kasthuri. He gets emotional on seeing Kasthuri, asks her to turn so that he can see her, sees that she looks like she did when he first saw her, talks of how he treated her so badly, and then true to character, blames her for his failure to reform. Had she not been so tolerant and forgiving, he would have reformed (yeah, and I believe him!) and so on, and on. Ugh! She remains quiet, so he keeps asking her if she doesn't want to talk to him (can he blame her?), and she asks him what she should talk about, and why? Of course, he understands her unwillingness to talk to him, so Jothi says that "thousands irundhaalum, she is your wife and you are her husband", and he says that those days are over. Camera freezes on a sober Ram (and I want to gag!).
Thodarum ...
