I think that consciousness is one but egos separate us.
So if you want to separate yourself from the crowd, keep fuelling your ego.LOL

^^Don't really find the concept of torturing before slaughtering a very nice idea but won't mind trying them either if it tastes good. Atleast it will be a new experience.

This may look far fetched Wink, but I think that even an atom or an electron, or anything below, is also somewhat conscious or somewhat in the aware state. This is because every other particle senses other particles using electromagnetic and gravity fields.

Our consciousness or awareness is just on a different level.

But you don't support the fact that an atom or electron is living right? Or do you think everything is living, its just that are different levels to it?

see thats the only identity we have isnt it... we dont like identifying ourselves as "humans"... we have a name and certain identity.. which forms our ego.. so there isnt much effort required... there.... ...consciousness is defferent levels of identifyin with the sorroundings.... like i think i am surrouded by gals... or i am sorrounded by sexy gals.. or I am surrounded by objects of sexual interest.. i am surriounded by someone who is sometimes a sistetr or a mother...etc etc... its just matter of how we realize our surroundings with respect to our persistence with mortality...Smile

I'm personally against torturing for food. But its kind of a hypocritical stance. Lobsters, crayfish, crabs, and lots of seafood need to be steamed alive for freshness and best taste. I remember Amy Adams' Julie contemplating being a lobster killer in Julie Julia. I think I have sort of mentally formed an image that steaming seafood alive is acceptable. Moreover its an abomination to eat it itself, whats one more sin.

I'm not that adventorous with food though. Whenever they have grasshoppers, worms etc I am grossed out. Although I tried smoked eel sushi and am a fan of that smoky eel texture. I also had a sashimi platter once. The most challenging in the sashimi platter was the octopus. It was like a tentacle with the suckers still attached. I still did it. interesting chewy texture.
