What do you think is the reason for United States education Institutions to be dominating the list? [There are 8 American institutions in the top ten list]
america had got independence much b4r other countries and they had gt enough time to devlop themselves.so they are leading .
If you do not currently live in the United States, would you move there to get "best" of the education? Why or why not?
No,i wil not move to us for better education.its am having the education in the best place INDIAEmbarrassed

How come there are no Indian institutions on the top ten list? What are your reasons for them not being on the list?
India also had universities like nalanda where people from al over the world used to come for learning but later it was ruled by britain and the cultural universities were shut down .and later india gt independence in 1948 so its developing again Big smile

Out of the top ten universities would you be interested in attending any one of them? If so which one? Please give reasons as to why or why not.
erm if it was in INDIA or neighbouring countries  i wud hv been intrested in atending the university.Big smilei love visiting foreign countries not living derBig smile

it is very inappropriate to categorize a university without mentioning the basis of the categorization...
universities ranking depend on the funding received, the research level, the size of the institution, the history, the location(one of the high powers of california based universities is its proximity to the silicon valley), the living conditions, teh scholarship opportunities and many more..

I am not sure what ARWU rankigs are based on..

but harvard doesnt rate high in engineering FYI..it is the leader in certain zones like arts, law, business as you guys already know...

the engineerign rankings are totally different

University of Illinois at Chicago is comparably a low rated university...it  figures in teh top 30-40 universities in terms of research but it has an awesoem geographic location..yea the booth school of business in UIC is rated pretty good though.

the indian universities are not in teh top 10 because they dont figure in the rates yet!

I am in the USA now pursuing my masters degree... in one of the top 10 colleges for this department where in I am... my university is rated rank 5 in this field of engineering ... but it does not figure in a cumulative sense because there are multiple factors to be considered ...

EDIT:
one of my friend is ina very specialised fields- spatial engineering..geospatial sciences..and the top university in his field is the university of maine which i have no idea about but that is the best!

hence i would say, these generic results do not give you the real picture at any lengths

WOW interesting list but what is this list based on because in overall rankings the list is alot different because in the world list UCL should be on there above Oxford and Imperial is in the top ten as well, though Oxford is higher in educational standard they spend less money on research grants therefore it loses rankings.

Maybe there was a change in 2010 but in 2009 the list was something different.

Again Indian universities are not in the list because of the lack of funding they get for research grants therefore they fail to make the list.

As for a degree I shall always chose a British degree in the UK than anywhere in the world because it is always recognised across the world.
