Satya Narayan Tripathi is a contented man and he is blessed with his own land, regular income to take care of his daily needs of food, clothing and lastly a wonderful family. The only thing that worries him is his son, Shubh as he feels that God hasn't been kind to him but over a period of time, he has learnt to accept the situation.
Satya is a simple man who strongly believes in values. He could never hurt or cheat anyone. He is benevolent, honest and caring.

Shubh is a perfect blend of traditional values and modern sensibility. He is the main protagonist, who is the epitome of goodness and values. He is today's Ram ' strongly principled, devoted to his parents and his family and full of values. He is an ideal son one could have. His life is centered on God and the teachings ingrained in him since childhood by his father, Satya Narayan. He has single-handedly expanded his family business through his acumen and foresight. He is extremely creative and sensitive towards others. Despite being handicapped since birth, he does not succumb to the challenges that life throws at him and manages to keep his family together.

Yashodha is a 25 years old widow, who has been dumped by her in-laws. Since she has nowhere to go, she takes shelter in Mahru Chachi's house. Later, on Mahru Chachi's insistence, Satya marries Yashodha.
Yashodha's nature is that of loving and caring. She usually does everything possible to make Satya and Shubh happy. Her devotion and fondness for Shubh only lasts till she gives birth to her own children. She unknowingly becomes biased towards Shubh. On seeing Satya's blind faith on Shubh and bestowing him with all the responsibilities, Yashodha becomes insecure about her own children, Arjun and Ansh. And this leads her to provoking Satya to get Shubh out of their life.

Arjun is practical and believes that emotions make one weak. He has studied abroad and has grown to see his father being more inclined to Shubh, while his mother more inclined towards him. This has led him to develop bitterness against Shubh. Although, Arjun has been the apple of Shubh's eyes, Arjun continues to believe that Shubh has always taken away his share of due.

Ansh is extremely close to Shubh has been somewhat raised by him. He is instilled with the same values what Shubh as imbibed from his father. In trouble times, he tries to play a perfect brother like 'Laxman' in Ramayan but somewhat fails.
Despite being handicapped since birth, Shubh does not succumb to the challenges that life throws at him. He is a perfect blend of traditional values and modern sensibility. Shubh is a child who has learnt all about life through the teachings of his father and his mother, who although is a step-mother, is Goddess personified for him.
In this time of Kalyug however, the father who has always been righteous, somehow gets blinded by his own righteousness and goes wrong. And the mother, who has been an epitome of love, somehow succumbs to her motherhood and turns selfish. In spite of these odds, can Shubh manage to keep his family together?
