Finding out that Kal Penn is going to be in a new movie is one of the things I look forward to now. Seeing him evolve from his role in the cult hit American Desi to mainstream Hollywood films is really amazing. But before every one of you thinks this movie revolves around our favorite Desi-American actor, you're in for a surprise. As I said, this is a Hollywood film and our star is the ultra-charming Ashton Kutcher along with the perky and cute Amanda Peet, the female lead/love interest.
The film is loosely based on what can actually happen in the course of every day life. As we all know, the possibilities are endless. We experience a number of odd, or sometimes enjoyable moments with people in our daily lives. Imagine meeting someone by chance one day, and then ending up having that same person come in and out of your life over the next 6-7 years.
That's exactly what happens to our boy-toy Ashton, who plays Oliver in "A Lot Like Love." After being mesmerized at the airport by Emily (Peet), the two end up on the same flight headed towards New York. On the plane, the two exchange bodily-fluids in the bathroom instead of exchanging phone numbers like normal people. Ofcourse, we come to find that these two are anything but normal.
After the chance encounter on the plane, and then some memorable hanging out in New York City, the two part ways. Two years go by before the two meet up again and under similar circumstances, disappear from each other's lives yet again. This happens over the course of 6-7 years. When finally, fate kicks in and well, we don't want to ruin the movie for you.
"A Lot Like Love" is a really charming comedy about falling in love, and all the risks that one places upon themselves relating to the emotion. We only get so many chances with the people who we honestly care about. Sometimes, its not worth the sacrifice, but what if it was? That is the question you will be left pondering.
Ashton and Amanda do a wonderful job on screen, I can actually see the both of them as an item. Kal Penn, my favorite brown cutie has a small role in the film, but the screen time he does get shows his talent well. This is the perfect date movie! If you don't have one, then what are you doing reading this? Go out and find your special someone before its too late!
