the next few decades the world's population aged 60 and over will more
than triple from 600 million to two billion. Is this a problem or a
good thing?
For the first time in human history there will
be more people aged over 60 than children under 15. Most of this
increase is occurring in developing countries where the number of older
people will grow from 400 million to 1.7 billion.
The BBC's
World Today programme on the World Service will be looking at various
aspects of dealing with an ageing population. They will be talking to
experts and the elderly about these issues and also want to hear from
you.
Is the government in your country doing enough to
prepare for this new demographic? What is the secret to a long life?
Would you like to live forever? Have you or anyone you know suffered
from age discrimination?

I think a growth in ageing population is a good indicator of health & health services. But a balance in age grp is preferable.
Is the government in your country doing enough to prepare for this new demographic?
Indian govt is beginning to be sensitised regarding the growing geriatric population as is evident by the various retirement benefit schemes, tax sops for senior citizens, special concessions & facilities for them in health care , travel, saving schemes, old homes etc but more needs to be done !
What is the secret to a long life? Life wud seem to be too long to one who is fed up or bored with it & too short to one who 's in love with life !
Would you like to live forever? Not unless my body & mind stops ageing , anyway what s imp is the life that one adds to ones years rather than the years that one adds to ones life
Have you or anyone you know suffered from age discrimination?Well, I see some ppl mistreating their old & feeble parents , I guess U cud call that age discrimination
