Sarina, if you'd made that clear earlier, I might not have wasted two pages writing big replies. When someone uses the term 'religion', it follows logically that one would be thinking of organized religions, due to the popularity it has extended through out the word. Quite honestly, now the term 'religion' is synonymous with only the Abrahamic religions. Other than that, if by religion, you mean ones 'way of life' in the spiritual sense, I see no problem denying that science could be classed as a form of one's religion, (If the person uses science as a mean of explaining his life). Now a days, many people depends solely on science as a means to answer fundamental questions of their life, so yes, following that logic, science could be one's religion.

Besides it is not as if there are no zealots and extremists in science either. Some scientiically bent people are no worse than religious fundamentalists casting their own judgments on others.

That's absolutely true; however, I feel the number varies vastly.

Yeah, but bear it in mind that Einstein was a self confessed agnostic (though, it must be noted that he admitted believing in Spinoza's God; he just couldn't accept the way the God had been depicted in religions).

"Science turns rational people into irrational one" - how far do you agree with this given statement?

Let's start debating again!

EDIT: Personally I'm of the opinion as long as a person isn't a religious fanatic/lunatic, there isn't a reason why it should change a person's personality and way of thinking. However, with the amount of fanaticism we are seeing these days ... Ermm

Any reason behind your fondness with this particular analogy? I see you using this wherever you go. LOL (Just a thought; no offense intended).
