Nimmi - Majority of the countries where prostitution is legal, do have a legal age for people who want to enter the field. Accordingly, any underage person who joins ( Or is forced to join ) prostitution does so illegally. I guess underage prostitution exists in countries where it is within the legal framework.

Since we're having this discussion, I also came across an article which said that there needs to be regulated legalization of prostitution. Brothels run by pimps and other human traffickers should be made illegal.
Women are treated like commodities and playthings only when 'Legal' aspect does not exist. Otherwise, I'd like to say that it is not the woman's body that is being made a public property, it is the services that are being legally provided to people who seek them, through a woman's body.
I do not know much about the origins of prostitution, but I do agree that it is one of the oldest businesses in the world. In a nutshell, It is simply a service in exchange of money.
