Monday 13/7/09

Starts with Kavya convincing Selvam to join them - Selvam
is skeptical - " I have some work and also.... I am not used to
such star hotels.." Sori's friend makes fun - " kaattan mathiri
irukkan !! why did u call him?" Sori says that he has some
comedy time planned ( Roja is pensive - CK heading ai maathanumO??
if this is comedy time... namba kathai kanthal aagidumO??)
-" ange vantha theriyum.." Kavya is still talking to Selvam and Sori
hurries her - she just orders Selvam to follow and goes with Sori.

Reva and Archu in the temple. Reva says that she is very happy -
"at last we both have some time for a "tete e tete" . I am surprised
at your patience !! Some times when athai does some ashtothram
on you... I get mad but u seem cool !! " Archu says that she is used
to Laksha archanai -" anni and my sisters made sure to train me..
Though athai thinks that we are aliens, my hubby thinks of all you
as family - same with me. Athai is like mom - we never get upset
when our moms scold !!" Reva looks at Archu as if she does not
belong to this planet - "are u an earthling?? " As they are about to
leave 2 ladies talk about "oonjal Sevai - " Paartha romba punniyam..
baby porakkum..." Reva is enticed by that comment and goads Archu
to stay back for some more time.

Kavya waits outside the hotel for Selva. Selva comes and she asks him to
park and come. Selvam parks - by then Sori and co get seated - Sori
faces the entrance. Selvam comes and is stopped at the door -"shoe
illai.. dress code is not ok..sorry, u cant go in.." Selam pleads and wants
to hand over Kavya's bag. But the doorman is worried about visiting
the employment exchange all over again - "velai Poidum ppa...scoot...
Sori sees all this from inside and enjoys. Kavya is oblivious to all this. Sori
makes sure to divert her attention.." Menu..choose..." Finally Selvam hands
over Kavya's bag to the doorman and asks him to hand over to Kavya.
Requests him not to tell her the truth -" I got an urgent phone call and left nnu
sollidunga, ok??

Well, well, who do you think is privy to this scene - Jeyanthi ( hip hip hoorraayyy)
Watches the whole thing and stops Selvam as he is about to leave.
Bugs and nags so much that Selvam relates the whole incident..."Kavya...
nadu theru... Sori.... star hotel... me refused at first.... door man... me not allowed.."
Jeyanthi does some "uchu ucchu" but is glad - pazham nazhuvi paalil
vizhunthu..athuvum nazhuvi vaayile straight aaa ...a ha ahaaaa - Selvam requests
her also not to spill the beans to Kavya. Jeyanthi readily agrees. Selvam leaves
and Jeyanthi quickly decides to ditch the official meeting - asks her colleague
to hold forte. " I wont tell this to Kavya but will tell Archu - and let the sisters do
some kudumi pidi sandai !!"

Sori's friend asks Kavya "after the marriage will u call Sori maama?" Kavya
remembers maama and goes out to check. The doorman says that Selvam had
to leave because of a phone call and hands over the bag. Kavya goes in
and Sori makes a big scene - "see, i forgot every thing and invited him..
wanted to introduce to my friends....but he still nurses the ill feelings.."
Acts as if Selvam pointed a gun at his throat ... Kavya feels bad and
apologizes for Selvam... Sori is back to normal.... has a vicious smile
when Kavya is not looking..

Bhagyam is grinding...Raani is studying..Bhagyam is unhappy that the
DIL s escaped her clutches and are enjoying timeout .."varattum innikki..'
Asks Raani to lend a helping hand.."apram padikkalaam" Archu and
Reva are done with Jula swinging..head back home. Archu is worried
about archanai at home( Aadi aadi vantha Bhagyam athai doy .. Oonjal
oonjal ellam kaaname pOchu doy..- BG by Roja ) but Reva is not
bothered " we went to the temple after all.... not some movie.."
Jeyanthi sees the duo and wants to kombu seevify - draws Archu
away and describes the star hotel story.. " I never thought that Kavya
and Sori will demean namba Selvam.. They went by car and went in
to the hotel..Selvam was stopped at the entrance... Selvam was begging
to go in but no....so bad of Kavya..." Archu is like a jalli kattu maadu
which sees a red flag...heaves.... blazing eyes... Jeyanthi is happy to
have done her job... 'habba daa innikki nalla thookkam.." Finally
wants Archu not to ask Selvam.. "manasu thaangame un kitte sonnen.."
Mission accomplished - Reva and Archu head back home...

Monday 20/7/09 - Archives copy

Yellow sari and green blouse le vantha pisasu Jeyanthi
nalla veppilai adikkarathu - Pisasu veppilai adikkuma
Roja??? You did not see ..properly ...must be murunga
ilai or puliya ilai....But Archana is paying us all with interest -
puriyalai??? pesame iruntha thukkellam serthu vaichu
pesi kitte irukka !!!! " I was skeptical from the beginning about
attending this engagement...now I have decided... we will
not go, ok?? " Selva is vexed with his wife and her tantrums...
looks at Jeyanthi who looks like a cat which just managed
to jump in to a milk pot...the moment Selva looks at her,she
changes color and goads Archu to attend ..." I should have kept quiet !!!
if your brother comes to know that it is all my tiruvilaiyaadal..
i am finished....please come.... but be ready for some insults, ok??"
(well Archu can not see the obvious ... what happened to selvam??
cant he see through this pisasu??)

Selvam makes a feeble attempt
after the yellow "devathai" leaves " at least for your parents who came
and invited us..we should go.." Archu has a ready answer -" oh, no they
did not come here because of any love...they were worried about what
people might talk if we are not invited..U have your breakfast and go
to the shed, ok?" Selva makes another attempt to drill some sense
in to that Jalli kattu cow whose eyes are covered with a yellow cloth -
but Archu resorts to emotional blackmail - " If u have any "paasam"
(???!!!! translated as love??) for me, you will listen to me, now scoot.."
Selva goes to change his shirt and Archu stops -"pray, why do u need
a change of dress??'' Selva says that when people work in the workshop,
they can not afford to wear Tuxedo !! Archu says that he was not allowed
inside the star hotel only because of his dress -" so u will dress well in
future ... u are allowed to change in the workshop..pizhaichi pO.." Selva obliges.

Feverish activity - Kavya is getting dressed, Vinod gets food and water.
Sivagamy lights the lamp.... Sivagami wants to know as to what delays
Archu..Vinod calls but Archu has given hubby darling a parting
instruction - " you might get a call from my house, do not pick it up , ok??"
Selvam sees the number and ignores the call. kavya's friends are
making fun of her for wearing a saree -" your finace likes only modern
dresses?? would he be ok if u wear a saree??" Kavya says that
she would much rather please her parents' in law . Sori arrives
with his jing bang. His friends are surprised about his choice - "veedu
looks ancient... unakku epdi sariyaa varum?' Sori gloats "oh yes,
if i were to look for status.. well not this house...but Kavya made me
change my mind... after the marriage, i am not going to live here !!"
Well, the groom's side gets a warm welcome... all get seated.

Daddy Sori and mommy Sori start the dialog with an apology .
the other side has no clue - Sori mommy explains " we wanted u
to call Sindha..but she is in abacus training ...kambi counting seriously,
we embarrassed you..." Sivagami says that such things happen -
" u see, we are not in good terms with her.." Sori mommy wants to
know if Jeyanthi saw mommy learning 1 2 3 - Manjal devathai replies
that she has denounced Sindha mummy long back " my MIL and FIL
are my parents now.." Vinod looks up to see his wife " naan kanbathu
enna kanavaa illai ninaivaa.." Manjal sports a blue face.

Vinod tries to call Selva again - Selva is in the workshop.. his assistants ask him
to pick up but Selva is reminded of Archu's eyes - " ayyo da, antha jalli
kattu cow kku yaar bathil solarathu??? velaiyai gavaninga pppaa " The
priest is in a hurry -" enna, can we start?" Sivagamy says that Archu is yet to
come. Sori immediately jumps -" let them come, I do not mind waiting,
they both are very sensitive..." Jeyanthi looks as if she just got a scorpion
bite.. Thirudanukku ThEl kottinaa, kathavaa mudiyum?? So, she
cajoles the priest " nalla neram , innum evvalu meethi??" Priest says
that they just have 10 mins "athukkulle, u better change the plates !!'
Jeyanthi requests Sori to condescend and Sori agrees "if aunty and
uncle are ok with it, I have no problems..."

Kavya is called - she walks in and Sori rains from his mouth..the
drawing room floats ..Sori jollu thaan... Kavay is given a sari and
the priest makes an unnecessary statement -"wear the saree and come"

( hopes aiyare, hopes !!! saree kattikkama vanthuduvalannu ,,kaalam
ketta kalathile..enna yya hopes umakku??) Kavya walks in the new saree
and Sori jolls some more - looks like he drained all his body fluids -
the lagna pathrikai to be read - Priya serves drinks and Sori's friends
make fun of her " Pappa pappa entha school??" Pappa says that she
is in college.... Priest starts " so and so oda second daughter Kavya
vukkum... so and so oda first son Sorimuthu Aiyanaar kkum" ( apdi
podu, just Sori illiyaa?? ayyanaar vera ya??? Roja unakku thaan kashtam -
you love both these names...inimel what are u going to use???)

Sori is livid - shouts at the priest " I am not Sori, I am Sherry ..." Priest
is reminded of his evening drinks "Sherry, wine laam kuduppiya appa??"
but reminds Sori that he is just reading what is given to him. Pappa Sori
consoles that it is the "horoscope name" - "Only this is official" Kavya's
friends make fun of the name..Sori sulks... Kavya pichai pottufies a look -
"Intha vaichukke nee, jollu vidu, priest padichu mudikkattum.." priest
finishes reading the lagna pathrikkai and as the parents are about to change
the plates...Sori shouts "stop it" - the drawing room is stunned and Sori
asks " where is the first mappillai and daughter??" Jeyanthi is very happy..
Sivagamy, SIvaraman and Vinod are helpless. Vinod says that they must be
on the way but Sori is not convinced... Vinod does a castor oil bathed banana excuse..'athu vanthu.."
