- Amongst all the wars and battles, the one that stays yet unresolved is the 'Battle of Sexes'. While women have tried to outdo men in every field, why is 'sense of humour' still considered to be an 'only-male' attribute? How can women let go of such an important title??? Tired of being the soft target of all jokes, women now come back with a vengeance to conquer this territory. 'Bringing their funny side up and taking potshots at everything that comes their way' seems to be the only agenda of our talented women, in Zee TV's new show, 'Hasne aur Hasane ka Tonic, Ladies Special', a search to find India's Funniest Female Stand-Up Comedian, every Saturday 8.30 p.m., starting June 27th.
Zee TV has thus far highlighted myriad aspects of a woman's virtues in its soaps and now here is a way of presenting another new dimension to a woman's persona. Produced by Endemol India, the show will witness female entertainers playing on kitchen politics, kitty party gossips, take on stereotypical husbands and much more, leaving audiences in a laugh riot. With 'Hasne aur Hasane ka Tonic, Ladies Special', Zee TV takes its legacy further of encouraging unexplored outstanding talent by providing a platform to women next-door.
Commenting on the exciting initiative, Mr. Nitin Vaidya, Business Head, Zee TV and COO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. said, "'Hasne aur Hasane ka Tonic', Ladies Special is our step towards providing a 360 degree entertainment to our audience. With shows like 'Pavitra Rshta', 'Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo', 'Hero Honda SaReGaMaPa L'il Champs', 'Lux Dance India Dance' and many more we have treated our viewers with different flavours of entertainment throughout. Comedy, as a genre, was missing for long on Zee TV. Hence when we thought of offering comedy, we decided to bring up a stand-up comedy show, with a difference, instead of a sitcom. Encouraging new talent has been the core of all our reality shows and hence 'Hasne aur Hasane ka Tonic, Ladies Special' fit the bill perfectly, if our audiences' needs are evaluated.'"
Anchored by the popular actor, Swapnil Joshi, the show will witness a comeback of the famous singer, Baba Sehgal and the evergreen Tabbassum on television in form of judges. The final contestants were chosen after rigorous rounds of auditions across the country and were selected on the basis of their speech, presentation, fluency in the language, presence of mind and the most important, sense of humour. With a total of twelve contestants, 'Hasne aur Hasane ka Tonic, Ladies Special' is a thirteen week long show that promises to present the best of country's talent in the stand up comedy genre. The winner would be awarded Rs. Ten lakhs as prize money.
