Lets think of this in a different context, expanding on what Sandya already mentioned.
Without the existence of evil, there is no value to good. If nothing bad ever happened to us, if we never suffered pain, unhappiness, failure, we would never appreciate what is good. Good would cease to exist as there would be no comparative that makes good what it is. If life never challenged us with adversity would we ever need faith, hope or something to believe in to pull us through.
In Mission Impossible II they say, every superhero needs a villain. Without crime or evil, all our superheroes Batman, Superman whoever would be worthless.
As a matter of fact without the existence of evil, even God becomes a worthless and useless entity. Think about it for a moment, before dismissing it as an extreme idea. Think of how we perceive God as a beacon of goodness, strength, guidance and support. Our very perception of God is defined and created solely by the existence of evil. Without evil God would cease to exist.
Good and Evil are part of the same entity. Two opposing forces negating each other maintaining a balance in the cosmos. Without each other they cease to have meaning, and existence ceases to have meaning. Everything in the universe is part of a supreme cosmic force - matter-antimatter, good-evil, positivity-negativity. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Ashes to Ashes dust to dust, ultimately we all become one with the force.
May the force be with you.
