Aarthi (Sindhu), girl-friend of Ganesh who was working in a bank in Connoor. At Ganesh's suggestion, she had allowed terrorist Meera to stay with her briefly. Upon discovering that she had harboured a terrorist, she feared she would be found guilty by association. Subsequently, her home was found to have been set on fire and the assumption is that she has committed suicide.
Adhityan, novelist who wrote a book based on the suicide bombing in Connoor and the story of Aarthi and her family.
Anandhi (Lata Rao), daughter of Varadharajan and Sivagami. Her parents had made plans to get her married to Raghu, an accountant, but because Raghu's grandfather was killed in an accident on the day of the intended engagement, his parents called off the wedding. She has now married Parthiban, son of industrialist Rathinavel.
Augustine, deep-sea diver in Connoor who had been tasked by terrorists Meera and Ranjan to retrieve a gun from the lake. Instead of handing over the gun to him, he keeps it for himself with a view to selling it later. He would be a material witness to Meera's identity.
Dilipan, PA to Minister RSK, who had been the target of an unsuccessful assassination attempt in Connoor, and husband of police officer Mayavathi. Unbeknown to his wife, he is actually implicated in the assassination plot.
Elango (Rajkanth), husband of Gayathri and son-in-law of Varadharajan and Sivagami. He is a corrupt police inspector who also lusts for his sister-in-law Anandhi, whose marriage he had tried unsuccessfully to foil.
Ganesh (Saakshi Sivaa), son of Varadharajan and Sivagami, he runs a travel-agency. While working in Connoor, he had met and fallen in love with Aarthi.
Gayathri (Brinda Das), eldest daughter of Varadharajan and Sivagami. Married to police inspector Elango.
Hema, secretary to industrialist Rathinavel and his son Parthiban. The avaricious girl had a pre-marital relationship with Parthiban and has since blackmailed him into marrying her at a Registry ceremony on the eve of his marriage to Anandhi. Her primary intention is to have legal rights to Parthiban's wealth.
James (Father), a Catholic priest who is a former classmate and close friend of Ganesh's.
Mayavathi (Yuvarani), Deputy Superintendent of Police who was in charge of security for Minister RSK in Connoor. She managed to deploy a decoy and saved the life of the Minister, who was targeted for an assassination. She has since been transferred to Chennai as Assistant Commissioner and continues to investigate the assassination attempt. She is married to Dilipan, who works as PA to Minister RSK.
Meenakshi, wife of Senthilnathan and mother of Raghu and Swathi.
Meera (Meena), terrorist who engaged in a suicide bombing mission against Minister RSK in Connoor.
Neela, daughter of Neelakantan. She had run away from home and taken temporary refuge in the home of her friend in Connoor, Aarthi. She had also met terrorist Meera, who was then staying with Aarthi.
Neelakantan, father of Neela, who is a friend of Aarthi's.
Parasuraman, astrologer to the Rathinavel family.
Parthiban (Satish), son of industrialist Rathinavel. He had a pre-marital relationship with a secretary in his company, Hema, who has since blackmailed him and forced him to marry her in a Registry ceremony on the eve of his traditional marriage to Anandhi.
Raghu, son of Senthilnathan. An accountant who was to have married Anandhi but because his grandfather was killed in an accident on the day of the intended engagement, his parents called off the wedding.
Rajasegaran, doctor who had adopted Sujatha.
Ranjan, a terrorist who was involved with Meera in the plot to assassinate Minister RSK in Connoor.
Rathinavel (Mohan Ram), a wealthy industrialist and father of Parthiban and Swathi.
RSK, Central Minister and the target of an attempted suicide bomb attack in Connoor.
Sadhasivam, retired postmaster in Connoor who had been accidentally grazed by terrorist Meera riding a scooter. He is a material witness in identifying her.
Santosh, young son of Assistant Commissioner Mayavathi and Dilipan.
Saravanan, son of Varadharajan and Sivagami and a doctor by profession.
Seenu, youngest son of Varadharajan and Sivagami. A college student who is more interested in pursuing a film production career than on studies.
Senthamarai, mother of Aarthi and Sujatha. She has been mentally unstable since the presumed death of Aarthi.
Senthilnathan, father of Raghu and Suchi.
Sezhiyan (Rajkamal), brother of Aarthi (and Sujatha) and an aspiring IAS officer. On a visit to Aarthi's home in Connoor, he had received revolutionary books from terrorist Meera. That cursory association led to police suspicions that he was implicated in the plot to assassinate Minister RSK and he has since been detained.
Siva (Venkat), TV anchor at Channel 6, colleague and confidant of Sujatha's.
Sivagami (Shanthi Williams), wife of Varadharajan and mother of Gayathri, Ganesh, Saravanan, Anandhi and Seenu.
Suchi (probably a short form of Suchitra), daughter of Senthilnathan and Meenakshi and sister of Raghu.
Sujatha (Meena), a Meera look-alike and long-lost sister of Aarthi. Sujatha is a TV producer/anchor at Channel 6, who, until recently, was working in Singapore. She was given away at birth by her parents to Dr Rajasegaran, who has since told her the truth about her parentage. Having discovered that Aarthi has died in a fire, her brother Sezhiyan is in jail, her real father has died, and her mother has gone mad since her sister's death, Sujatha returns to Chennai pretending to be Aarthi, girl-friend of Ganesh, and is accepted into his household. Her intention is to unmask Ganesh, who she believes was responsible for Aarthi's death.
Swathi, daughter of Rathinavel and Thillaga and sister of Parthiban.
Thillaga, wife of Rathinavel and mother of Parthiban and Swathi.
Varadharajan (Delhi Kumar), the patriarch and owner of a kalyana mandabam. He is married to Sivagami and they have five children: Gayathri, Ganesh, Saravanan, Anandhi and Seenu.
