Here is an interesting take on the conflict:

After 61 years, it has become apparent that the Palestinians and Israelis both believe that all of the land of historical Palestine believes to them. The Palestinians belief is evident in the rhetoric and the adherence to their Right of Return. They are backed by most of the Arab societies in that. Even Palestinians advocating the two states solution reiterate that they are conceding 78% of the land that rightfully belongs to them.

The Israeli attachment to 'Erez Israel' or Greater Israel is also clear in the inability to let go of the West Bank, which they perceive to be the historic nucleus of the ancient Jewish Kingdom (Judea and Samaria). Even when the Israelis withdrew from Gaza they spoke about painful concessions: they believed that they are giving up parts of what belongs to them.

We all know by now that neither the Palestinians nor the Israelis are going anywhere, most of them at least. Splitting it up into two independent countries was actually neither side's idea. The prospects of this idea to work are no better than they were 72 years ago. So in reality, what we have here is one country with two ethnic groups fighting over how to run it. In a few centuries (should humanity survive that long) the Palestinian-Israeli conflict will be referred to as a civil war!

The country is too small to divide it into two. It is still one country after all!

if in a few years the palestinian-israeli conflict will be referred as a civil war between two different ethnicity in a country trying to run the country as they see it good and benefit to themselves then it will be referred as a civil war long ago when the israel state was proclaimed by the israelites. even though the palestinian claimed that the land which is now occupied by the palestinian and israelites belongs to the palestinian, the israelites also said that the same thing. the israelites said that this land is a inheritance promised by the Lord to be given to them as it was being given to their ancestors before them. the israelites also believe that after being exiled from the land of their ancestors they believe that the lord will deliver them back and this land is rightfully theirs. even though the palestinian citizens are supported by most of the arab states, not only arab states but also many different islamic states such as egypt, indonesia, malaysia still the israelites are supported by the united states who is much more powerful in terms of international political influences in the international community. there is not much that the arab states and other islamic states can do about this conflict more than supporting the palestinian either by humanitarian intervention, helping in providing the necessary military equipment and forces towards the palestinian. the indonesian being a country with the most islam population in the world are complaining against the united states about their policy in the middle east and supports towards the israelites in front of the united states embassy in indonesia, burning both the israelites and united states' flags and insulting the former president of america, george bush. they even complain against the visit of the new secretary of state, hillary clinton as they think that her visit will not do much towards the israel-palestinian conflict as the united states will always be supporting the israelites and their causes. they think that the lands rightfully belong to the palestinian and the israeli are supposed to get out from the land and middle east. the reason though that the arab states are supporting the palestinian is not because they respect the palestinian or like the palestinian before israelites entries in the middle east. before the israelites entries in the middle east, the palestinian were considered to be poor and were consisted of the community arising from slaves and were pretty much disfavored by the arab states. but when israelites entered middle east zone, the arab states dislike this because they dislike the israelites as they have this animosity towards israel and israelites. they prefer to support the palestinian because it is alike as them in sense that they are also arabs and because they share the same religious values, beliefs and point of view with the other arab states. dividing the lands into two seperate states would be good as they will have their own sovereignity towards their own land but it is greatly doubted that this will ever come to pass. the israelites and the palestinian will not want to have their lands seperated and therefore it is a difficult situation and difficult decisions to make for both the israelites and palestinian, the international community and the united nations. there will not be two different states of palestinian and israelites just two different entities of the palestinian and israelites as one will not acknowledge the other as a sovereign states and the conflict will go on and on as to dividing the lands between the palestinian and israelites.

There Must Be Another Way

I cannot comment much on the situation as I am ill equipped to do so. However, Israel will be represented in Eurovision 2009 by a duo of a Palestinian and an Israelite. This is like the biggest thing since the FYR countries performed on the same stage. Hopefully, someday the two cultures in the country find the other way instead of violence.

Be prepared for Eurovision awesomeness expanding horizons in 2009.

Some Arabs and Muslims think that. The real problem with the Israeli regime is the fact that it is a regime of discrimination, a racist regime. If the Israelis abandon the "for Jews only" attitude, then Jews, Christians and Muslims would become equal citizens, then we'd be on the right path to resolve the conflict.

the reason though that the arab states are supporting the palestinian is not because they respect the palestinian or like the palestinian before israelites entries in the middle east. before the israelites entries in the middle east, the palestinian were considered to be poor and were consisted of the community arising from slaves and were pretty much disfavored by the arab states.

The Palestinian people were the most educated Arab people, with highest ratio of PhDs per capita. Of Course the Israelis made sure that this changed over the years.

but when israelites entered middle east zone, the arab states dislike this because they dislike the israelites as they have this animosity towards israel and israelites. they prefer to support the palestinian because it is alike as them in sense that they are also arabs and because they share the same religious values, beliefs and point of view with the other arab states.

Arabs dislike the Israelis and support the Palestinians because the Palestinians were too mistreated. When Jewish immigrants started coming to Palestine (that was the name before the creation of Israel), the Arabs there helped them set up their homes and kibbutzes. The problems started when the Arabs found out that the Israelis were planning to have a state only for the Jews. The Israelis later ethnically cleansed more than 600 Palestinian villages, killing thousands and expelling hundreds of thousands.
This is why Arabs hate Israel!

First of all even if they are one country... where do they get the advanced ammunitions to fight each other...If Palestine is part of what could be considered "arab/muslim" world they have a whole middle east to themselves... there is hardly any country which can be called "jewish" except israel.. so there is no way israel is going to mellow down.. on this.. if this maintains a status quo at some point it will be like yugoslavia where ethnic warfare was the most gory one...bet' the serbs who really massacred the bosnians..

The Israelis have one of the most advanced military industries, in addition they get around 3 billion US dollars in military aid from the US every year.

As for the Palestinians, well, they don't have any advanced weapons! They have some guns and they make their own primitive rockets using very basic materials.

there is hardly any country which can be called "jewish" except israel.. so there is no way israel is going to mellow down.. on this..

The problem with this is that it not really a Jewish state, where non-Jews can have equal rights. It is "for Jews only" regime in Israel, where Christians and Muslims are considered second class citizens.

Israel will only be a land for the jews because they do not want the kinds of lawmakers found in any of the arab lands. And rightly so, that's in the best interests of Israel.

Oh. I am sure that they don't... But Israeli lawmakers are turning into the same kind of corrupt post seeking hypocrites like others in the region. The Israeli regime itself is becoming as corrupt as any Arab regime...

You add to that the discriminatory nature of the Israeli regime, and you will find the worst kind of 'state'... And like all racist regimes, its fate is oblivion...
