Is forcing the religion you follow onto your children, a correct thing to do? Or should the children have the right to chose their own religion, their own view of life??

Almost every parents (atleast in eastern countures) forces their children to blindly follow the religion they have followed (from their parents). The children when grow up does the same to their children. And this cycle goes on.

So whats your view on this? Doesn't the children have the right to chose their own view of this world, instead of blindly following the faith their parents did? Infact, not believing in the particular faith, IMO, is far better than believing in it blindly.

Please give your views, and I request to not turn this into a complete religious debate...Yes religions will be brought up as the topic is related to that, but PLEASE don't start speaking about any particular religion (as I think that's not allowed here).

Also mods, if his type of topic isn't allowed, close it.Tongue

I think its ok for parents to bring there children into there religion and to learn about it, every parent does, but as long as the child is allowed to express there feelings about it openly and how they feel, the parents should respect that too.

of course the parents cannot force their children to follow their faith if their children want to believe in different faith. but usually the parents do not force they just teach the religions they believe in to their children but when the children want to convert to other religions afterwards it is up to them even though there are not many people who want to convert from the faith that their parents teach to them.

Right.. it should be physically enforced till they are 18 and then force it through emotional blackmail... then on...indian women are aces at that....

its easy to spk but difficult to implement!

r u sure that u'll have no problem if ur child (or member of ur family) becomes a christian/muslim?

but there r many pseudo religions as well like satan worshipping...so u cant just throw ur child into those in the name of freedom of choosing religion!
