Dear people,

I don't know if this is the right place to do this, but the mods can put it somewhere else if they like.

At the moment i am doing a research about television in the rural area's of India for a university in the Netherlands. It is quite difficult to find information new enough about the way in which television is provided in India. I have a few questions and I was wondering if anybody could help me to find some answers.

1. What channels of the indian television are state-owned? What do they broadcast on these channels? Is this still called Doordarshan?
2. How are these channels provided? Bij sattelite, cable or transmitters?
3. How many people have access to the alternatives of state-owned television? (percentage or so)
4. What are the purposes of the state owned television?
5. Do people in rural area's have access to other television channels as well?

These are my questions for now. I hope you can help me out .

Thanks from the Netherlands
