I think that it is quite important to keep your mother tongue alive. I know how you feel, I speak in English the majority of the time, but I feel that I should speak in Gujrati as much as possible. Why?Because I feel a huge part of my culture is attachted to that, and if I lose it then I lose part of my identity. People should not be ashamed of their own language because  being bi-lingual is considered as a privelage.

I agree!Clap

Agree with bas totally. Also, it is always better to be able to speak/read/write as many languages as you can. We are lucky we have the privilege of knowing another language without having to take up a course for this!

Hey even though i woz born in Portugal, i still can speak Gujerati n Hindi as i speak at home. but ever since i came to England im startin to forget Portuguese. as in england i have to learn english, german, n french, so im learnin more dan 5 languages at once, so i get portuguese in to french n french into portuguese same wid english. i agree wid bas n all others sayin dat native language is important to speak. coz if u went to any religious ceremony in ur native country would u go there sayin english to ppl who dont know english?
