Who will lift the Lady...?
10/12/2008 | Vierendra Bhargav Who will lift the Lady...?
She is stunning…!
Put her in light – she will shimmer… put her in shade – she will
sparkle… omigosh! Trust us – she is a spell that can stun the biggest
of 'em all!
Yup – you guessed it right…
She is the lady in glass… the lady lifting a television upwards to the heavens of glory…
The lady that is the trophy of the Academy Awards – The Idea ITA Awards, to be precise!
She is the fancy of the mega in the medium – the biggest of stars crave
her and the same holds true about the most pre-eminent producers,
directors, technicians and what have you! For the last seven years –
come each November and then, it's been just one question echoing all
Who will lift the lady…?
This year is no different!
The air is throbbing with suspense as the Top-4 nominations (Jury) have
just been out. These are the four highest scoring shows and
performances in a slew of categories that mirror the entire spectrum of
the present-day television in the country.
These scores are a result of some truly heavy-duty deliberations by a
panel of high eminence, forming the ITA Jury who arrived at these after
a big, brainy slugfest amongst themselves. Indeed, it was quite a sight
to see a huddle of high-profile worthies in the Anchor Room of the
hotel Sun n Sand in suburban Mumbai, crossing swords with one another
for nearly 10 hours a day, for 10 days at a stretch.
And the outcome of that confinement of the connoisseurs is now out!
TVstaan is agog with excitement as to who, out of the Top-4's, would be
the Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar! There are guesses galore and we, at GR8!
are no exception!
So here is a bit of GR8! gazing into the crystal ball…
But Holy Golly!
It's no piece of cake, guys! As always, the competition is absolutely
feverish this year, too and hazarding a guess is daunting, indeed. But
we risk it…
In the soaps, leading the pack in the Top-4's is Balika Vadhu (Colors),
which has come in for 15 nominations! Close on its heels is Hats-off
Productions' Ba Bahu Aur Baby (Star Plus) with 11… and then there is
Sagars' Jai Shri Krishna (Colors) with 10, followed by Remote Control
(9X), Boogie Woogie (Sony) and Ssshhh… Phir Koi Hai (Star One) with 5
And now a closer peep into the major nominations…
One of the four aces in the Best-serial category is, of course, Balika
Vadhu that has kind of taken the country by storm, catapulting Colors
to enviable heights amongst the GEC's (General Entertainment Channels)…
but – and it is a big BUT – standing tall against it is the old horse
Ba Bahu Aur Baby that has shown no slackening in its sprint since the 3
years of its existence.
Actually, it's a JD Majethia/Sunjoy Waddhwa show all the way this year
in this category, what with both having pocketed two each out of the
Top-4's. While JD has his really hatke 'Ek Packet Umeed' featuring in
there, besides 'Ba Bahu…', Sunjoy has his inspirational 'Tujhko Hai…
Salaam Zindagi', too, vying for the honours along with 'Balika Vadhu'.
