Hrithik, Ash team up for Dhoom II

January 18, 2005 .
It's official. Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai will team up for the first
time in the much talked about sequel to Dhoom.
Hrithik is thrilled with an opportunity of doing a villainous turn. "I've
played the good guy long enough. Now it's time for me to get seriously
evil," he laughs.
"It's cool to play a baddie. I always wanted to play a cool villain. And
since the bad guy in Dhoom II is a multi-dimensional character, I'll have
that much more fun enacting it. Playing this nightmarish character is one
of my dreams come true."
IN NEED OF HEROES: Aishwarya Rai
The film, a hi-tech thriller packed with special effects and action-oriented
spectacles, is slated to be bigger, costlier and more in-your-face than
Dhoom. The film will bring together the untried pair of Hrithik Roshan and
Aishwarya Rai. While he is the villain, she is his girlfriend.
The Roshan-Rai pairing has been long awaited in Bollywood. Some years
ago, soon after the release of Kaho Na Pyar Hai, the two were supposed
to be teamed together for a love story set against the backdrop of war, a
story about a nurse and a soldier, to be directed by Tanuja Chandra.
More recently, the two almost came together in Rakesh Roshan's sequel
to Koi Mil Gaya.
With the Khans — Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir — being out of Rai's
orbit (Aamir is miffed because she turned down The Rising) Aishwarya is
in need of dependable and saleable heroes. She once said, "How many
films can I do with Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt?"
Hrithik would be an interesting co-star for Ash, especially since they'd
both go into the mean mode for Dhoom II. After the item guest-
appearance with the Bachchans in Bunty Aur Babli, with Dhoom II, Ash
finds a firm footing in Yashraj Films.
