Shashank Vyas

Shashank Vyas aka Jagya of Balika Vadhu turns a year older today with a big smile on his face. And, he thanks Colors for making him feel special on this special occasion as they got a cake for him and celebrated it in style in their office.

The actor is looking forward to celebrating his birthday with a few of his close friends as he says, "My friends called me up in the morning and they have asked me for a party. They were like 'Give us a party' because I have an off today. They are my roommates from my initial days in Mumbai. It's just them because there are very few people you gel well with and they are those." Would he be meeting any of his co-stars? "I want to meet them and I will be most probably as we do have some celebration on the sets as well. I work with them and they are like family to me."

One thing that Shashank usually does on his birthday is visit the temple, "I make it a point to visit the temple on my birthdays and I haven't done that yet. So, want to visit a temple as soon as possible."

Speaking of his birthday memories, he says, "I have never cut a cake on any of my birthdays. This is for the first time in my life that I am cutting a cake. Usually it has been like any other day that passes by but today makes me feel special." The actor does not want this special feeling to make him feel proud of what he has achieved rather he wants to remain humble forever.

Lastly the birthday boy's only wish is to keep in good health as he puts it, "I want to be swasth, mast and vyasth."

Wishing Shashank happiness ahead!

On the eve of Children's Day, we caught up with a few television stars to know if they would have loved to born in this generation. What would they have done if they were 'children' of the here and now! Read on:

  • Shashank Vyas: I would like to be born again as I would like to experience everything about this generation. I know that things have changed but I feel every generation has two kinds of people. If there are kids who are technology savvy there are the others who are spiritual too.

Beware of the Neha Marda imposter

    By TellychakkarTeam 7 Oct 2009 - 17:35

    Neha Marda

Neha Marda is a tad upset. The reason for this is that some miscreant has opened a facebook account under her name and writing false tales about her.

Recently, while we logged on to Neha Marda's facebook a/c it showed profile pictures of Marda along with another TV actress. Also her current message on her wall talks little bit about her show's track.

When contacted, Marda said, "I've been flooded with calls regarding the same. I want to clear that is not my account. Some one has created an id under my name and is writing all crap. I hardly get time to surf and it's been well over a month since I used my facebook account. I appeal to all to not share any information with that person. Perhaps, I need to bring this matter to the attention of the cyber police and it's then that the imposter will be caught."

"My correct account is one which has a picture of me dressed in a salwar kameez. Please send messages or friendship requests there," cautioned the actress.

Sanjay Batra to enter Balika Vadhu, make Kalyani's life difficult

    Sanjay Batra

Sanjay Batra, who was last seen in Jyoti, is entering Balika Vadhu. He plays a politician with grey shades to his character; his entry will bring in a twist in Kalyani's (Surekha Sikri) life.

A source says, "Sanjay played the role of Jyoti's father in Jyoti, so we know him well. He will portray a role of Het Singh, a known politician who in the past had to leave the village after winning an election. He claims to return to the village to improve the condition of the people there and provide them facilities. Kalyani is completely against him and his working pattern. Thus there would many clashes between the two.

"Sanjay's character is negative and he will try to pose some major problems for Kalyani and her family. Primarily his character is a cameo but if Het Singh's track works for us then we will extend it. Sanjay has already started shooting with us and his entry is expected to take place within two days."

    Sanjay remained unavailable for comment.

For the time being the focus of the story will remain on village politics and the Jagdish-Gauri track.

    Surekha Sikri and Pratyusha Banerjee

Yet another child marriage is set to take place in Balika Vadhu.

As per our source, "Gully who is Anandi's (Pratyusha Banerjee) childhood friend's daughter is to get married in the show. When Anandi and Jagya (Shashank Vyas) were young, they had helped a girl called Chanda escape from their village as she was in love with a guy and the villagers were against this. Chanda had managed to escape from the village but died soon after giving birth to a daughter. Now it's her daughter who is being married off but Anandi will try her best to ensure it does not happen. But while Anandi will try saving Gully by going out of her way, Dadisa will stop her by all means."

After Phooli, it is Gully's story that one can look forward to in Balika Vadhu.

Sadiya Siddiqui, the teacher from " Balika Vadhu", is set to re-enter the show.

"My character Sandhya bumps into Anandi in a temple and sees a a depressed and unhappy Anandi, who is already dejected about being away from Jagya, and has started feeling insecure about Jagya talking highly about his new friend Gauri," Sadiya says. Anandi, who had supported Jagya unconditionally for his medical studies now feels that she had to give up everything and was deprived of education because she got married at a very tender age. Sandhya tells Anandi that she has taken an oath to eradicate child marriage from the society, but is not expecting any support from her as she has already dedicated her life to her family since an early age.

Sadiya, who wanted to be a psychotherapist in real life says, "There is a strong similarity between Sandhya and myself, as even Sandhya stands up against anything wrong that happens in the society." Tune in to "Balika Vadhu" on Colors every Monday – Friday at 8pm.

Vikrant Massey, who plays Murli in the show "Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo", is glad with the response he's getting to his show .

So what got him excited about the character Murli, a non-glamourous role? Vikrant says, "When the producer of the show narrated the script to me, I was totally convinced to play Murli simply because I identify a lot with the character as I too have gone through similar struggle in life. Besides that, it was a good story, the character was great, so I just went with my gut feeling. The show has a social message associated with its content, which I totally stand by. I don't see midgets as abnormal people. In the show, we show that they are very normal people and it is absolutely wrong to poke fun and look down upon them. I believe in the ethics and core content of the show."

So how did he feel working with his co-star Juhi Aslam, who is a newcomer and has no background in acting? "There's no better actress than Juhi who could play the character of Bharti so well. She has done an outstanding job. In fact I have to match up to her level of acting because she is playing herself, straight form her heart. We are very good friends. Juhi is a wonderful person and keeps cracking jokes on the sets and keeps everyone entertained."

As for his first impression of Juhi Aslam, Vikram says, "When I met Juhi for the first time, she seemed very confident. I, however had my doubts as to whether she will be able to pull off the role with ease or not. But over a period of time she proved her prowess."

Offscreen with regard to women in his life, how much do looks matter? Vikrant says, "I'm already in a relationship for the past four years. I'll be honest and say that looks are important for me. But ultimately it all boils down to, how much a girl loves. Had I not been in a relationship, I would have no issues falling in love with a midget. I wouldn't mind as long as she loves me and takes care of me and my family."
