The heaviest downpour of this century this month has put the world's largest hydropower project – The Three Gorges Dam – in one of its biggest tests. As the reservoir levels rose to the highest levels, the excess water flooded many villages killing 37 people. This forced authorities to open the gates which led to flash floods downstream forcing the official machinery to evacuate millions of people. The water from the gates of the dam is flowing much faster than in 1998 when a devastating deluge killed more than 4000 people.

The Three Gorges Dam discharges water to lower the level in a reservoir in Yichang, Hubei province. "The peak flow is high, but it has not exceeded the designed capacity of 100,000 cubic metres of water per second," the official Xinhua news agency quoted Cao Guangjing, chairman of the China Three Gorges Corporation, as saying. It was on Bindaas I think some singing show Indian Idol ki tarah...it was called Sitaaron ko chhoona hai I think.
