Adi to direct Hrithik, SRK?

If sources are to be believed, Yash Raj head honcho Aditya Chopra has an ace up his sleeve to turn around the lacklustre 2007 Yash Raj has had.

The director-producer plans to get behind the camera after a hiatus of eight years and direct Yash Raj's two most successful actors - Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan. And that too together in one film!

"Adi wants to direct a movie. He has been working on the script for a while now. Initially, Yash uncle and Adi had a discussion about who would direct but now it's been decided that Adi will take to the camera. He wants to direct this film," says a source.

Although Chopra has approached both the superstars for what is said to be a romantic film, both the actors are yet to sign on the dotted line.

"As far as SRK is concerned, he is more than ready to work with Adi. He will never say no to Yash Raj. Hrithik however is another proposition. He is currently recuperating after his knee treatment. Then there is also Krrish 2 in the pipeline… But Adi had met both Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik and discussed about getting the two biggest stars of the country in one film together. And the meeting did have a favourable outcome," adds the source.

It sure looks like the Roshan-SRK alliance seems to be growing everyday. Recently, there was news that SRK and Hrithik will be sharing screen space in Krrish 2 as well with SRK playing the villain. Although the news was then denied, sources close to the film say that SRK and the Roshans are still very much in discussion. And that's not all. Khan is expected to film an item song for Rakesh Roshan's Krazzy 4 at Yashraj Studio on Tuesday, Jan 15.

The last time Aditya Chopra took the director's seat it was for Mohabbatein where he brought together the two superstars of that era – SRK and Amitabh Bachchan. Prior to that, the reclusive director had debuted with Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge which thirteen years later still continues to play in cinema houses.

Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan to co-star in film directed by Aditya Chopra
Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan to co-star in film directed by Aditya Chopra
Posted on Monday, January 14, 2008 (EST)

14 January 2008 (Sawf News) - Following the poor showing of the films produced under his banner in 2007 producer Aditya Chopra is pulling out all stops and rolling up his sleeves to direct his own film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan in lead roles.
Last year, other than Chak De! India, other films from Aditya Chopra Productions - Ta Ra Rum Pum, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Aaja Nachle all bit the dust at the box office, seriously denting the reputation of a banner once reputed to have the Midas touch.

Aditya Chopra has in the past directed two films both runaway hits - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) and Mohabbatein (2000).

Since he built his formidable reputation directing romantic films, Aditya is sticking with the genre but his new film will be laced with action and humor.

Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta, both banner favorites, are expected to be part of the project which will be shot in Greece Australia and Dubai , reports HT.

Chopra who is currently readying the final draft of the film hopes to start pre-production work in March so as to start wielding the megaphone by June - July.

Both Shah Rukh and Hrithik have plenty of free dates on their calendar as do Rani and Preity.

Dhoom 3 Or Untitled Shahrukh Hrithik Starrer?

Tuesday 15th January 2008 9.00 IST

Deepak Suri

The big question being asked in trade circles this week is what is Aditya Chopra's next. Initially the plan was to direct Dhoom 3 which would have had the casting coup of the century with Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan but reportedly Aamir Khan did not like his role and the same film was expected to go ahead with Shahrukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan.

Suddenly this week the industry is abound with rumours that Aditya Chopra has signed Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta for his next.

There is no confirmation from Yashraj films as yet but an announcement is expected soon.Aditya Chopra first directed the modern day classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in 1995 and that film is still running on one show daily at Maratha Mandir cinema in Mumbai. It is the longest running film ever as it completed 638 weeks last Thursday.

His second was the hit film Mohabbatein over seven years ago and since then there have been just rumours about what this super successful director would direct next. The industry awaits an official announcement and lets hope it is quick so all rumours can be put to rest.

Aditya Chopra to direct Rani Mukherjee?
15th Jan 2008 20.10 IST
By ApunKaChoice

If the latest tinsel tattle is to be believed, Aditya Chopra will direct a film for home banner Yashraj Films this year.

2007 was the worst year for YRF in recent history, with only one film ( Chak De India ) of their five productions turning out to be a hit. And to bail his production house out of this mess, it is Aditya Chopra himself who is learnt to be gearing up to return to direction after a long gap of eight years.

Aditya made his directorial debut with Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge , which turned out to be one of the top blockbusters ever in the Hindi film industry. He made his second film Mohabattein in 1999. The film, however, could not repeat the success of Chopra's first movie.

Now, Chopra is reported to be working on the script of a film, which he will direct later this year.

Expectedly, Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee are topmost on Chopra's wishlist for this film. Incidentally, this would be the first time Aditya will direct Rani.

Reports say Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta are also being considered for the film.

The yet-untitled movie will go on the floors in the middle of this year. If things go as planned, it should make it to the theatres by the end of this year

-------------------------------------------

Aditya picks Rani for SRK - Hrithik film

Aditya Chopra has selected Yash Raj favourite Rani Mukherji to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan in his next directorial venture.

A source close to Yash Raj says that Rani is more than happy to work in the project which is expected to begin this year itself.

"Adi needs two heroines for his film. Rani will play the lead opposite SRK while the hunt is still on for Hrithik's heroine. A couple of actresses have been short listed but it looks like Preity Zinta might make the cut," says the source.

He adds that the film will have everything that Aditya Chopra and Yash Raj are famous for - from foreign locales to over the top love and romance which is the central theme of Chopra's film.

But one can't help but question Aditya's need to step into the director's role all of a sudden?

"Everyone knows that Yash Raj has had a very bad 2007. Other than Chak De! India they haven't had any superhit and so Adi is taking things in his own hand. The film will have everything that made DDLJ and Mohabbatein cult films amongst the youth. And who better to do it with then the most bankable stars of Yash Raj and Bollywood."

"And at the same time he has been thinking about directing a film. He has been working on the script for a while and then when Yash Raj needs his success formula the most it does make sense for him to direct the film now," feels our source.

With the script close to being locked down, the film is expected to go on floors in the summer once all the actors have wrapped up their current commitments. The romantic drama will be shot in Dubai, Australia and Yash Raj's current favourite Greece.

Aditya Chopra is looking for a girl

The filmmaker plans to launch a nationwide hunt for a 'traditional Indian beauty' for his film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Once again, SRK will be paired with a leading lady half his age

Aditya Chopra is looking for a fair, pretty, young girl with an athletic body. No, the director is not doing so for personal reasons. Aditya, who returns to direction after an eight-year hiatus, is set to launch a mega talent hunt for the leading lady opposite good friend Shah Rukh Khan for his next film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

As the title suggests, the film is a romantic love story and the meticulous director is looking for a traditional Indian beauty to suit the part. Along with good looks and a fresh face, the leading lady should have an athletic body and the age limit has been set between 20 and 24.

The production team of the film will hold auditions in various cities in the coming weeks. A reliable Yashraj source informs, "Aditya is very keen on casting a new face this time. He wants to cast a traditional Indian beauty opposite Shah Rukh."

That gives Shah Rukh Khan another reason to rejoice as he is eager to work with younger actresses. In previous interviews, the actor has said that it gives him immense pleasure to work with actresses almost half his age. The story goes that Aditya has been in talks with good friend Shah Rukh Khan ever since Chak De got the cash registers ringing at the box office.

However, SRK signed the film only recently as he was pre-occupied with Om Shanti Om and was also planning his schedule for Karan Johar's next My Name is Khan. But Karan's film has been postponed to September and Shah Rukh starts filming for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi this May.

The plot revolves around a hilarious couple and their exploits. The title has been borrowed from the popular song Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi from Manmohan Desai's film Suhaag, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Rekha and Parveen Babi.

If sources are to be believed, Hrithik Roshan is being considered for a supporting role for the film that releases at the end of this year. When quizzed about it, Yashraj spokesperson Monika Bhattacharya, while not categorically denying the fact, says cautiously, "The entire cast is yet to be finalised. We will make an official announcement when it is done."

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi Is Talk Of The Town

Saturday 2nnd February 2008 14.00 IST

Mohit Sharma

It was around four o clock yesterday as the official announcement was made of Aditya Chopra's next film Rab De Bana Di Jodi and all the talk in the industry was about this film. Never has a film created such waves just on announcement and the film is not even what you call a big film with budget set at around 22 crore. The excitement was probably due to the fact that Adi Chopra who is regarded within the hindi film industry as the best director is helming another film after eight years. His first film DDLJ had just gone into its 642nd week in Mumbai when the announcement was made.

Speculation was going on for months as to what would be Chopra's next film. Insiders suggest that he was toying with the idea of directing the next Dhoom series film but after many hush hush meetings with Shahrukh Khan they zeroed on a traditional Yashraj Punjabi love story with music and heartwarming emotions expected to be the highlights. Aditya Chopra decided to make what he is best at and that is a film in the mould of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. As soon as the name Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi hit the industry the comparisons with DDLJ were going to be made but it will take one big effort to match that legendary film. There are also some in the trade who believed Aditya should have gone with the Dhoom series as that may be the need of the hour as these sort films are more viable at the box office today than musical love stories. Only time will tell if this is the right decision but most fans of the the Aditya/SRK combination are happy as they would prefer them to make a romantic film rather than an action film. Lets hope that the box office sees it that way as well.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is expected to be wrapped in four months between May and August. Initially Shahrukh Khan was expected to shoot for Karan Johar's next from May but that film will now commence in October. If all goes to plan RNBDJ will be released on October 24th to take the benefits of Diwali week. Incidentally this will also be the 13th anniversary of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

A new heroine will be launched with the film. The search will be through a talent hunt by Yashraj which will commence soon. The film is expected to have guest appearances by Hrithik Roshan and Rani Mukherjee though this has not been confirmed by the production house yet. Other cast and credits are to be finalised.

Aditya Chopra to start directing again

By Indiantelevision.com Team
(1 Febuary 2008 4:30 pm)

MUMBAI: Eight years since his last direction, Aditya Chopra is back helming a Yash Raj Films (YRF) production.

Even as his directorial debut Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge continues its record-breaking run in its 13th year, Aditya is ready to direct his third film.

After directing his second film, Mohabbatein, back in 2000, Aditya had taken a conscious break from direction to set up and develop India's first studio model making YRF a name to reckon with. In the years that followed, YRF, under the keen eye of Aditya, produced such blockbusters as Dhoom, Dhoom 2, Hum Tum, Bunty Aur Babli, Salaam Namaste, Fanaa and Chak De! India. While Aditya was the creative producer in all these films, he even wrote his father Yash Chopra's directorial venture Veer-Zaara in 2004, as well as the stories of other films.

Aditya's third directorial venture will be titled Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with Shahrukh Khan in the lead.

In this new film, Aditya will introduce a new girl opposite King Khan. The hunt for the girl is currently in progress.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, to be produced by Yash Chopra, will be written and directed by Aditya Chopra. Shooting for the film will commence in May, and it will release by the end of 2008.

Aditya's third directorial venture will be titled RAB NE BANA DI JODI, and will star the formidable Shahrukh Khan... indeed the jodi of Adi and SRK will once again be a treat for film audiences the world over.

They have the girl

Last week, Yash Raj Films sent out a press release saying Aditya Chopra was getting ready to direct once again for a film starring Shah Rukh Khan and a new female lead. The media has been speculating about the identity of the girl ever since. It has been reported that the Chopras will launch a nation-wide hunt for the girl, lekin andar ki baat yeh hai ki the leading lady has been already finalised. And apparently, she was rehearsing with Shah Rukh Khan over the weekend. Reveals an insider, "The girl has been locked for the main lead in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, and on Thursday night (January 31), she went over to Shah Rukh's house along with Adi to rehearse some intricate scenes. The name and the pictures of the girl are currently on hold as we have a proper marketing plan for her and the film."

Friend indeed!

Karan Johar readily gave away Shah Rukh Khan's dates to Aditya Chopra for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Back to Section Stories Posted On Tuesday, March 11, 2008

It's a known fact that Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra are not only professionally close but are also the best of friends. Karan recently gave a proof of how good a friend he is to SRK and Aditya. Karan didn't think twice before giving away the dates that Shah Rukh had promised him for his upcoming film, Khan to Aditya Chopra who will soon start shooting for his romantic film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Adtya Chopra had last directed Mohabbatein in 2000.

Karan Johar was ready to start shooting for Khan and had SRK's dates from May onwards.

Karan can't stop recalling his days when he assisted Aditya on the sets of his directorial debut, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Karan had also acted in the Shah Rukh-Kajol blockbuster.

Commenting on readily giving away SRK's dates to Aditya, Karan Johar says, "Adi, Shah Rukh and I are thick friends. I am extremely fond of Adi and very excited about the fact that that he is directing a film after so long. For us, star dates are a minor issue. I am more thrilled about Adi's film than mine. I did it more than happily."

Apparently, Kajol stars opposite SRK in Khan while Aditya has already finalised a 16-year-old female lead for Rab Ne Bana…
