Mumbai FIRST time

I live in USA but am anxious to visit Mumbai since I had been invited there. I am slightly scared of visiting Mumbai because I never been there before and I never traveled before. Can somebody please please please tell me what should I do the minute I arrive to the Mumbai airport?

 

I had thought about staying at Hotel Orritel West than searched for flats/apartments in Mumbai since renting a flat is a bit cheaper than staying at a hotel, I think 😕

 

I'm totally clueless, can somebody please tell me what to do?

Most people are very nice, acutally 90% i would say..

 

I have been to many airports, but when I went to Delhi, it was under contruction (still is...)..But ppl were very nice, especially ppl u meet on the plane (maybe I have that nice guy looK?lol)..

 

Will you fly into Mumbai (BOM) airport? or through Delhi then go to Mumbai?

 

Well...First you gotta get off the plane, then go through customs (which is easy), then grab your luggage...

 

I would probably shop around for hotels online...But I think if you go there then it will be easy and cheaper to get a hotel etc.. Just make sure you get a safe one, esp if your a girl traveling alone.

 

Also give your fam friends your contact info, and hotel info too..

Also if you dont already have one, I would probably buy a India cell phone SIM card (if your phone takes one...)...

Yar the plane tickets price is so expensive in December..Although I thnk its the perfect time because school is out.and work is a little easier...But the prices are so high...

Hey! i see ur going to india for da first time! wow!! k well...i been to india 4 times in my life! lol dats alott i knw! n i just went recently...in december n came bak in january. But im from gujarat so we stayed der. however we landed in mumbai...n den from der we drove to gujarat. i've never had a tour of mumbai...so i really dnt knw wat to say. although i knw is dat mumbai is really developed n u can get service in english at hotels n so forth. i dont think u'll have much trouble...but it's good if u do ur research n stuff..so when u get there u wont be lost. to be lost in an unknown place is indeed scary! especially ur travelling alone. i suggest u get a friend or sumone to come along wit u. also it wud be really helpful if u knw sumone who lives in mumbai n comes to escort u at da airport...n den can jus take u to a nice hotel. let me warn u of sumthing. Mumbai airport is reallyyyyy CROWDED! and also...when u'll get out of da airport! OMG...ur just gonna see SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many ppl waiting outside. like a huge crowd. IT's kind of scary. and plz take care of ur stuff...cuz india has thieves. if u jus get a rickshaw or a taxi...they can take u to a decent hotel. rickshaw drivers n taxi drivers knw which hotels r good n stuff. Also...knw how to bargain wit them! lol...its easy to bargain wit them...so yea..dats all i can say for now. oh yeaaa...another thing is..its gonna smell sooo badd outside...n gonna be soooo dirty...but i can gurantee u dat...INDIA IS DA BEST PLACE to visit! seriously u'll have SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun! look at me..i came bak in January...n i stillllllllll miss it sooo much! :( i wanna goo bak sooooooooo badly!! hopefully i'll be goin in end of 2010...probably to get married. everyone is saying we'll go in 2010..also my bf n i talked abt it..n he's like yea we'll go den. n e ways...i'll give u more advice n tips when i remember of any.
